What they are pretty much doing to Sub-Zero (Kuai Liang) (spoilers in a way)

I've skimmed most of the stuff in hear just to peak and it seems like most of y'all are afraid of what cyber-sub means to the storyline. My response is, do we know for sure that cyber-sub will be a main part of the story, or is he simply a cool insert into the arcade/vs. mode??? Like I said, my lack of story spoilers may already prove me wrong... but from what I've seen cyber-sub is located in the unlock/dlc slot in the characer select screen. I'm personally thinking he's nothing more than an extra fighter to enjoy, but he doesn't not influence the story mode and anything going forward. Kind of like Kratos, he's in the game but it's just for fun, nothing more.

The Aggie, LK-52O is exactly right. And that's the thing that kills speculation-- leaks. But while you can do whatever you want, you shouldn't come into a spoiler thread that's discussing something without knowing about the information. I understand you not wanting to be spoiled about everything, but when you try to state an opinion about something that everyone already knows, it's pointless.

yeah, Im happy you can still play as human sub, but im just pissed because his story was so cool...and now they are just saying it never happened? Why waste all of those years of story writing and games, it pretty much means that mk:da to mk:A are lies and none of it is true. If anything, id rather this game be all new characters then ruin the whole story that is mortal kombat. I like when they revamp the characters looks and abilities, and the new fatalities, but dont ruin the story, just like the movies, its bull. They are taking his cool story and making it into a crappy one.

But it is real! It did happen and now were going to an alternate time zone with changes. All the previous Storylines are still cannon so dont worry so much about it! :) besides we dont know what they could do with the next installment

Edit: I say just give it some time and wait till the game come out to really give a complete judgement on it

Well to be honest its hard to tell what Arcade endings are cannon its always been that way in every Mortal Kombat lol it gets tricky glad to help though

Good deal! Thanks for the answer w/out specifics. I wasn't trying to disprove anything, just making a suggestion that I admitted was spoiler free. I'm excited to see how the story unfolds and I'm not upset to find out that my main man will face a rather interesting fate. Definitely staying away from almost every "spoiler" thread so hopefully I can stay strong till the game comes out.

Sort of on topic with sub-zero, my thoughts ever since we've seen the scorpion/sub-zero/noob trailers (based on what they are saying to each other)... I think we see Scorpion kill the 1st Sub-Zero in the story mode MKI events... I think Sub-Zero #2 comes to avenge his death in MKII events and then at some point the old SZ pops up as Noob. Curious to see how the whole cyber-sub then comes into play here if what I think so far is true. I'm starting to think that my MK - MKII events theory might be accurate... and then we see cyber-sub along with the other cyborgs come into play in the MK3 events. I'll find out in about a month I guess.

I won't be checking this thread again so thanks for keeping the main story points hidden.
 
I thought it was pretty cool to see what they're doing with Sub-Zero. They did say that some story lines were going to change, such as some people *cough* Smoke *cough* may not become cyborgs.

I sent the MK team the following tweet: "Just to let you know, WE HATE the fact that Kuai Liang gets turned into cyber sub. worst idea since the zombie liu kang."

I then got a reply from Shaun Himmerick of the MK team and he has this to say about what i said: @strugler if enough people use the #FightDirty tag we'll release something extra special...


So almost immediatly i sent him this: WE HATE the fact that Kuai Liang gets turned into cyber subzero bad idea. Only Human young subzero knows how to #fightdirty


So i suggest all of you kuai liang fans to make a sentence in twitter about how you hate the idea of kuai liang being automated and use the #fightdirty tag somehow. I am sure we can make them change things, even through dlc

I agree. Turning him into a Cyborg instead of just having him and Smoke stay humans this time around was a very bad choice. What doesn't help matters is that CSZ has the exact same storyline as UMK3 Smoke. If they really care about their fanbase there wont be a CSZ in MK10.
 
Hey guys, why are you complaining about a cyber sub-zero anyway? You still have the normal Sub-Zero if you don't want to use the cyborg.

BECAUSE HE'S NOT A CYBORG, HE'S TOUGHER THAN THAT! do you remember the real reason why Smoke got transformed? he was weak and got captured. Sub-Zero is NOT weak! maybe they're just adding the cyborg thing to add some mystery to him.
 
SubZero (the original one) does not appear in this game, he only does in his Noob form.

PD: people dont get worried about adding the "Saibot" in this game he is only "Noob" what i think is better, Noob Saibot sounds like a robot.
 
Has anyone ever considered that this could be a what if stage? Because CSZ is unlock-able not available for the beginning. So Maybe some extreme thing in Story mode has to be done just to unlock him!

95% this is why CSZ isn't available from the beginning

CSZ was the biggest change and was meant to be a secret, the biggest new thing of MK9.
Had it not been for the leaks, nobody would no about him.
If he was available from the beginning then the secret would be right there whenever we went to the character select screen; therefore, they kept him unlocked until you finish his chapter in story mode, and that's the only thing you have to do to unlock him. Nothing extreme, nothing fancy... just beating his chapter.

I would of expected more from NRS saying they could make it really hard to unlock him so only avid players get to use him. but still SZ is one of my favorites and i am not going to get all upset about him having a Robo form i anything i am excited to see how he plays!

And how do you know that the story of CSZ will be more boring than the old one... Are you able to look into the future?

What I can say... CSZ looks far more interesting than his human counter part in this game... What the future will bring us... I do not care... They easily can recton him with one sentence in his bio for next chapter.

For now I will enjoy this game and this Sub Zero and if you don't like him, than play the human version

See, I don't get the hate. Yes, yes, you like your human Sub-Zero, but there is a problem with this thinking. If we hated all change and kept with the past, [The] Ninja's would never have been anything other than palette swaps, and no character would have died. [I personally thought Liu Kang's death in MKDA was a good thing for the story aside from the repetitive: Liu Kang beats everyone in his path cliche.]

This storyline we have infinite potential, CSZ isn't repeating the same storyline as Smoke, because we already know that he and Noob won't team up, we know there are multiple path ways this could branch out now. Like, Scorpion losing to Sub in MK2 unlike the original timeline, what if now Sub-Zero's MK4 ending comes true and he well causes Quan Chi to die stopping the Deadly Alliance which prevents all kinds of crazy crap.

At the very least we should give it a chance. Most of the events in the original timeline can happen the exact same way while some should change. [Sub beating Scorpion MK2?] Anyway, I rest my case.
 
The Lin Kuei grandmaster from MK Mythologies Sub-Zero is Sektor! He turned himself and the captured Cyrax, etc. into a cyborg
 
HAHAHA! Shao Kahn wins! ...Anyway, I think Subz gets captured instead of Smoke in the alternate/2nd/retold/mk9/awesome storyline, & gets converted 2 CSZ. However im confused as to how than can pit both the "human" & CSZ against each other. Maybe, the human Subs is actually the older Sub-Zero From MK1, in which Scorpion doesnt kill on here due to him learning it was Quan Chi that actually kills his family before hand? Who knows, just a thought... All I know is I cant wait to see how the story develops.
