Your Favorite Fighting Game Series

Wanted to see what type of fighting games everyone is into. Just name your favourite series, your favourite game from it, on what, and how you like to play it. I'll start off:
Mortal Kombat- Mortal Kombat 9
King Of Fighters- King Of Fighters 2002
Super Smash Bros.- Super Smash Bros. Melee
Tekken- Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Street Fighter- Street Fighter Alpha 3
Marvel Vs Capcom- Marvel Vs Capcom 2
Killer Instinct- Killer Instinct(SNES)
Injustice Gods Among Us

Games like Mortal Kombat, and Injustice, I prefer playing it on the PS3 with a control. I been playing Tekken Tag 2 with a control, but I feel like I need a stick instead so execute combos. Gonna ignore the exclusive games. Marvel vs Capcom 2, Street Fighter, and King Of Fighters I like to play on the arcades with those. I played these games on arcades in Mexico. It's an awesome feel.

1.Soul Calibur 4 (the last true installment. 5 was utter garbage!)
2.Virtua Fighter 5
3.Mortal Kombat
4.Guilty Gear
5.Night Warriors
6.Street fighter (getting bored of that series though)

My most favorite from top to bottom:

Super Smash Brothers Melee
Mortal Kombat 9
Blazblue Chrono Phantasma
Project M
.....

and that's it. I like some of the old soul calibers and I use to play tekken before smash.

I've tried
SSFIV
MVC3
Persona 4 Arena
Super smash Brothers Brawl
Injustice

couldn't get into them, and did not like.

and I'm bored of Tekken/Soul Caliber, even though at one point I did like them (at a casual level)

Tobal - Tobal 2
Mortal Kombat - Mortal Kombat 9
Virtua Figther - Virtua Fighter 5 R
Darkstalkers - Night Warriors
Bushido Blade - Bushido Blade 1
King of Fighters - Tie between KoF XI and KoF XIII

I always use a d-pad controller of sorts, regardless of what platform I play.

1. Mortal Kombat - MK9
2. Dead or Alive - Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate
3. Injustice: Gods Among Us
4. King of Fighters - KOFXIII
5. Tekken - Tekken Revolution
6. Destrega
7. Virtua Fighter - VF5
8. Soul Calibur - Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny

Mortal Kombat - II
Street Fighter - SFA3
Tekken - 3
Soul Edge/Calibur - SC3
Punch Out - The one with Mike Tyson

Tekken ~ Tag 1 & 5DR
Street Fighter ~ II New Challengers & AE2012
VS Series ~ MvC1
Soul Calibur ~ III (not a typo, I like 3 more than 2) V

1. Mortal Kombat: MKDA & MKU
2. King of Fighters: KOF 2001 & KOF 2002 UM
3. Super Smash Bros.: Super Smash Bros. Brawl
4. Tekken: TTT1 & TTT2
5. Street Fighter: SFIII & SSFIV
6. Dead of Alive: Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate
7. Soul Calibur: SCIV
8. Samurai Shodown: SSVI

No particular order

1. Mortal Kombat- MK Deception and 9
2. The King of Fighters- KOF '97 and XIII (For me, those two games have the best soundtracks in the franchise)
3. Injustice: Gods Among Us
4. Street Fighter- III and Alpha 2 (I wish Capcom would move on and make V instead of going batshit crazy with expanding IV.)
5. Samurai Shodown IV
6. Bloody Roar 3 (I hope they will remake the whole series for the new generation consoles)
7. Soul Calibur- III and IV (the series should've ended at IV when Siegfried defeated Nightmare once and for all)
8. Dead or Alive- 2-4
9. Tekken- 3-5
10. VS series- CvS 2 and MvC 1

I usually use controller pad overall.

4. Street Fighter- III and Alpha 2 (I wish Capcom would move on and make V instead of going batshit crazy with expanding IV.)

Most definitely agreed! And this isn't the first time Capcom has done this shit with ONE installment of SF. Remember all the SFII "upgrades" in the early 90s? I even remember the running joke about the SF franchise being that Capcom couldn't count to 3, and when they finally did, they even had the audacity to make the game without its two flagship characters (good thing the beta testers made their feelings about that loud and clear).

Mk series (2 ultimate 4 for the music and 9)

Street fighter (mostly alpha and 3rd strike)

Tekken series

Soul calibur

Bloody roar (2 and 3)

Ssbm(still play super sudden death at hyrule with the damage ratio at 2.0)

PSABR

Soul Calibur series

I missed the boat on fighting games for so many years, but I've recently had a resurgence for enjoyment of Mortal Kombat, so...

1 - MKII, ideally on actual arcade hardware, but my Hori Real Arcade Pro 3 stick is the next best thing.
2 - MK9, recently started playing on Vita, also have it for PS3 but I have next to zero time put in on it.
3 - Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade, definitely better with the arcade stick than a controller.
4 - I'm almost ashamed of this one, but Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 on the Nintendo DS. >.>;

Oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me about the situation about III saga and the II "upgrades". I did remember that originally in III, all of the rosters would be entirely new, that would caused an entire uproar without any flagship/nostaglic character to remember, before adding both Ryu and Ken in there (Akuma came back on 2nd Impact, while Chun-Li returned in 3rd Strike). The main reason they doing Ultra now is because of SFxTekken that the characters (mainly Rolento, Elena, Poison and Hugo) were in are now gonna be added to this expansion (for some strange reason, this is gonna remind me a bit of from MK: Armageddon about the largest roster, almost like a SF All-Stars).

Dead or Alive: 2 Ultimate + DOA 3
Tekken: Tag Tournament
Mortal Kombat: MK 2 + Deception
Virtua Fighter: 4 Evolution
Soul Calibur: SC 2
Blazblue: Continuum Shift Extend
Marvel vs Capcom: MVC 2
Street Fighter: 3rd Strike
