[SPOILER] Everything about story mode. Pics, videos, discussion, etc.

Now that Kotal Kahn is the ruler of Outworld, I wonder what he'll do about the Tarkatans. Will they live as commoners? Or will he oppress them and make them pay for the rebellion?

I really hope we get a new Tarkatan for MK11. A female that honors the fallen empress by using sais, but still has arm blades like Baraka.

I don't think the Tarkatans are capable of living as commonfolk. They were created with a specific purpose - to kill.

I'd love to see a true female Tarkatan character as well. Always thought it would be cool if there was a female Tarkatan with blades coming from her fingers like Lady Deathstrike from the second X-Men movie (not like in the comics where they look more like long, crooked fingers).

I got similar impressions as yours. It had no right to work properly - including 25 years in 2 hours. No way. Too many plot holes. Even though we have the comics as the support.

- we've already been discussing Kitana and Liu Kang (and Kung Lao) situation before and for many it was like: ok NRS, you wanted so much to put them in the game, so make their canon skins their defaults. Didn't happen. Lack of cojones.

- the Sareena scene was kinda weird, but on the other hand it's good they don't forget about her

- Fujin - they shouldn't have removed the unseen scenes with Fujin, would have made more sense, but it seems too much sense is not good for them

- you only learn something about Ferra and Torr only in their bio, the same thing is with Erron; quite lame

- Fatality input for Baraka was actually her normal Fatality in gameplay, but killing Mileena was more important and more effective. I think that's the case

- Bi Han mentioned by Sareena - events of Mythologies, we don't hear a word about his current whereabouts; probably Soulnado destroyed him

- killing Sektor and taking Lin Kuei would be a great part of Sub-Zero's chapter, but instead he was sparring with the kids, and we only see Sektor's head and arm; quite lame, but not everything can be included in story, that's why 25 years in 2 hours do not work, maybe we'll learn something more from the comic

- no mention of Cyrax, but I assume he was also killed by Sub-Zero, since hadn't a chance to restore his soul and humanity like in original timeline

- it's very probable that there are no cyborgs left; maybe NRS will restore Sektor or Cyrax or introduce the new one; for now I don't see Smoke being a cyborg again, since he's a revenant

- killing the MK cyborgs off in favour of Predator would be stupid and I don't think it's that way; just the coincidence that the outome of the story was no MK cyborgs and putting in the game a guest like Predator

- as for Kano, he could be imprisoned by SF, but i wouldn't be surprised if he somehow escaped again

- it seems Quan Chi is stone dead forever, but I'm pretty sure that if NRS wants him back, they'll figure something out to bring him back

- it was weird because Quan Chi seemed to pretend to be Shinnok's servant and work for his own, at least in original timeline; maybe he thought he would be killed anyway so in the last moment he managed to release Shinnok from the amulet to make a big mess

- Kitana and Liu can put Shinnok's head next to their thrones in Netherrealm and sometimes talk to him about evanescence when they get bored

- Raiden could be the big bad in the next game, as well as Liu and Kitana, or maybe someone else, there are almost countless possibilities; the boss indeed WAS a surprise returning character - the modified boss from MKM:SZ

- I think Sub-Zero will handle Frost like in the original timleline, which is freeze her into eternal ice sleep; unless NRS will come up with something different about her

- it was a shame that Bo' Rai Cho's appearence was short-lived, but at least he showed up; I hope he's not dead and we will see him in the future as the playable character, same goes with Fujin (maybe DLC?)

- Goro is technically sumkinda DLC, but I thought he would show up somehow during the story; at least we saw him in the comic, and the DLC is still better than nothing

- I believe Rain and Tanya's last appearance during the story was in D'Vorah's chapter; probably they escaped after being defeated and I hope we will see them again as playable characters (at least Tanya is DLC, still better than nothing)

- I think Shang Tsung is dead and his essence is still in Sindel, unless Quan Chi did something with his soul; I'm pretty sure he could return somehow; also, most of the intro dialogues are not canon

MK2011 story mode had much less plot holes than in MKX, I think it's because these miserable 25 years in 2 hours. Undoubtfully MKX Story Mode could've been better, but IMO it's not THAT bad.

Tarkatans weren't created in this timeline. Baraka says himself that Shao Kahn conquered his realm before he fights D'Vorah. They were victims just like everyone else.

Damned retcons. Anyway, I think Kotal can handle with them and make them work for him.

This was probably answered, but...

-Why are Kitana and Liu Kang playable if they remained revenants and turned actually into rulers of the Netherrealm, ie potential boss material? Please don't tell me it's just for the sake of sales and pleasing old fans. That would be pathetic.

That's the only thing I really disliked. Yes, just for sales. But why not keep both as revenants instead of presenting us a scam false old Liu Kang?

-What's up with Sareena? She just appears out of nowhere. Half of the people have no clue who she is and all they come up with is one sentence to explain her origin. Then she disappears again god knows where.

She was an informer. They treated her as they already know her for some time. Makes no difference, we all know who she is.

-What's up with Fujin. Similar case. He just shows up at the beginning, cool, and then bam... gone. Sure, he's more known, but where does he go? And why? Just doesn't make any sense. Even less sense after learning he was supposed to be in more scenes, but they cut him back. Then why put him in in the first place if all he is going to do, being quite important, is have a few lines? Why even bother making a new costume for literally just 5% of the story?

I agree, Fujin should have been at the least with Raiden. Of course he was doing something else.

-Why no background on Ferra/Torr? Are they supposed to look mysterious? Dumb? Or both?

Check their ending.

-Why show a Fatality code input for killing Baraka, but no input for Mileena? Same character. Again a small wtf for me.

