Tekken Thread: All things Tekken related

As all my years as a human being,I didn't ever think that I would see Heihachi cry D:.

Now I'm so amped to see how the story goes (causal fgt alert by the way)

Guy on SRK posted his speculation on it based on an article that recently came out

According to Polygon, Tekken 7 will act as the end to the story’s Mishima saga, and will touch on topics like why Heihachi has been trying to kill his grandson Jin Kazama, who exactly Devil Jin is, and more. The studio is still working to develop the basic gameplay mechanics, and as such had no gameplay to show during the panel

"There is a "secret" behind Devil Jin? I thought it was just the devil gene passed down to Jin through Kazuya aka business as usual. This implies that Devil Jin is, in fact, NOT something created by the devil gene. Thinking back to Tekken 3's intro, the "Devil" (?) just appeared and branded Jin with that devil mark when he was fairly young, so I guess he wasn't born with it. Speculation time: the "Devil" that appeared to Jin in the woods and branded him was mama Mishima... or her ghost/spirit/whatever. Come to think of it, Kazuya wasn't born with the devil gene either. After he was thrown from the cliff by Heihachi, Kazuya, in extreme desperation, made a deal with the devil, who granted him the devil gene powers. Again, the "devil" might have been mama Mishima doing work... you know, trying to protect her son and what not.

I'd wager that the reason Heihachi has been trying to kill Kazuya and Jin for all these years is to "set free" the devils locked within them, which may bring mama Mishima's spirit back to him. Maybe he's been wanting to see her for all these years since he allegedly killed her. Maybe to talk things out and explain himself. I dunno... shit's ed. If they put in work into this game's story mode, it could actually be pretty legit." - SWBeta

Fvck dude thanked that dude for me.

So the reason for Mama Mishima is that she wants to protect her son and Jin?
Then who opened the door in that trailer?

Was that Kazuya having finally learned the truth?

LOL honestly bro, given that there's ZERO story details/premise for MKX, I can't help but be less excited for it. That'll probably all change once more details come out.

Well...I don't know what to say...

First I think Heihachi killed Kazumi, and now a curveball like this?

Tell me about it, if Kazumi somehow is "resurrected" by the Devil Gene, he's gonna have to kill 3 Mishimas if he really wants to end the bloodline/curse.

I'll be honest, I have no idea why Tekken makes me hype for story.

Same for Mortal Kombat. I just want to know everything about the story

Because like mk tekken has always had a somewhat consistent easy to understand story that is actually good for a fighter
Taj Gill lets not forget the fact that the whole world hates his ass now for shitstorm he brought with the massive war just to lure out an out of place Egyptian monstrosity that had nothing to with the devil gene in the first place

At least there is xiaoyu for him if he gets lonely then again that might be worse

Because it's compelling shit, that's what draws me to these two fighting games more than any other fighting game, the amazing stories.

Game play just has to have the core elements that are in all Tekken/MK games in order for me to enjoy it, I could really care less about it.

SWBeta brings up some good points

Shieeet, I'm turning into one of those casual phegs thinking about how the storyline is gonna play out. What if moms/Hei discovered the devil in moms, and she made Heihachi promise to murk her if the devil got out of control. That temple where she was chilling was probably when the devil went batshit and Heihachi had to put a stop to it. With a little bit of retconning, they can use this angle to explain why he threw Kazuya off the cliff and why he shot Jin point blank in the head: the devil that possessed Kazumi manifested itself in Kazuya, and again in Jin, meaning Heihachi had to bite the bullet and kill his son and grandson too, to end the devil. That would make Hei the tragic hero type. That's probably the best direction they can go with Hei--he's too likable by the Tekken fanbase now to be labeled as a pure evil villain (he's done a shit ton of good things as well that many people seem to forget, not to mention some "good" characters are very close to him--Xiaoyu calls him grandpa and Kuma has stuck with him all this time). Jin and Kazuya's phaggot asses are a lot more unlikable than Hei at this point.

ByrdBrain that is true, however I don't think Jin gives a damn. If anything he'll probably kill himself after those three are dead.

If that's the story of course.

SWBeta makes some decent points, but would they really retcon all the story points like Heihachi wanting to obtain the Devil Gene for himself and become the most powerful being on earth?

Judging from the quotes bbblp is pulling it seems a lotta light will be shined on heihachi at this point
Perhaps his conquest for the world the tournaments attempted and continuous murder of his own kin maybe all of that heihachi is doing it to escape from the pain of the deed that he has wrought on the moms maybe beneath his cruel nature and hilarious endings he is a truly hollow broken man

Also Taj Gill maybe he may do like Jin and kill himself when it's all over

I'm officially more stoked for Tekken 7 than MKX at this point. That trailer was INSANE.

I'm a self-admitted shameless MK junkie, I haven't been hooked on anything besides Injustice since I found MK back in the mid-'90s. Partially it is because I'm a PC gamer and I have never owned a console (maybe I'll buy a PS4 for MKX) but Tekken has never really excited me. This trailer is good but it's nothing compared to the adrenaline rush I got when the MKX trailer came out.
