any update on how to counter teleporters? my sub-zero (probaly like many) use the ice clone alot to help control space but sometimes I get punished with the teleport. Now it might be the lag online that I can't block it but are there any techniques?

A tip I can give you is this: it is not the online lag, the ice clone does have a short recovery time in which you cannot block. If your opponent is able to consistently punish your ice clones with a teleport, that means you are throwing out the ice clones at incorrect times. Try throwing out your ice clones only:

1) when your opponent jumps towards you.

2) when your opponent is blocking in anticipation. they won't be able to let go of block and do the teleport input in reaction to your ice clone fast enough.

3) after a blocked string, such as B121 - Ice Clone or 224 - Ice Clone.

4) when your opponent is on the floor. many characters, such as Lao and Cage, use their wake up attacks to take control of the match. take back control by not rushing them while they're on the floor, and zoning them with an Ice Clone instead.

Remember, Sub-Zero is not a fast character. Sub-Zero is a counter character. You don't want to take the initiative in putting up the Ice Clone, because the faster character will punish you. The Ice Clone should only be put up in reaction to something they initiate.

Learn to keep the Ice Clone unpunished, and I promise you will learn to love teleporters. All you will have to do is block then punish with B12 - Ice Ball - B12 (miss the B1 on purpose) - 212 - Ice Slide. Or, even better, you can jump forward and let them hit your Ice Clone, then punish with NJP - B12 - 212 - Ice Slide.

I hope that helps.

Re: Sub-Zero Thread - "Feel the Cold Embrace of Death"

By the way those njp ex ground freeze combos can be escaped with a wake-up attack

Re: Sub-Zero Thread - "Feel the Cold Embrace of Death"

I'm looking forward to see this combo either in a video or explained by someone, somehow. I just don't understand how you do this Combo, but if anyone knows a video link to it please let me know.
66% Combo 12 Hits: [2,1,2 - Ice Ball - Dash - JK]-[Ice Puddle - 2,1,4 - X-ray]

Re: Sub-Zero Thread - "Feel the Cold Embrace of Death"

I found a neat thing in a video that I was watching earlier.

Apparently if you wear Sub's alt costume, he voiced by Bi-Han. So depending on which costume you use, you'll have different VA.

Re: Sub-Zero Thread - "Feel the Cold Embrace of Death"

Can anyone confirm what people said about Sub-Zero in this thread?

How badly was his combo damage nerfed? Did the Ice Ball really get faster? Did they change the properties of the Ice Slide, Ice Puddle, or Ice Clone?

I'll definitely use these when my sparring partner and I partner get together. I have been using the ice clone to 'counter'/stop wake up attacks so it is a start.
thanks :)

Guys, Tom Brady answered a lot of my questions on the stream yesterday, especially regarding the advantages of the 22 string over the B12 string. So expect some major updates to my guide.

Glad I could be of service. :D

Hey man, you have many good info, is it ok if include some in the original guide post? Thanx.

And im really interested in the advantages of 2,2 over B+1,2; its a lot easier to perform, and faster.

Some people SZ is faster after the patch, is this true? I dont note an increase on the speed...

Of course! We're all here to share. ^_^

The first hit of 22 isn't any faster than the first hit of B12. And I wouldn't say 22 is easier to perform. If you're already pulling off the more advanced Sub-Zero combos, B12 is most likely muscle memory for you. The big reason is 22 is safer. And 22 cannot be jumped over. As we all know, JPS is a huge factor in this game.

Tom Brady said there were no speed increases for Sub-Zero in the current patch. I think it is more of a placebo effect, with everyone being aware that there are patch changes. But I cannot confirm anything, considering I am still playing the unpatched version of the game.

Re: Sub-Zero Thread - "Feel the Cold Embrace of Death"

What i really meant is that i think 2,2 covers more distance and at some point I see it faster, but yes you are right it is safe against jumps.

Re: Sub-Zero Thread - "Feel the Cold Embrace of Death"

i love the jps 22 ice ball b12 212 xray

you can change the 2,1,2 before x.ray with 2,1,4; you will get more damage. To make it work you have to hold L2+R2 for like 0.25 seconds, yh sounds ridiculous but thats how it works.

Re: Sub-Zero Thread - "Feel the Cold Embrace of Death"

UPDATE

I finally got access to an X-Box connected to the internet. Hallelujah. After hours of testing with the new patch, I have updated the Sub-Zero guide. The update includes:

1) New max damage combos
2) New post patch damage outputs
3) New methods regarding how to deal with an opponent frozen parallel to the ground
4) New details regarding how the E Ice Beam gives you more combo damage than the Ice Ball

Visit the link in my sig.

Don't know if I'm crazy but am I wrong in thinking they added a few more ice particals when a frozen enemy shatters
