[SPOILER] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX confirmed!

Re: [SPOILER, RUMOR] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX is...

It could be Kuai Liang just as easily as Bi-Han, but make no mistake, it's one of the two.

And I don't remember which thread it was, but somebody had the audacity to take my "Sub-Zero is Shang Tsung" post from several months (and even more pages) ago and take it way too seriously. I have a message for that person...learn how to take a damn joke!

Besides what everyone else has already said, there's this exchange:

The Red Dragon mook is under the impression that this Sub-Zero served Quan Chi. Do you think it's common knowledge that Noob Saibot used to be Sub-Zero? I don't think it is, and that means this has to be Kuai Liang.

Did you not play Mythologies?

I find it hilarious how people (not you, in general) love to debate that Mythologies IS canon, then they do a 180 and act as if Bi-Han didn't serve Quan Chi before MK1.

Re: [SPOILER, RUMOR] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX is...

I did not!

How many years before MK1 is Mythologies? I don't think that Shawn Kittelsen would work that hard to throw us off - if anything, I feel like his hints have been very straight-forward. He all but confirmed Reptile's identity weeks ago, he's talked up the different costumes we've seen Subz wear in the comic... I don't think he's going out of his way to mislead us. The Lin Kuei are assassins, not Quan Chi's pets. And furthermore, if you're going to associate Bi Han with a master, Shang Tsung makes far more sense after MK9 (in which Tsung orders the Lin Kuei around, while Quan Chi has Subz killed).

This is all circumstantial evidence if we take Mythologies to be canon, but combined with the "Lord Raiden," the scar, the costume, and the very different faces, it's adding up to be a circumstantial landslide.

Mythologies takes place 1 or 2 years before MK1 in the old timeline (aka 1 or 2 years before the beginning of MK9, if it's even canon this time around).
Shawn Kittelsen has also said that he's been a huge MK fan since day 1, so I wouldn't be surprised if it WAS a nod at that.
Also, notice how both Boon and Shawn Kittelsen are pretty mum about "who" Sub-Zero actually is?
Raiden had mentioned that Sub-Zero defeated the armies of Quan Chi and Shinnok, after Scorpion killed him in MK9, though, as he did in Mythologies.
IF Mythologies is canon (which I don't believe it is), Quan Chi would have been Bi-Han's master 2 times in the MK9 timeline.
Once as Bi-Han Sub-Zero and again as Noob Saibot.

Lord Raiden could also be applied to Bi-Han, if his soul was "not corrupted, freed" as the MKX intro line between him and Ermac seems to suggest.
Noob Saibot was known as the purest form of corruption.

Re: [SPOILER, RUMOR] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX is...

It's a new sub-zero in the game. the term "brother" is in reference to OTHER LIN KUEI, not Bi han or Kuai Liang. And if its is in reference to this new subzero's brother, whose to say it isn't someone else? ya know, millions of people have brothers duh. Its not Kuai, its Not Han. Its someone "NEW". period! NEEEEEEEEXT!!!

I don't buy any of that, especially with Scorpion calling this Sub-Zero a "murderer" (an obvious reference to Bi-Han), Scorpion asking him how it feels to be dead (which is an obvious reference to 1 of the 2 brothers, since both have died in this new timeline) and with MKX Sub-Zero telling Ermac that his soul isn't corrupted but freed (which sounds more like Bi-Han).

NEEEEEEEEEEEEXT!!!

Re: [SPOILER, RUMOR] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX is...

Yeah, its definitely one of the two. Im leaning toward Bi-Han, but we shall see.

NEEEEEEEEEEEEXT!!![/QUOTE

And I dont buy any of that! Sounds like typical "keep things vague as possible until release and the SURPRISE"-type of usual MK stuff.

Sounds to me like scorpion is STILL as clueless as ever. Sounds like he doesn't realize that its a new sub-zero behind the mask. If thats all you have to go off of then I wouldn't try to sound so confident. Granted it is your favorite argument and would be an interesting outcome. When i first saw Noob kicked into the soulnado waaaaay back in april of 2011 the first though that came to mind, even way back then was, "scorpion and sub-zero have just switched stories (MKD), with sub-zero now the potential champion of the elder gods if the new timeline allows for it.". That would be the hope to some small degree and by doing that maybe they give back sub some of the dignity he was stripped of all through MK9's marketing and story.

That being said, Boon himself has already expressed that this is a "new Sub". The only way, ONLY WAY, that Bi or Liang could be included in the game is either by different variations representing different sub-zeros, oooooooor...by different costumes representing them. Thats it!

