Did any of that stop them from making MK3 without Scorpion or Deadly Alliance without Liu Kang in it in the past? NO

Scorpion and Liu Kang are among the 4 top recognizable characters (along with Sub-Zero and Raiden), and NRS Midway made games without them in the past.

None of those chars were at the status they are NOW... and could afford to be absent, nor was WB involved.
Id like to see Scorpion absent a MK these days... oh yea thats right, IT WONT HAPPEN.

Liu being killed off actually help sell DA because they intrigued us with it.

THESE DAYS, at their Status, none of those 4 can afford to be absent a game.

Scorpion won't be absent another game because he's Ed Boon's favorite character.

Liu being killed off wasn't hinted at until you actually played the story and were in that "OMG, WTF???" moment.
None of Deadly Alliance was ever promoted or advertised as not having Liu Kang in it.

I'm not saying that they would be totally absent, but having them as DLC is a very real possibility (albeit and unfavorable one), considering that WB also wants to make money and those 2 would sell like hot-cakes.
Did people complaining about Freddy or Kratos stop them from including them as DLC and on the main roster in MK9, or did people complaining about Scorpion being in Injustice stop them from putting him in as DLC? NO

He's always been, even when Scorp was not in MK3.

I did not say it was.
I said his absence helped it sell instead of turned away people such as Scorpion or Sub Zero's absence could possibly do Nowadays. More people tend to buy the game once they've seen it and heard about it after its release. Hearing the champ died from shang tsung (his rival, i guess) was a WTF moment that helped sell the game.

By the time fans complain about DLC, its generally too late to do anything about it. added to the fact that you dont have to buy it.

Sure, and I'll admit that Scorpion being absent from MK3 was probably more of an "Oops, we forgot to include him" thing, rather than Ed Boon not putting him in.
Especially since he's his favorite character.

It didn't help sell the game because people didn't know that Liu Kang dies until they played the story.
Considering that Deadly Alliance sold 3.5 million copies, and it was coming off the heels of MK4, lots of those were probably pre-orders, without people knowing the plot of MK: DA.
The few that bough it after the fact don't account for the majority of people that got the game, and played it for the first time, and had a "WTF" moment.

Not really.
Ed Boon posted various Tweets asking fans for DLC characters for MK9, and people kept b****ing to him about Rain, so he included him.
Rain was the only MK9 DLC character that was included after being hounded by the fans because he wasn't on the main roster (an MK1 thru UMK3 roster, I might add).
The other highest requested DLC characters were Fujin, Reiko, Tanya and Cyber-Smoke, none of which made it as DLC.

I prefer Araknyd's method of returning subzero personally. I get noob, CSZ, and SZ that way.

I'm hoping for that.
Even if it means that SZ is not unlocked from the start, or at least via the Krypt (since he's dead, lol).

You could include Noob by saying that Sub Zero returned to the Netherrealm but most of the darkness residing in himself split and took form again creating a mostly "light" half and pure dark half. That or make the Noob Zero from the MKA ending.

I like that.

I wanted to write something similar (a 2nd part) with Noob being sent to the Chaos Realm, similar to his MK9 ending, where he meets up with Havik, and they join forces to over-take Quan Chi.
Noob would then become the new ruler of the NetherRealm.
Noob Saibot's MK9 ending would actually be awesome to see played out in MK10.

Id like to hear it from the man himself.

Well if you can give me an actual count of how many people bought the game before(pre order) and after its release that will determine what the majority of the 3.5 mill was. 'Probably' is speculation. Lots of speculations seem to make sense but sometimes its far from the truth...

No I mean when DLC of Freddy is Promoted which means most of his game mechanics and shit has been created, its too late to "not include him" because of fans disapproval. again added to the fact that u dont have to buy him.

That way we can have Zero go on his own route which could be teaming up with Scorpion to defeat Quan Chi, defeating Scorpion or destroying the rest of the Lin Kuei for turning his comrades into cyborgs. While Noob becomes the ruler of the Netherrealm and defeats Shinnok himself. Eventually both characters engage in combat and become one new being altogether after all the growth and change they have gone through over the sequels.

