I don't remember Shinnok exploding. Just being sucked into a vortex and then engulfed in flames.
I said almost every MK boss. Don't you agree? I think quick time events would be cool. Or at least something original.

Why are you guys so fascinated with evil Liu Kang? I mean, yeah... It's a step up from the dull as f*** normal Liu Kang. But is that what we want? Really? A butt-hurt Liu Kang as the big bad?
Liu Kang would come as no surprise for two reasons.
2) Many of us were speculating as such when Boon made the announcement (in which case, it's our own damn fault for ruining the "surprise").
2) Do you think the fan feedback is having an impact on NRS' information release schedule?
Boon's recent tweets got me thinking. Actually, the Kitana reveal made me raise an eyebrow, but now I feel more confident in thinking that NRS is revealing characters based on what people ask for. It's no secret that people all over the net were complaining about a lack of female characters revealed for MKX. Kitana is then promptly teased and revealed. I've also heard many fans complain about the fact that no new characters have been shown since E3 last year, especially in light of the Kung Lao and Kitana showcase. Suddenly Boon starts hinting at what appears to be a new character. The weirdest part happened today, when Boon announced we're getting not one, but TWO reveals next week, even though the livestream announcement only advertises one reveal. Smells an awful lot like a last-minute change. Like somebody on the team said, "gee, I see a lot of fans complaining about the lack of news these past few months, why not throw in something extra? We've got characters to spare and this overwhelming abundance of info should satisfy them for a while. Do it."
Do you think these three events are mere coincidences or is NRS adapting the marketing strategy based on what their customers want to see?
You have a point about them preferring to advertise the old characters, but I think that's just because the casual audience comes first when it comes to marketing the game, and said casual audience probably reacts more positively to familiar characters. They don't need to advertise the game to the huge fans as much, because they're already gonna buy the game and they're a smaller demographic anyway. It's probably going to be an uninteresting lead-up to the game release for people mostly wanting to see more of the new characters, but I'm sure they'll be in the final game. If they're not, you have plenty of reason to complain about false advertisement.I think it's a mere coincidence.
In fact, sadly I'm beginning to think that Ed Boon scrapped some of what would have been new characters, in favor of these old favorites.
Steve Beran said that in MK9 the characters that died helped clean the slate for MKX, and now some of them are back, so it seems like they changed their minds or decided not to add as many new characters in MKX, which would be truly upsetting if it's true.
As it is, even with people complaining about lack of new characters (myself included), Boon still threw a "moon" hint out which heavily hints at Reptile.
I'm not against him being in MKX, but damn man.
Where are all these NEW characters which are supposedly "more new characters than in any previous MK game," that Ed spoke of at E3????
So far there are 11 characters revealed (not including Goro), 7 of which are from MK9 (8 if Reptile is actually revealed tomorrow), and only 4 actually being new to MKX.
Technically, that game should really be MK8, because for some reason, that crossover game ended up being MK8...and crossovers don't count.Showing older characters is the marketing team's strategy for roping in people whom recognize the old characters. People will be more like, "Shiz, man! That's Raiden and Scorpion!" Which is no excuse to completely change gears after promising us a slew of new stuff...
Also, this bothers me a lot for some reason. Its probably just me, but I twitch when people call MK9 MK 2011. I mean, I don't know why. I guess I was just so used to calling it MK9, lol.

That's pretty much what I'm expecting. Only 8-10 new guys and 1 or 2 post-MK3 (ignoring Quan Chi). Hopefully, they add more post-MK3 with DLC, but I wouldn't be surprised if they used DLC to mostly bring back the missing trilogy favorites.Which sucks, because it's killed most of my hype for it.
I'm not so hopeful that many new characters will be in the final game.
The way that these reveals are going, I see Takeda, Jacqui and maybe 2 more new characters and 1 more post-MK3, with the rest of it being an MK9 love-fest.

What do you think about question #1 in this thread?
That would suck, as I don't want MKX to just essentially be MK9.5.
As for question 1, I think the story boss and final boss will be the same person.
I just don't think it will be Liu Kang.
I think Liu Kang could come back evil or against Raiden, but I don't see him being the final boss, like everyone else does.
