The eccentric Florida lawyer, Jack Thompson, who seems to have a personal vendetta against the video game industry has just lost one battle and is now choosing another. His new battle is against our current favorite game, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon.

It seems some creative fans made up a Jack Thompson look-a-like via the Kreate a Fighter mode in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon and posted the instructions on how to create your own copy of Jack, amongst other characters, online to share with others.

So Jack Thompson, who seems to be without a sense of humor, decided to send a "cease and desist" email to Midway Games President and CEO David Zucker. He also decided to carbon copy it to news outlets, to I guess get some press to back him up maybe? Here is part of the email:

"It has today come to my attention that the newly recently [sic] Mortal Kombat: Armageddon contains an unauthorized commercial exploitation of my name, photograph, image, and likeness within the game. You are commanded to cease and desist immediately from the distribution of this game because of this unauthorized, illegal content." (Emphasis in original.)

It seems that either Jack doesn't get the idea that someone "made" this character themselves, and it's not included in the game itself. Or maybe he's just trying to stifle any creativity in the video game community, and will start suing anyone creating custom characters. Maybe he'll start by suing me on my behalf for creating a likeness of myself in the game?

Well...you know, I have a word for people like this "Jackass."

With a little help, I made his likeness and assigned him the style of legalese after me and a friend spotted the video of various created fighters. Then after finding out what he's trying to do, I performed the most extreme fatality I could do. Starting to sound like he's desperate for a victory: A baby throwing a fit cause he didn't get a candy while at the store.

Lol. When I first opened this thread I was li3k, "whotf is Jack Thompson?" Then I remembered seeing him on Attack of the Show. They did a skit on him XD. It was hilarious. This guy's an old fart.

Jack Thompson is just a dumbass who thinks creativety and fun are crimes. If he couldn't win the battles against Penny Arcade and Grand Theft Auto, then why does he even bother to try to take down MK?

Just another nail in the coffin for old Jacky boy. This further goes to prove these douche bags don't do their homework before they set out on their litte crusades.

Who is Jack Gaysterhornyomson? Does anyone know what he look like? My dad love MKA but he only 54 year old. My family don't care about what people is disapointment about this game at all. All i care, about Mortal Kombat that they can rock my mind.

Um people should go to jail for murder And that's a great article, it's nice to see Mortal Kombat causing some problems, even if these problems have no backing of any sort. The whole thing started back early in the year of 1995. It was December and the snow was coming late. Jackie was waiting for his pizza at pizza hut and stumbled across this lovely box that you insert quarters in. He put a few in and heard the words "Fight!" So he did. After hours upon hours of playing, he was challenged by a kid as soon as his pizza was ready. Refusing to let his pizza get cold and to get stuck in the snow, Jack accepted. Thirty seven seconds later, and two flawless victories later aswell, Jack was in tears hugging his legs in a corner. He had lost, and thus developed his great hate for Mortal Kombat..

Well Mortal Kombat should win this lawsuit and easy. I was there in the early 1990's when MK first hit the arcads, 1992 or so If I recall. There were talks to out right ban the game. The politics were paraded around to see MK get ban or out law and all that if I recall. Yes Joe Liberman was a big part of the MK swat team lol. The only thing left of that war, is the memorys, news reports, videos, and the Sega vs Nes. Sega though code keep the blood. While the Super Nes, out right took out the blood and guts, and omitted the finshing moves to more frendly endeds. As it turn out, the Sega out sold the Nes port.

What a f'ing pansy. If he can't take the critisism then he should probably just leave.

Jacky boy should do some research on the game even before he tries to sue Midway, the chances of Jack(ass) even winning this case is 1 to a billion.
