The media ignoring Ron Paul, a top contender for President of the United States.

and

Why is the media against this guy? Perhaps because the media is owned by the same globalist machine that buys our politicians off.
Ron Paul is the only hope for America, flat out. Get some Ron Paul awareness going on, he's a front runner and we have a CHANCE to take this country back, as long as we get him into office!!
I just had Ron Paul awareness day (I made that up) earlier yesterday in my town's public park. I don't care if you are democrat or republican, this guy is the ANSWER to what we NEED right now. Please if you feel the same way I do, reach out in your community and let's jam this machine, and take back America!! ;)

Ron Paul is not a top contender, he's a fringe candidate at best, and he doesn't say wacky things to get the press to pay attention like people like Buchanan and Perry do.

I have to disagree....

And another one for you as well:

Take a look. He's definately a front runner, there's a ton of people behind 'em. This guy is not the Nader of politics, he's actually got a lot of capability to do what needs to be done, in my opinion. Smaller government, that's what we need right now, and badly. You know it's bad when police shut down 3 year old childrens lemonade stands for 'not having a license'.

It's getting rediculous!

Not surprising Ron Paul's official site will claim he's a contender, every other poll shows him a trailing practically every other GOP candidate.

Also I would like to ask what exactly is it that Paul stands for that resonates with you so strongly? I will give him credit for standing by this Libertarian principles but those have been proven time and time again to be completely unworkable on a national level. What's worse, he was the inspiration for the Tea Party movement and stood back and did nothing while it was co-opted by right wing corporate interests.

I agree with you on the Tea Party, it was hijacked by right wing corporate interests. Paul resonates with me because of, well, this entire debate:
I think he nails it right on the head in every topic. This is what we need, pull the troops back home, fix the borders, eliminate the Federal Reserve, and create smaller government.
I'd say the biggest issue he's going to fix is the Federal Reserve.
Our country needs to coin it's own money, instead of relying on the foreign bank known as the Federal Reserve.
His economic plans are fantastic.

OK, everyone wants smaller government, my question is what are you willing to give up to achieve this? Do you want safe food that won't cause disease? Can't cut the FDA. Want everyone to have access to basic education no matter if they come from a wealthy family or not? Can't cut the Department of Education. Like having clean air and water? Can't cut the EPA. Like having a nationwide road and air system to allow goods and services to be moved around the country to keep the economy afloat? Can't cut the Department of Transportation. Jon Stewart said it best, when it benefits other people they're simply "entitlement programs". When you need them, they're the hallmark of a decent society.

The problem the things most Libertarians want to cut are the staples of basic human society. Their idea of a true Free Market society is to remove all government regulations and guidelines which is the exact kind of thing that created the disaster in the banking sector. All kinds of regulations were removed/relaxed in the years leading up to the implosion, which led to the beloved Free Market running amok and grabbing people's cash with both hands. If it wasn't so painfully obvious that corporations can't be trusted to not take full advantage of not having to do things like keep the environment clean or take advantage of people, then the Libertarian outlook on life would be far more reasonable.

Finally, there needs to be someone to step up and point out that the GOP solution of "we should just get rid of social programs instead of fixing them" is not an valid option. We've had nearly 30 years of the Grover Norquist "drowning government in the bathtub" approach when it comes to dealing with government programs, and all it ends up doing is hurting people who need them and leads to privatizing of service by for-profit companies instead of government doing it for the public good.

Ron Paul is a joke. He was a joke in 2008, he is no less of a joke now.

 That doesn't support your argument for Ron Paul at all. Paul is for smaller FEDERAL government and more power to the state and local governments...that's a story about local government.

Some of the things Ron Paul says I absolutely love (like leaving the Middle East we have no damn right to be there), but then other things he says makes me wonder if he's a bit senile. Iran should have nukes? A country who has promised the total destruction of Israel and death to America?

Unfortunately he would have no chance winning, so if the right truly wants to win the next election they better nominate Rick Perry. Romney is just too moderate, and we all know what happened the last time the GOP ran a moderate candidate, Obama creamed him. Bachmann is a moron, Herman Cain is a good guy but he doesn't have the name recognition, Huntsman is a RHINO, and Newt is hated by too many. If they run Perry it'll be the extreme right vs the extreme left, I'll sit back crack open a beer and watch as all hell breaks loose. This will be the ugliest election in history mark my words, no matter who the GOP nomination is, but especially if it's Perry.

Ron Paul should be elected President of the Dinghat States of America, and he can take those Tea Party loons with him. On a crappy raft.

John Huntsman, however, would make a far better (front-runner) GOP candidate. For one, he doesn't allege the world was made 7,000 years ago, and knows that all this shit we're doing to our planet on a daily basis is having a cumulative effect on our environment (and that global warming isn't just a leftist excuse to slash corporate profits). However, he isn't controversial precisely because of the fact that he's a comparatively rational moderate republican.

I am not American but i would definitely vote for Ron Paul after watching this speech, it seems he truly understands about the situation in the Middle East. If anyone of you is American do not let this guy fail, vote for him because it seems like he can achieve peace.
