Which Characters are Waste of Slots?

well to be fair, they haven't exactly come up with any intimidating and convincing boss besides him. I don't mind that he's out this time around but I gotta admit he is definitely BOSS, shinnok just doesn't inspire as much as him. probably something to do with the size too and also the personality they've given to Kahn

I think you jsut listed characters you don't like. Like pretty much everyone else in this thread..

You KNOW some of those characters you listed plays a huge part in the story. That makes them earn their spots.

thats the problem

MK is a fighting game. fighting games are mainly about 2 player especially nowerdays with internet online play.

yet MKX is catering to its 1 player story mode first and foremost so most the roster is boring. which then causes a ripple effect over to the multiplayer and roster diversity.

No they actually are catering to the tournament players and casuals. Thats why all the icons and fan favs are back even though some of them i hear do nothing in story which is a shock tbh.

but the characters available for tornament players to select depends on the story.
for example a tornament player cant choose ______ because they died in story mode.
 
None. They all belong whether you like it or not. Super Smash Bros. Brawl had wasted characters because some were literally just clones, that's not the case in MKX. And if you say 2 characters play the same you obviously haven't seen enough gameplay to judge. This is just another complaint thread about your favorites not making it in the game. Mine aren't either, yet I love the roster. Grow up, people.

What? I don't dislike a single character in the roster and I don't even have a favourite that is not in game. What are you talking about?

I'm talking about those who are constantly complaining on different threads about "wasted slots" (Like DeBane, Rocky, etc.)
 
So much negativity surrounding this game. I think it's incredible, and happy that Boon created it so long ago, and the team continued to work hard on it today. It looks amazing, and all of the characters look fun to play with. I've never been a huge fan of Jax, Liu Kang and Kano, but I will definitely give them a shot in this game.
 
I don't think any slot is wasted. Sure there are characters I never/rarely use but there will always be other people who are happy about them, so I don't mind.

Great first post. The axiom "you can't please every one" comes to mind. Unlike the belief of some, every character is not made specifically for them, and unless they change their mentality, they will never be 100% pleased with anything, let alone MK. Just enjoy the game and be glad you didn't have to put in the elbow grease making it, and merely get to enjoy the end product.
 
Sonya - Replace with a Sareena.
Ermac - Replace with Nitara.
Jax - Replace with Cyrax.
Johnny Cage - Replace with Havik.
Liu Kang - Replace with Li Mei.
Kung Lao - Replace with Fujin.
Kitana (I'd rather have her as DLC!) - Replace with Tanya (or switch spots with Tanya as DLC).

Those MK9 Kombatants could've been DLC instead. More people would be buying them I bet!
 
all the new characters are wasted slots but kotal kahn is the biggest waste because he walks like he has shit himself
and maybe takeda next since he has legs like an anorexic 9 year old girl

they should of put baraka in the game because he is cool and badass
