MK Universe, a
Mortal Kombat fan-site based out of
Luxembourg, has posted a
video interview (wmv, 55.1MB |
YouTube Part I,
YouTube Part II) with Creative Director,
Ed Boon. In this english-language interview, quite a few interesting and unknown details about
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe are revealed.
First off,
MK vs DC Universe will be region-free, meaning the game disc from each part of the world will work worldwide. The
European PAL versions of the game will be released at the same time as their
North American NTSC counterparts. In addition, some bad news for
PAL regions as the
Limited Edition version of the game will not be released in
PAL territories, but that has been the case for the last few releases.
The development team is shooting for
two fatalities per character.
Boon also explains that the
yellow eyes that each character has when performing a
fatality is a product of the
"Rage" angle the storyline features. The color is significant as that is the same color the glowing aura that envelops your character when you enable
"Rage Mode".
In other storyline details, the collision of the two worlds is started by
Superman and
Raiden. The basic idea is that there are two events that happen at the same time and at the same place in the two dimensions. That starts the two universes overlapping and characters from one universe being transported to the other. The whole story deals with the characters invading each others' universe and why. Also, the end boss is a character that
MK Fans will not be familiar with and
Shang Tsung cannot morph in the game due to technical reasons.
The training mode will be more elaborate than those featured in the last two games. Also, there will not be any death traps in the arenas.
Character endings will not be in-game cinematics, but will be artwork graphics with a narrated storyline and text.
Finally, in an attempt to get at the names of hidden characters,
Boon states that
Reptile is not in
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Overall a pretty interesting interview that reveals a lot of details that aren't available yet, including some details on the script of a possible new
Mortal Kombat Movie. Check it
out! Thanks
