Thank you midway for.....

Showing us how lazy one company could be.

Seriously folks, some people have waited months for these "new" characters.......well, almost new.....so, the fatalities have been imported from Deadly alliance, the moves aswell except the endings.

So, the new characters (not goro and shao kahn) have, no new moves, only 1 fatality, no hara-kiri and blaze......well.....still as boring as he'll ever be.

it's just their attempt at getting all the characters together and having a way to say "this is why they won't be in the game next time". they weren't really TRYING to improve upon much this time around

My only 3 gripes about MK : Unchained are the controls during Konquest Mode, the loading times, and the fact that Sonya is missing.
Other than that, it's a fine handheld game overall.
(Al tough I'm not sure if I prefer this one over Tekken : Dark Resurrection.)

Ahh yea, konquest, the camera angles are far too dodgy at times. Loading times? yea thats one problem.

Tekken is the better fighter for the PSP at the moment. Got it on release and it sure as hell didnt dissappoint

Which is pretty much what midway promised. Were you expecting a brand new game? They told us it'd be mortal Kombat Decetion, with some of the characters from Deadly Alliance in it, and that's what we got. Tbh, I wasn't expecting a conquest mode or all that stuff, but we got it didn't we? Sonya Blade wasn't even in MKD, so why should she be in MKU? Not like she's a particularly interesting character anyway, just a female Guile. And as for being worse than Tekken DR? Was TDR better than MKD? Yes. So you already knew it wasn't going to be as good. This forum is supposed to be for people who LIKE MORTAL KOMBAT. Seems like whenever a new one comes out, everyone just looks for the bad points, rather than seeing it for what it is, in this case a game we've all played already.

Well story is the thing I care about most when they add characters. As long as the bios and endings are good I couldn't care less if they're just ported from MKDA.

I SALUTE YOU! :ciao:

Like I said in my post.
"It's a fine handheld game overall."
I was just pointing out some of the complaints I have with MKU.
I like MK just as much as the next guy/gall on this forum.
And if there are certain things that I don't like about an MK game, I think it's perfectly acceptable to point them out on an MK forum.
Because discussing MK games is what this place is here for.

As for Sonya not being in MKU because she wasn't in MKD, neither were Kitana, Jax, Frost and Blaze. (Not that I'm complaining that they are in there.)
But I was just pointing out that fact because Sonya is my favorite character that's all.

I agree about pointing out flaws. My general complaint on the past three MK's and this port is that despite them being touted as sequels (MKD and MKA specifically), the core fighting engine doesn't show it at all. It wouldn't be farfetched to even say that upgrade versions of games like T5 Dark Resurrection and VF4 Evolution and Final Tuned added much more to the original versions than any of the recent MK sequels. Heck, Sega and Namco went as far as adding new characters, backgrounds, overhaul the audio and tweak the engine in addition to new moves.

In Unchained's case, they didn't really promise much so I can't complain. Comparing it to TDR from a quality aspect alone would be valid however, and well... MKU lags behind considerably.

I've yet to find MKU anywhere. The only reason for me to get it is to pass time when I'm not home. So the added characters don't even have multiple fatalities? I guess I could work with that. Are all things unlocked? I ask this cause I can't play Conkest: my eyes are broke. Also, I must ask Umon Daisuke though, are you saying that the first 3 Mortal Kombat games are not sequels? They mostly added little things, just like the home games you speak of.

Well, the first wasn't a sequel :P I'm not saying that MKD and MKA aren't sequels, but the core engine didn't evolve much (4 years later, we get a simple parry system for example). Anyway, MKII certainly added quite a bit to the original MK engine-wise. Juggles were in full swing, and for 1993 standards, the additions of characters and whatnot were considerable for sure. When you play MKII, the engine is distinct, which is more than I can say when you switch between MKD and MKA.

Then you have MK3 and UMK3 that added a LOT more to the series than the average player doesn't realize (Shock & co. combo vids are great showcases for that).

EDIT: Btw, Dark Resurrection, Evolution and Final Tuned weren't enhanced home versions of their original titles. There were arcade versions of each title and Final Tuned didn't even see a home release.

mk unchaind was very fun with the six new charectors to play as and the only problums i had with was the camara angle in konquest mode and the last problom is loading times them took forever

Lets face it the new characters were to encourage you to buy the game again to recieve a bonus anyway.

MKU is an alright game, they did fix some problems with MKD and MKDA but seriously dude. Get UMK3 DS, PSP sucks with MK games overall....MKU isn't too bad though it's more or less MKD with MK:DA characters in it.