Me too, but having Scorpion absent when he's the creator's favorite character, doesn't seem like it was done on purpose.

Considering that MK9 was at 3 million sales, 2 years ago, it's safe to say that a majority of the people who picked up Deadly Alliance either pre-ordered it or bought it brand new.

Freddy was the 4th DLC, and Ed Boon was asking fans for DLC characters that they wanted way before Skarlet (the first DLC character) was even released.

I agree that you don't have to buy that character (as far as Freddy goes), but in the case of Sub-Zero (if he DOES end up being DLC for MK10), that means that I would be missing out on my favorite character.

I like that addition, but if Bi-Han does get resurrected, I want him to evolve as Sub-Zero and I want Noob Saibot to evolve as the new NetherRealm ruler.
Maybe Noob even gets power-hungry, being the new ruler, and starts building up his own army for MK11.

May not have been but I dont think it was an "oops" either... Surprised no one has asked Boon that.

I don't think he would because he is at such a status now where he is a necessity . To have a Roster that does NOT have Sub Zero on the initial roster? and its not like DLC comes out a day after the game. People could wait but...they would buy the game once he came out as DLC.

I could see Kitana and/or Jade or Kung lao being DLC, but not Sub Zero nor Scorpion or any of the 4 MK Icons. It just wont happen.

I would put Lao over Raiden any day. But that is just me. Anyways, I sorta agree with Gouki somewhat. Especially when Sub Zero not just Scorpion have made this series what it is. You really cant have Sub Zero without Scorpion and vice versa since Scorpion was there in Mythologies, Sub Zero was Scorpions main motivation for entering the tournament and after the death of both Zeros there is no reason for Scorpion to continue fighting unless they want to do a Noob vs Scorpion deal.

I just hope we have both iterations of Subby (Han and Liang), as well as Noob. It's MK after all, you can come up with some nonsensical story to make it happen lol. I'll leave the thinking to the more creative minds. :)

I think Noob Saibot not being Bi-Han makes him as useless of a character as say a chameleon. He instantly loses status by not being Bi-Han. That also leaves a whole other character who is still known as Sub-zero who would then be left with nothing. It just makes more problems than solutions bringing Bi-Han back as Sub-zero. Noob Saibot and Bi-Han are the same I still hold to that. If they are separated then I want Scorpion and Hanzo Hasashi separated as well. Just saying thats what you guys are supporting here.

Plus Kuai Liang has been Sub-zero for the majority of the series minus 1 fighting game. That one game just so happened to be the first though so automatically hes not as good as Bi-Han apparently. He had two chapters as Sub-Zero in MK9 guys, while his brother basically got a couple of lines. Im pretty sure Kuai Liang is Sub-Zero at this point.

I agree with this totally, however for story purposes, some shit is gonna have to happen because clearly NRS didn't think of the consequences of making Kuai a refrigerator in MK9's story.

Noob Saibot doesn't need to be Bi-Han.
He's the same as Sub-Zero, just a name.

I've already posted this theory before, but I'll post it again anyway.

The entire story of Deadly Alliance. Quan Chi cannot transfer souls between bodies, that's why he needed Shang Tsung. Noob Saibot says it himself in MK9 "Quan Chi restored me." How can Quan Chi restore Bi Han if he cannot control souls? What I'm thinking is Quan Chi used his necromancy to resurrect Bi Han as a zombie, then used some Netherrealm parasite (Saibot) to attach itself to the corpse, giving it semi-free will and ensuring that there was no way Bi Han's soul could return to the occupied body. It makes more sense when Noob says to Kuai 'We share blood, but we are not brothers'. He's pretty much saying "I am not the man you think I am, I'm just wearing his skin". He has access to his memories, but not his feelings. This is why I think when Noob Saibot was knocked into the Soulnado, Saibot was ripped from his body and Bi Han may have been reunited with his soul.
