The MKX Tier List

Can someone explain to me what is considered "Top Tier?"
Is is based on Win/Loss Ratio or "Who can perform the longest combo/Who can perform the strongest combo?"

Who has the most tools, or who has the most effective tools.
Tools can be broken down into a variety of things. Zoning, reach, damage output, setups, mixups, spacing, speed, gimmicks etc.

Alright, thanks for the explanations. I always wondered why people said Kung Lao was top tier for the longest.

I love Mortal Kombat, but I don't think i want to play this game competitively. I heard the mechanics and some character variations are broken. Saying Ermac and Scorpion were banned or some shit.

Is the game really broken? I haven't played in a while due to some stuff going on.

It varies from player to player. An example from this very thread: A lot of people say that Ethereal Mileena is useless, but I've been dominating every match I use her in with new problems at all (even with the nerf they gave her).

It's not that she's useless, it's that the teleport isn't worth losing the bonuses you get from either of the other two.

Do you guys think that Kano's knives need to be nerfed in Cybernetic? Their recovery is almost nothing and you can throw them almost non stop. It can be hard to even jump over them sometimes. You also can't effectively trade with them. Not even with an EX ice ball with Sub-Zero. You need to use meter to get through his knives most of the time. If you use a teleport character, their input will just turn into an automatic upball punish. I would even put out an ice clone then throw an ice ball, and Kano can throw a knife to detroy the clone then have more than enough time to block the ice ball. They are way too good to be meterless. I would even start a teleport with Ermac as Kano was throwing a knife out, and he would have enough time to block and full punish.

Yup, ice clone cheesing isn't foolproof. Some matchups actually require you to press the forward button.

Nah, sounds like lag is messing you up. Go in the lab and recreate the scenario. Most Kano zoners like to throw knives at range then punish your advances with ball. Be cognizant of ball at mid range because that's where it's most dangerous.

With Ermac, you can just neutral jump a knife and punish with teleport. That "automatic upball" punish sounds like a fluke. Teleporting characters are designed to easily get it on zoners. So remember: you're the predator, he's the prey ;)

Automatic upball is definitely not a fluke. I see it happen here and there. Even in MK9. I went into the lab and realized that Sub-Zero's slide can go under mid projectiles. I didn't know that during the match. That would have helped. So then I would be able to anticipate a knife and counter with a slide. but that's risky because the slide is punishable and you have to commit to it against a knife. You can't react to it and slide. I think the best game plan in that matchup is to stay within footsie range and try to block a ball and then punish from there.

That doesn't answer my question lol. Try to use that in a high level tournament and you'll prolly understand why they say that. But then again, the game is still young. It's hard to say who's the best.

I just want to know if this game is super unbalanced or not.

Its quite balanced, so much better than Injustice and MK9.

Yeah, I think overall the character balance is wayyyy better this time out. There are a few characters who seem a bit OP (Thunder God Raiden comes to mind), but the game's still very new.

I don't even think he's OP lol, just strong. Good thing he doesn't have a teleport in this variation.

Raiden is in the top five and is considered to be the best character in the game by quite a few professional players, but I'd rather play against Raiden than Quan Chi, that's for sure. Quan Chi is absolutely ridiculous.

If you're using Mileena (Piercing) then rush him down if he isn't in the warlock variation. He has horrible wakeups so use the Armor breaker thing.

This is just my opinion. If you have any questions feel free to ask. :)
