Tryning to guess who will be the final boss...

I believe Sindel will be resurrected and attempt to rule the world 25 years later. She was the ultimate destroyer of Kombatants in MK9. (How did she not kill them as easily back in UMK3, I'll never know.)

Because Motaro was the leader of extermination squad in the original timeline but because of Raiden killing him, Shao Kahn enhance her and sent her to destroy the heroes in the new timeline.

OMG, yes! In one sentence you managed to explain this in a way that opened my eyes to the significance of those scenes (Raiden killing Motaro, Sindel being superpowered etc).

They were talking about Sindel being overpowered in another thread and I remembered that I had seen someone explain this really well, so I wanted to find you and give thanks. Cheers!

That or they're just completely oblivious to MK lore.

I guarantee some people that played MK9's Story thought that Raiden got his vision about Motaro because he was a "powerful warrior", and not because he killed Johnny in the original timeline, which was then subsequently averted in the new one.

Quan chi it is. He will first serve shinnok, and let him be the chief, create an army aka the brotherhood with noob, reiko, lui kang,... and then betray shinnok. Hes a return and a suprise cause you would suspect shinnok after the last scene from mk9.

Well, now that Raiden has been revealed, I think it's safe to say that we saw that rules out the "Dark/Evil Raiden" theory, the only thing i can honestly think of as being a "big suprise" and a "returning character" is evil Liu Kang....would a possible Onaga resurrection make any kind of sense? That's right about when I stopped paying close attention to the storyline, so I'm not sure if that would even be practical

I still think the surprise big bad will be Shao Kahn from the original story, reaching across time and space to undo Raiden's changes. :p

But who knows. I just hope it isn't evil Liu Kang. How would he be more threatening than a fallen Elder God or the Kahn who was victorious in Armageddon.

If the final boss is Liu Kang, I hope we have more a mix between his human and dragon form rather than Bruce Lee.

The final boss of Mortal Kombat have to be awesome. That's why I tend to place MK4 and 5 in the low tier... The first Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, Onaga and Blaze fit perfectly for boss but Shinnok, the young Tsung and Quan Chi are much less impressive character.

My gut tells me that there will be a Single Big Bad Boss Man

But I would like to see multiple Bosses throughout the 25 yr span. (For i.e Shinnok, Liu Kang & Onaga)

I think this would be a great surprise and maybe possibly reveal a New Boss, one behind the scenes for future MK games

Actually, Sindel's an interesting possibility... Given that she appeared in Quan Chi's lineup of marionettes, it looks as though the power of Nightwolf's shaft (lol) of light was that it merely killed them both. That would be consistent with the deal between Quan Chi and Shao Khan for the souls of the fallen.

Something tells me that these souls aren't lost forever. Quan Chi might use them somehow in the story of MKX, but it shouldn't be forgotten that Sindel was much more than a single soul when she died. She was an amalgam of herself and a powerful sorcerer, plus all the souls he had absorbed over the centuries. I don't imagine that even Quan Chi's necromancy can fully control such a being.

It would be a fun and surprising twist if she were able to break free of his control at a crucial point in the story. I'll admit it, part of why I like this idea is that this franchise has never had a female as its main antagonist. Granted, Sindel's rampage was a huge plot point in MK9, but fighting against her as Nightwolf felt really anticlimactic for me, because she was waaay too easy. After seeing all those beloved characters murdered, I was expecting much more of a challenge.

Plus I just don't see Mileena as an auspicious enough villain to ever be a true 'big bad.' The only other interesting possibility for a female big bad would be this mysterious inter-dimensional body-snatcher who appears in Jade's ending. I don't imagine NRS would introduce that concept and have it come to nothing, but then... the same can't really be said of Sonya's ghost-dad. That needs to go away.

What if the final boss of MKX is Smoke... Not the Smoke we know, but the demon in him.

When he was killed by Sindel, he went to Netherrealm but we can think that the demon survive and regain his own body. That would be more interesting that my other suppositions.

My money is on Liu Kang being the BOSS
I'd love it if NRS' did this. It'd be suprising and it'd be something not a whole lot of people would suspect.
On a side note, can the original poster please fix that spelling mistake in the title? It irks me.

If Ed Boon said the final boss of the game is a surprise returning character then what about Sektor as the main boss? I doubt anyone would expect him to be the main boss. Sektor can enhance his cybernetics and create an army of cyber demons.
