Look like sites are jumping the gun, so we'll follow suit. Here is the trailer that was revealed at Midway Gamers' Day in Las Vegas last night. Worlds collide when Mortal Kombat wages war with DC Comics Universe in a battle to save all they know.

The preview article at GameSpot lets a few details out that the game will not be 'M'-rated but will feature some style of finisher, just not fatalities per se.

Also, the WorldsCollide.com website has been created and shows a newsletter signup and links to Midway's official MK vs DCU forums. (Thanks Austin Meyer) Clicking on Sub-Zero's eye brings up a secret page with 16 question marks, arranged like a character select screen. (Thanks QuanChiKiller)

I still have hope for this game. I feel Midway will not do "Fatalities" but I hope it's something along the lines of a super combo "IE:Killer Instinct" ending with a death move. I thinking that would go over well with both MK and DC fans.

actually, having just watched this interview, he said there would be no stage fatalities, he didn't say anything about normal ones and whether or not they would or wouldn't be in the game. merely that instead of having a "ring out" you'd have to actually beat the person.

Why is Batman in his gay grey suit? It should be his outfit from Batman Begins. Unless its an alternate. I dont know about you guys but seeing guys in there tights and spandex with capes ( superman and batman) i dont think makes this game dark and sinister. I might as well hoped for Mortal Kombat vs. WWE.

lol raven, or how about maybe mk vs. dragon ball z or mk vs. pokemon. if we're going for shock factor here and a stretch for the mk universe why not? anything's possible...

So it looks like there are 16 possible characters so far.

most likely, i can't even think of 8 characters in the dc universe, cause imo dc sucks. but they'll probably use that for profiles if that's actually for the character list. guess we'll find out as time goes on.

Damn, the .MOV version isn't working. I need that so I can analyze it frame by frame. WMP doens't have that feature.

I believe that Patrick is working on writing it up and transcribing the audio as we speak. The site pages are ready for it, just awaiting the meat. I can tip off a few things that I heard from the raw recording. - No weapons / fighting styles. - No mini-games like Puzzle or Motor. - No fatalities, but some cool finishers that take into account of each characters' powers. - Superman is vulnerable to magic and kryptonite. Plenty of characters in the MK realm use magic. (Ed mentioned sorcerers, so maybe Quan Chi) - Said that the majority of the characters are mainstays. I'm paraphrasing here: 'If you can name off the top characters in MK and in DC Universe, you'll have about 90% of the roster.' So I might just have to blow more stuff out. P.S.: Oh one more thing, Ed did mention his favorite drink, but he was holding it during the interview, so the response might have been influenced. Tsk @ sites ignoring the embargo, if TRMK had known they were gonna do that you guys could have had the world exclusive. =P Although I'm apprehensive about MK vs DC, I'm not going to be narrow minded and write this game off before I've had a chance to see more of it. It's a new direction a change in the series, people fear change but without it everything becomes stagnant. Kudos to Boon for taking a risk, I truly hope this game will be worth my money. Can't wait for the interview, I'm hoping some juicy details will be revealed. ; )

Thanks for the update. I'm still... apprehensive, but I'm gonna at least try to give the MK team the benefit of the doubt until we get the rest of the info.

I've been following the MK series ever since I was three for this to happen? I know we all wanted a Versus game with MK, but DC? Gay! It's cool for Ed to stick his neck out, but with everyone (including reviewers) *****ing about the MK series' shortcomings as of late, this could be the end of MK as we know it! But alas, this took us by surprise so it's expected for people to complain. We'll have to see what happens.

Like i said in another thread. After seeing the interview and the trailer, i'm warming up to this idea. Boon seems excited about it too. You can tell he's always wanted to do this. I wasn't against a VS game, i just didn't want it to open up the series on the new consoles, but hey if this one scratches then the real MK will, hopefully, be even better. Plus, a lot of my friends love fighting games but are not into MK. They also love comic book characters so maybe they'll actually want to play this one.... I just really hope i can kill superman.

I just want to see more screens/characters. Boon said think of the top players in the MK and DC world and you have 90% of the roster so if that's the case what do ya'll think it will be? Sub-zero= confirmed Scorpion= confirmed I would put baraka, shao kahn, and liu kang as definitely being in there even though i'm not fond of two of them. As for DC characters... i have no clue. Flash is popular but i don't see him fitting in these settings.

I just got off the phone with Patrick. It's going to take a while. In fact, he projects that the entire transcript with accompanying audio clips is going to be complete sometime tomorrow. Question 1 is already done and in the hopper, but the rest of the 12 minute interview is still a WiP. So, now it's up to me to give you guys something tonight. I'm going to listen to the raw audio (which we have decided not to release because it really needs to be cleaned up and produced since it was recorded outside and there were PR people interrupting with time checks) and pull out the meat of the question and answers. So stay tuned and I'll have a story up on the front page in a hour or so.

My guess would be most of the characters from the first two games, as they're the most iconic of the series. I'm hoping that'll include Kitana, but even with that being the case, they've still got a long way to go to sell me on this thing.

What do you think? I think it would make both MK and DC fans happy.

That would be a good idea, it's just hard to predict what the MK team will do.

Yeah i wish boon would update his site, cos i want to see that pic he posted clear, and full image. Looks like Batman vs Scorpion but its cropped to keep batman out. At least we could then see how good the actual graphics look. Cos looking at the trailer, it doesnt look that much better than armageddon.

that's because they pretty much had everything covered on other sites by the time 6:30 rolled around lol....the trailer was online before 6:30, the interview was online before 6:30(at gamestop), the site went live before 6:30, so apparently the embargo is something they can break, but only if they really really want to.... and i agree, for an embargo being lifted that's supposed to keep people from telling us stuff, there's not a whole lot more now then when i was looking at it earlier this after noon...