Probably because they did want something different from her standard fatalities.

-Bi-Han mentioned by Sareena, yet no explanation?

Probably mention to MKM:SZ.

-Sub-Zero killed Sektor. M'kay. Why not show it? Or even better why not include it and let us fight Sektor? All they show is remaining circuits. An iconic character is ridden of, yet all they do is this. Kind of insulting. Easy way out.

-What happened to Cyrax? Sub-Zero killed him too? Cyrax is even less important so they not bother to mention him at all?

-With these two dead, are there any cyborgs left? MK without cyborgs not MK. Maybe Smoke in MK11?

Sub-Zero's chapter was used as mentor, not to tell Lin Kuei's story. He only said that so he could help Hanzo. With that formation, unfortunately, we could never see him defeat Sektor.

-Did they kill them off on purpose just to leave more space for Predator? If yes, they must've decided on DLC a long time ago.

I don't think we have enough evidence.

-What's up with Kano? Never got back to him. So he's alive in prison? Or did Sonya in the end anyway decided to kill him?

IMO it was obvious Sonya arrested him.

-Is Quan-Chi dead for good or not?

As it seems, yes. Of course not forever.

-What was the spell he was casting? Did he want to trap himself inside the amulet? Or was that a spell to release Shinnok?

No, that spell was the spell to release Shinnok. There was no reason for him to be trapped there...not even escaping Hanzo. He was Shinnok's only hope. When he saw he would die anyway, he at the least completed his job.

-Shinnok is sorta dead. What will happen to him now? Kitana and Liu will play ball with him?

Nor dead or alive. After his best role since forever, maybe he will be a trophy. Anyway, that was a warning.

-Raiden turned Dark. OK. So he's the big bad of MK11 then? Cause when Boon said "surprise returning character" we all expected someone else than Shinnok. No surprises it seems.

We have no evidence to say it.

-What happened with Frost? Did Sub-Zero kill her? Bury her? Teach her?

We don't know. But knowing Sub-Zero, he didn't kill her.

-What happened to Bo Rai Cho? Same as Fujin... 5% and disappears.

Good question.

-Why no Goro?

Because Kotal.

- What happened to Rain and Tanya?

Lost the rebellion. They were a coup inside the rebellion, there was no space for their schemes.

-Is Shang Tsung somewhere? If not, why do some of the character intros mention him? What happened to him anyway?

Many endings point not only to his resurrection, but give him new ambient for a return.

Female Tarkatan makes my penis sad.

I'd rather they just bring Mileena back. If you want armblades, then maybe this could be Shang Tsung's failed prototype that was too Tarkatan for his liking. Maybe she was too servile/loyal, whereas Tsung specifically wanted someone with a reckless, self-imposing streak.

They used to
you've made this point several time about the females attire. just curious , do you not think the females have sexy attire in MKX. kitana ,DVorah and Milena both have very revealing outfits. cassie's outfit is very form fitting and Jacqui has cleavage for days. Is it that you want the toilet paper outfit mileena had?

Well, luckily NRS doesn't base their character designs on what makes your penis happy.

That's true. I'll rephrase.

I think that making your playable characters look straight-up, unabashedly repulsive is a poor design decision, and will invariably doom the character to being a mook for all eternity -- or a face retcon if they should become too big a deal to ignore. I'd rather get around all possible permutations of these problems by making characters not hideous to begin with.

Edit, nevermind. Don't want to go down this road again lol

No no, it's alright, I'm aware that there are guys who enjoy looking at tits and asses while playing a game. Some even enjoy how the MK9 girls were dressed because of that exact reason.

I am just personally glad that NRS thought more about making good designs this time around rather than pornofy the female characters.

And I also don't think EVERY single female character should be all about looking hot. Cool, monstrous, ugly female characters would be cool to see as well, just like there's cool, monstrous, ugly looking male characters.

The only truly hideous playable male character is Reptile, and look at how much vocal dislike his face has received compared to others - a TON. Compare with Goro, who is monstrous, but he still has very recognizably masculine features. He's not repulsive to look at in the same way that Reptile is, or MK9 Mileena was.

I think that MKX has the formula down this time - Mileena is deformed, but still recognizably a woman. Same with D'Vorah. The females' faces aren't cookie-cutter, some people think Kitana is the most beautiful female in the game, some think Jacqui is, some think Sindel is. No homogenized hotness, but yes appealing character designs.

I think it's sad. I love that Reptile looks like a lizardman without looking absolutely ridiculous like in MKDA. I think Baraka looks the coolest he's ever done in MKX. And I would have loved if D'Vorah looked more monstrous, instead of basically just a yellow woman.

I guess that's why I also love Killer Instinct so much, because that game has a very diverse roster (though quite stereotypical, but it works). The developers of KI dare step away from the common humanoid look and do something else with their characters. I wish NRS dared taking such steps as well. They have the lore, they have the realms, and every reason to come up with some cool monstrous looking characters.

Killer Instinct can get away with that because they're not in any danger of getting a Hollywood blockbuster franchise spawned out of their characters. They don't need to worry about things like "Well if we make a TV series about Mortal Kombat, who in their right mind will ever want to play Mileena, and not have their face appear on screen, either because they're wearing an uncomfortable mask or because it's been CGI'd out which will cost us tons of money?"

This is a very legitimate concern for NRS to have because not 6 years ago they were still the laughing stock of gaming. They have to be very careful about how they market their iconic characters, or market their brand by inventing new ones.

Alot of movies today have CGI characters that looks non-human and which are Hollywood blockbusters... so I don't see that as a valid reason.

You don't see why a talented actress might not want to play a character who has no face?

When most of that character's screentime is already spent doing acrobatics?
