Tatsunoko vs. Capcom

You might have missed it, but Boxing is a pretty legendary and popular form of fighting. You know what else? There IS a lot of strategy involved in Boxing, and you have to study (if you're in the Major leagues, at least) your opponent's technique. Punch-Out!! may be cartoonish, but it's a pretty accurate Boxing game. Boxing is all about strategy, technique and right timing.

You might like to know that Punch-Out!! has a versus mode, where 2 players can box, i.e. fight.

I'm almost afraid to inquire as to what qualifies a title as a fighting game for you.

But as a genre, Punch Out!!! is not considered a FIGHTING GAME. Boxing IS fighting, I know that, I know it takes strategy. But you can't call it a fighting GAME, not in this case. It's you against an opponent with patterns. Stop splitting hairs when it's obvious what I mean.

And the others are compilations of fighting games previously available on other consoles, and due to the controls probably the worse versions of these.

yes, very true.

PunchOut!, Fight Night & even UFC would all be considered sports or sports simulation.

But that's not even what I'm saying Tim. UFC and Fight Night still follow the genre rules of fighting games. Punch Out!! is completely different.

The new UFC game makes me envy those of you with a 360.

Played it for a couple of hours last weekend at a friend's house. Fantastic stuff.

no life bars for one, and they are still sports, and the games are trying to simulate those sports. Thus, sports simlulation.

yes, the game is flippin amazing for sure. Deep, deep, deep...

but after playing the demo for FNR4, i think UFC is the must have of the 2 (yes, its a demo and the arcadeyness (NEW WORD!) feel to it i think is a step back from what Round 3 was.

Damn. I haven't played the demo yet, but I was sorely looking forward to Round 4. How is it arcadey?

its so fast, you stand there and just punch punch punch. I hope its just the AI, or something fixable.

and FTR, the team that made Round 3 IS NOT the team who made Round 4.

But in the end, i hope the final product is better.

Drops 6/23/09

I've got better games to get that day. Overlord II, Overlord: Dark Legend, and The Conduit for instance.
