Valve & Steam thread.

I have probably played about 4 hours? It is fun, but I generally don't want to sit down and dedicate 40 mins of playing if I want to do a quickplay. That is how I feel about L4D2 as well.

I have great memories of TFC, grenades and tacks on the ground for the scout on a 56k modem anyone? 365 ping was legit when I played! TFC has a MK1 MKII quality to me. TF2 is better, but TFC was its own behemoth. I do preferred Well in TFC then then TF2 incarnation.
 
The only (main) thing I hate about TF2 now is the balance I mean crafting far superior weapons how is that fair? + crits removing them would do everyone a huge favor.
 
I like the crits, like when I am harrowing down on a sniper or heavy taking cover to reload my black box rocket launcher with the Soldier I pray for a crit gib the red/blu. Crafting is great, great for nerds to nerd out on (Tyler Welby, Sk....nm), I Was into it for about 5 mins but working 50 hours a week plus a severe pornography, gambling, alcohol, opiate addiction is conflicting with my time to play TF2 and figure out crafting.

For the first minute, my best bud and I who used to play TFC back in the day, would trade and all that stuff. It was cool, then got tedious. Wish there was a servers that had just default items only. Maybe I will write Gabe?
 
The concept of crafting is great 100 percent with you on that, I just find it poorly placed and on the subject of crits excluding sniper, think of it in the matter you're close to killing some then he lands a lucky crit on you it's not game breaking just... Annoying + having default items servers would be epic.
 
Well how about me and you write Gabe, have Sk....nm, sign and say this would be a great idea. It would like play the Orange Box version on your pc (No mods, No updates).

On the subject of crits, I hate when it happens to me, love it when it happens to someone else.
 
Been dickin around with Source filmaker. Very complicated, but its also very well made and so much you can do with it once you get the hang of it. So far I've only really gotten the camera work down and just making the characters move around in game and record them. (pretty much just firing guns and tossing heavy off a cliff)
Havnt got to custom posing yet, but thats gonna be a while. You should really give this a try Johnny Rook.



And dammit, its almost as if we need a separate thread for SFM videos. Great new ones keep popping up all the time. I hope to make them as good as this one day

I am downloading it as we speak. I screwed around a little bit with Garry's Mod, I will give this a try here soon. The fan community for Valve is very talented. That is why I associate myself with them, being I am a no talent hack. Wait, wut?

Can't wait to give this a whirl.
 
great. it does take a while to get even the basics down, but once you start you want to keep learning cause its so much fun.

I tried it out, and unfortunately my pc will not be able to hang with SFM. I loaded cp_gorge as my backdrop and it was just skipping. Right now I am just doing the basics and learning how to get around. I see lots of potential in this.

 
Sorry to hear that your pc is having trouble. But at least you are getting the basics.
And yes this has huge potential. Keep in mind this is only the beta and it is still proving us how much cool stuff can be done with it. Cant wait for L4D models and maps to come. Portal as well.



But man, I'd better hurry up and get good at this before every movie scene ever made is already done in SFM lol.
 
I used to be really big into editing films and making my own movies when I was younger, wish I still had that drive or interest in it. Looks fun to screw around with but SFM has amazing tools in in the right hands.

So I just registered to steam and added $50 to my wallet however the item I wanted to buy (Valve Complete Pack) just went off sale a few hrs ago. Is there anything I can do to get for half off, I hear some people have luck asking Gaben but I don't know what to do.

Any clue if it'll come back on sale soon? If it doesn't I guess I'll just have to buy the counter strike bundle and HL2 since those are the games I want the most.
