The Tone of MKX

I can go with the existence of Superman.
The premise is that he has superhuman strength.
But, if MKvsDC had a finisher where Superman punched someone in the head and that made their legs explode, I would still have thought it was ridiculous and stupid, no matter how hard I try to suspend disbelief.

Would you complain if that was Chuck Norris instead of Superman? Even though Chuck Norris is that bad-ass?

If it was a full-on silly game I'd totally embrace it and laugh my ass off.
I'm not a bitter ass.
Man, I paid for Goat Simulator.
I'm all in for stupid.

But MK is not a game in which I want to see stupid.
Whether you like it or not, we have to agree there's a difference in the dedication put into a fatality where Kung Lao splits someone vertically with his hat (pretty cool, implausible as it may seem) and one where Sonya holds his victim between her legs in a handstand, and when she separates her legs, the victim is inexplicably split in half, allegedly by force of some unknown magical power as explained by Araknyd Commander.

I also believe Cage was killed during the events of MKII. And at some point of MK3 Raiden managed to save his soul which explains his appearance in MKT. In each installment up Deadly Alliance he seemed far more serious (despite his MK4 ending if that counts or not) than he did in MK9..

But then again we never got to see him really talk and interact with characters in such a way until MK9's story mode so whose to say that's not how he was intended to be portrayed?

Johnny Cage wasn't killed in the events of Mortal Kombat 2. He was killed when the invasion started. He was killed by the extermination squad in MK3. You can also see it in the Mortal Kombat 9's story mode when Raiden had a vision of Johnny dying but he was saved and Raiden killed Motaro. Thus killing Motaro messed up the timeline(just wanted to throw it out there).

I felt like the only way we could go interact with the characters back then were the bios. As I read them in order, it got more serious than it was before. Like their role in the series got bigger. Johnny is one of them/

Never even realized that before!

Good shit, Aldo! :)

Really? THAT bothers you the most out of all the unrealistic things MK has produced over the years? It is okay to produce iceballs with your bare hands, defy gravity, summon lightning, teleport or blow someone with a kiss, but not splitting someone in half with legs - that is just too crazy for MK!

On a more serious note though, there are better fatalities in the game, but that fatality also appeared in MK4 so I thought it was nice to see it being brought back.

Kudos for reading just the last post and giving a reply that only reiterates something that has already been said and replied to.
This.

You forgot about Johnny Cage uppercutting multiple heads.

Does it also bother you that Stryker has infinite ammo during matches?

Like c'mon dude, seriously? Nitpicking over something so silly.

You got to forgive my memory. and I didn't even catch that about Motaro. Nice. That all makes more since now.

I did read your whole post and fact is that most of the fatalities in MK would not be possible in real life - if you want to question Sonya's ability to split someone's body in two with her legs, then you also have to question how can Mileena rip of a person's head, how can Johnny Cage do the torso rip fatality, etc... By doing that, you would pretty much take all the fun away from MK - video games would not be fun if they were real-life.

the blood and gore were good in mk9, btu the fatalities were crap, no thought at all put into them

Some of them were crap, yes. But you get that in every MK game. But most of the fatalities in MK9 were pretty fantastic, I think. Some of the best the series has had to offer.

too me personally they were just meh....I mean they didn't capitalize on the the tech....shangs tsungs were crap, why did he not do a soul drain leaving the victim look like the green dried out corpse when you fail a test on the ladder...they reserve it for that, but not tsung?

or the way the deal pool melted people on the chains, yet reptiles fatalities...where so lame an rushed...they felt unfinished...i dont know....give me a pen an paper an i will create better ones as I have done before, and I stand buy it

Like I said, some were awful... Yes. Reptile being one of the awful ones. In fact, I thought Reptile was pretty terrible in general for MK9.

I swear man, its everytime I see you post. You never have anything positive to say about MK in any way. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, and that's cool. But EVERYTHING you say is a complaint about MK in some way or another.

OT: The gameplay trailer really showed the tone MKX is going for, both with the character designs and the stages. And the fatalities and X-ray attacks are getting better.