So far it sounds like the voice cast from MK9 are reprising their respective roles, but Sub has a new voice actor.....* gasp!* hmmmmm......Yup! Sounds like a new subzero to me, with scorpion being just as "in the dark" and clueless as ever.

Why would scorpion still not know who is who? Simple! It allows for him to take on the role of a protagonist. so to speak and fuel his quest against Quanchi, while simultaneously searching for the truth!

It would be cool if Bi came back as a resurrected Sub-zero, but I don't see that happening. Now as I stated befor NNNNEEEEEXXXXXXXT!

Sorry, but in a game where we only had two Sub-Zeros and both were brothers, if a Sub-Zero says things about his brother, specially when dead characters are coming back, the major thought is for Bi-Han/Kuai Liang, and not brother as "other Lin Kuei".

That's the same thing as Kotal Kahn. The guy is called Kotal KAHN, there was no way he wasn't connected to Outworld/Shao Kahn in some kind of way.

Re: [SPOILER, RUMOR] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX is...

Hi im new to this website. Ive played mortal kombat since the first iteration so i am a really big fan and familiar with the whole story. As far as sub zero in MKX, I can only vouch for it being Bi-han in the game and I rather it be Bi-han than Kuai Liang, as Kuai Liang is overdone.

I rather see Netherealm explore new avenues/ventures for Bi-han as Sub Zero as I have waited a long to see Bi-han return to see his original garb. Further more I have come across this clip on youtube which has an intro dialogue between quan chi/subzero and raiden/subzero.

Mortal Kombat X Audio Leaked Quan Chi and Sub Zer…: http://youtu.be/2RRVN5XTq8A

I believe this intro dialogue which has long since been rumoured regarding sub zero questioning raiden as earth realms protector and quan chi taunting him regarding his brother to which subz replies: "I am not my brother!"

More or less I think this is Bi-han bar none.

Re: [SPOILER, RUMOR] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX is...

I don't really trust IMDB, since it can be edited, but I DO agree with you and think that it's 1 of the brothers.

Usually I don't trust IMDB any more than I can throw it (which, it being a webpage on the internet, isn't far). At first glance, this list seemed to be very legit, which is why I posted it... but on closer inspection I'm no longer sure that it is. Karen Strassman (Kitana) hasn't been confirmed for MKX, neither have Ken Lally (Goro/Shinnok) or Dana Lyn Baron (Sonya/listed for Cassie), as far as I've been able to find. Only Patrick Seitz, Richard Epcar, and Michael McConnohie are confirmed returning.

So there goes my evidence for Kuai Liang being in the game, but at the same time there goes sub-one's evidence that "all the other cast members are returning and he isn't."

precisely!! it is a deflection tactic being used by NRS to throw you off the scent! if some one says to (a) sub-zero "blah, blah,blah..brother" the natural inclination is to Han and Liang, not a completely new subzero! all im saying is you're playing right into their hand by assuming that its the old subzero(s). The sub-zero in MKX doesn't sound anything like either Subzero in MK9. thats whats fueling my statement

You're just as much playing into their hand if you're only saying that this can only be a new Sub-Zero, as you have been.
The Sub-Zero in this game DOES sound like Bi-Han, to me, which is what's fueling my statement.
That doesn't matter, though, because apparently the only right opinion here is yours, as if there is a right and wrong to opinions.

Hahaha but look how this is funny! This interpretation can be used too to the sea of Sub-Zeros thing! He could have said that too to throw us off, don't you think? That's what I think!

How does the new sub-zero sound even remotely like Bi-han in MK9? If anything he sounds ever so slightly like Kuai Liang, but even then its only because of the characterization of the voice actor. Sorry Brohammer, I think we have us a New sub-zero.

Re: [SPOILER, RUMOR] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX is...

Actually, if you look at the Mythologies cutscenes, MK1 starts almost immediately right after. Quan Chi leaves, and Sektor's dad (the grandmaster) says that there is another sorcerer that requires the services of the Lin Kuei. This is when Shang Tsung appears, etc.

I'm assuming that in this clip, it is also the fake amulet...

Re: [SPOILER, RUMOR] Sub-Zero's identity in MKX is...

Ohhhh! Now I get it!
Sub-Zero who we've seen in the game is Bi-Han.
His alternate is Kuai Liang (with Jim Miller's voice) the alternate is also that one from the first issue of the comic and that one from the picture where Ermac is doing a fatality.
That's my desicion.

Exactly!
Sea of Sub-Zeros is just another way of Ed Boon evading the question.
Nothing more.
I think people are just getting nervous and getting very upset if Bi-Han in Sub-Zero again, and Noob Saibot isn't in this game.
It's not looking good for Noob Saibot.
