he's not a character in the game he's some kind of multiplier or special pick up.

...They don't even show the Tower images for the discolored characters, so how do you even know?

We didn't see the challenge tower for Zombie Goro or Yellow-Blue Shao Kahn.

Come on, use your head. It's Cyrax. It's the same damn model.

The only way I can see it being Smoke is if it's some kind of pallet swap battle.
 
It looks like its Cyrax, not Robo-Smoke. The one that is not selected is dimmer than the one that is selected in the tower. Look at the beginning. The selected Jax is normally colored while the other Jax picture just above it is much darker. So, when they scroll past Baraka to the robot, it wasn't highlighted and hence it is Cyrax but darkened.

Anyway, wow what an update! Classic Scorpion and Sub-Zero!! They look good. The bottom of the Pit! Awesome! The whole Challenge Tower is a fantastic idea and will keep us hooked for hours and hours. The Bridge also looks amazing....can't wait!!

Level 300 should be beating 3 bosses w/o taking a hit.(Goro, Shao Kahn, and maybe Kintaro)

Judging by the programmers sentence structure the reward could be unlocking Shao Kahn but I never thought he was incredibly fun to play as. I think a better reward would be some sort of half retro/half 2011 hybrid. Sort of like what Mario Galaxy 2 pulls off on certain levels.

Nah. Pause the video just as it transitions from the tower to Mike. You can see the Tower highlight "The Hard Way". Cyrax remains gray even though the coin symbol is very much yellow.
 
I haven't played Mario Galaxy 2 but that would be a cool idea. I hope that's not the way to unlock Shao Kahn, that would be lame and he isn't that fun to play with.
 
That video was so many levels of awesome that I don't even know what to say about it. So I'll just watch it over and over.
 
Wow is all i can say...this looks PHENOMINAL!! A great update indeed, and i hope we get more this week.

We haven't even seen the new Krypt yet either!!!
 
Regarding the Smoke debate, I don't think NRS would reveal the character w/out the usual pomp and circumstance. I think it's Cyrax - in many of the past videos Cyrax's color has been a bit dark, almost grayish.

They have certain levels that are throw back to the original games yet still fun, challenging, and modern in its own way.

How cool would it be to unlock some mode where they have all the MK,1,2,3 arenas and the 2011 characters fighting in them. Or vice versa
 
Anyone notice Shao Kahn's green hammer? Another prediction by lupinko.

Otherwise, this is pretty much the best video they've come out with so far.
 
this just got me even more excited!! ..i wonder what you get when you beat the last challenge ..but everything looks amazing.. game modes, stages, character models and the challenge tower!!
