What happens after MKX: Mortal Kombat 11 character Wish List

What if they were the only two playable out of the box and you had to unlock the rest of the roster?

Honestly, if it was another Shaolin Monks, I would be hesitant to buy it. There are not many beat em' ups after the 90s that I really liked.

I've stated before that a Sub-Zero / Scorpion game, featuring hunting down Quan Chi and / or the automation of the Lin Kuei arounf the MKII / MK3 era could also have characters like Noob Saibot, Smoke, Sektor and Cyrax as playable, given that all of those characters have to do with either Quan Chi or the Lin Kuei at some point or another.

Again, my issue with a Sub-Zero / Scorpion SM-type game at THIS point in time is that the death of Quan Chi has already been done in MKX, though.
If they do a post-MKX game featuring those 2, I guess that it could work, but who would Sub-Zero and Scorpion unite to take down in an action / adventure game?
Scorpion avenged his family and clan in MKX and Shinnok is currently in a state of uselessness, per Raiden beheading him and suffering a fate "worse than death."
 
I hope not.

As much as a Scorpion / Sub-Zero game taking place after the events of MKX would be a bit weird, to me, I'd rather have a side-story with them than them being the main protagonists in future MK fighting games.... just because.
Scorpion got his vengeance and Sub-Zeo got his reformed Lin Kuei in MKX.
They can still be playable, but be cameos in the next MK game.

The fighting game story should continue to move forward with Kotal Kahn, Erron Black, D'vorah, Ferra / Torr, Cassie, Takeda, Jacqui, Kung Jin and whicever other new character(s) is / are introduced in MK11.
As it is, some more info about Erron Black and Ferra / Torr (or even more character development in the future) would be nice.

You're always talking about how characters need to earn being in the spotlight, but they can't have a chance of taking the spotlight if they're constantly being pushed aside in the same game that they debut in.
That's 1 of the main issues I had with MKX's story.
Yeah, Kotal Kahn, Erron Black and Ferra / Torr were cool characters in design, but when it came to story they were pushed aside for other characters.
Kind of defeats the purpose of symbolically "passing the torch" and giving new characters the time to shine.
Kotal got a good story arc, but again, the story arc was pushed aside in favor of Shinnok, who showed up in the end for 30 minutes, fought against Cassie Cage and died 30 minutes later.
 
When it comes to my favored characters in a fighting game, I usually prefer the ones that not main characters or faces of their respective series.
 
I know that certain characters are favored and certain ones will always be on the playable roster.
Heck, it's known that 1 of my favorite characters is Sub-Zero (specifically Bi-Han Sub-Zero), but that doesn't mean I want every storyline to revolve around on continually involve Sub-Zero (either of the brothers) and Scorpion.
The in-game story for that specific fighting game should evolve to include the characters that are being introduced into that game, and how they are relevant to what's going on.
Despite not everyone being a fan of some of the new characters, Jaqui and Takeda have become some of my favorites.
 
For those of you wanting Scorpion and Sub-Zero to take a lesser role, I beg the question right now...

Should Mario get a lesser role than Waluigi in his own game? Because diminishing the presence of Scorpion and Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat carries the exact same effect. Not to mention the fact that such a move is also bad enough for business to threaten the very future of Mortal Kombat.

The Mario of Mortal Kombat is Liu Kang.
 
At this point, they should just let Scorpion and Subzero stop associating with each other storywise. MKX already proved that new rivalries and alliances can occur without the need to rehash old ones. Examples:
-Mileena vs Kotal Kahn
-Tanya vs D'Vorah
-Kenshi vs Red Dragon (Personal-wise)
-Havik allied with Skarlet & Reiko
-Mileena, Rain, & Tanya allied together
-Scorpion allied with Kenshi
-Outworld at peace with Earthrealm?
-Red Dragon allied with the Shokan

And what is the logo for "Mortal Kombat" itself for the past 25 years?
The dragon logo.
Therefore, the stories in the MK fighting game numbered series should be about MK warriors, not just 2 in particular.

Who saves the princess?
Who defeats the big bad boss?
Who is also clad in red and says funny noises when jumping around?

Mario likes pasta, Liu Kang likes noodles.
Just saying...

NRS might have put Scorpion on their logo, but when we speak of the games, there's no comparison.

I mentioned absolutely nothing about who the main protagonist is. Only who the biggest Box Office character is. They're not always one and the same, as is the case with MK.

That doesn't change anything.
Scorpion can be the main hero in his own game. It didn't work for him to be the main hero in MK, which MKD was the proof of.
And again, with an adventure game with the focus on him, I'd rather just skip it. I'm not going to support that shit.

MK has always included the stories of MULTIPLE characters told in various games, though, not just 2 characters.
Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Shinnok, The Lin Kuei, Shujinko, Reptile, Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, Onaga, Sindel, Nightwolf, etc, etc, etc, etc...........

Just because yellow and blue don't have the spotlight for a game, doesn't mean that their presence is diminished.
Who were the 2 in the last cinematic trailer, announcing MKX?
Who was the one plastered on the MKX box?
Who were the 2 on the front cover of MK9?
Main menu for MK9?

NRS does a pretty damn good job of always having those 2 on the front cover or as part of their advertising campaign, somehow.
So, yellow and blue having less (or no) story time in the next MK game doesn't really mean much, given that NRS is ALWAYS reminding you about them, anyways.

What's wrong with treating the most popular characters like stars in the story of a main title? I see nothing wrong with it at all.
