I gotta say, it'd be nice if the DC guys at least gave the MK team some creative freedom on the designs. If you view this render out of context, it sure doesn't give you the impression that it's from a Mortal Kombat game. I understand people wanting the designs to be faithful, but it looks like these characters are going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Keep the costume, but make the colors darker and more faded.

They are no using the Unreal to it's fullest. I mean the Gears characters look amazing! And that's with a first person shooter, they can do way better with a fighting game, so they need too.
Well, it looks very good honestly none the less. I noticed nobody commented yet on his costume details such as the wrinkles, spandex-ness of his costume. Kind of reminds me of Brandon Routh in some ways I think most people all around have to realize that for one, the MK team CAN'T just do whatever they want with designs...they need DC's approval as far as the DC guys go, they can do whatever they wish with their owns guys MK characters but DC's, not so much. I was saying this on MKO because a lot of fans "hated on Superman's look" umm that's how he looks lol, he's not going to look "evil" don't some of you guys know what Superman's about? lol Besides chances are and knowing MK there will be alternates, he'll have his Black/darker costume so that should please a lot more people...hopefully the DC/Superman haters out there but I wouldn't hold my breath on that one lol I don't see this plasticness some people refer to, he looks like Superman the pose, boyscoutish look etc. I follow DC as well as MK and he always has that "look" to him, I mean he's posing as the world's#1 super hero while Scorpion is an undead spectre of course he's going to look a bit "statue like" but not plastic lol.... He's Superman afterall

I feel like i'll be buying a second-rate fighting game and that is how i should never feel while buying a MK game.
Yea SC is going with shiny, SF is going with cel-shady, and MK is going with gritty. Three very different fighting games with three very different styles all coming out in the same 6 month period. Crazy ain't it? But I don't think these models look any worse that what we're seeing in SC. Recall what was said above about Gears looking so good because everything was metal and Unreal handles metal well? The same concept applies to SCIV. Everybody is wearing armor and wielding metallic weaponry. Of course it's going to look good. But I thought the trailer looked great and in-game will always look different than renders what with lighting and battle damage. So just give it a once over, deside if you like the design, and wait 'til we see it in action before comparing it to all the in-game screenshots you've seen of SCIV. If you notice, none of the renders for SCIV look like they do in-game.

Thanks for that. Now I can transfer some of my color edits to different backgrounds. Is he in the same place vertically that he was in the image with the background?
