SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Saw the preview and I am really looking forward to this:

Spoiler:
Takeda's ignorance about Hellfire and teaching him it LMAO!
Raiden showing his "Power"

That would be kinda lame if they retcon Sub-Zero killing Scorpion initially.

I agree completely. That would mean that Scorpion has nothing to do with Sub-Zero and that would suck so hard.

Oh wait, Hanzo killed Bi-Han, right.

But wasn't it awesome when in original timeline Hanzo AVENGED HIS OWN DEATH?!

Unless Quan Chi went to that shaolin temple, pick up Hanzo's head, put it in his knapsack or something, went and murdered his family and clan, then pulled out Scorp's head and showed him his dead family, or maybe it was just a retcon...

Takashi takeda is a cyborg in the game! That's why he's got all that armor. Raiden messed that pour kid up. Kenshi is going to be pissed and join Kung Lao and lu kang to bash Raidens skull in. I bet you Raiden already killed fujin so count that dude out.

We saw a Takeda in the story trailer who's a bit older than the one here, and he definitely doesn't look like a cyborg.

Yes, exactly. It was a very well-written anti-hero story for Scorpion and path to darkness story for Sub-Zero(Bi-Han). Scorpion avenged his own death, and also thought he avenged the death of his family. Sub-Zero was driven to becoming even more of a ghostly shadow of his former self than Scorpion as a result of Scorpion's quest for vengeance. If Sub-Zero had absolutely nothing to do with Scorpion's peril, all of that is trashed.

I also prefered the original with Sub Zero killing Scorpion. It deals with choices, justice. With a Sub Zero innocent, I don't feel that ambient of questioning the fact he didn't deserve death for something he didn't know.

Let's see. It would sound weird but maybe Bi-Han killed him and Quan Chi quickly did all of that. But it's not lookinh like this.

Wait, how come it shows his family being frozen to death here but in MK9, his family was supposedly killed by Sub-Zero's sword?

Can't deny I disliked that too.

And more than that, on MK9, Scorpion was surprised with the scenes he has seen.

It's like until MK9 they were following Mythologies storyline, which explains why Scorpion didn't know what happened to his family and Quan Chi told him.

Now it seems they changed...

I don't think it's a retcon. It could be Scorpion having false memories put in his head from Quan Chi. It looks like the events of Sub-Zero Mythologies is likely changed now given how Quan Chi has his MKDA design and Mythologies takes place two years before MK1.

It might be the comics guy being given more free reign than expected. Someone gave him the vague layout that Scorpion lost his family and got killed by Sub-Zero, and he didn't know or care about the specific details, so he had this cool idea of Sub-Zero showing Scorpion his frozen family and went with it.
As a franchise, Mortal Kombat is notoriously relaxed with this kind of stuff.

I didn't think about Scorpion's false memories caused by Quan Chi. It would be the only explanation and I hope that's what it is. But apparently it is not. Which sucks.

Scorpion was already given those false memories in MK9, and they are nothing like what happened in that comic preview.

Even if it was a false vision in that comic preview, the writer reconnected it so that in the false vision Sub-Zero killed his family and had them in a block of ice, when in actuality Quan Chi fed Scorpion the false vision with Sub-Zero killing them with a sword.
If they completely retconned it though, so that Sub-Zero actually DID kill his family, then the comic writers just f***ed up the history behind 2 of the most iconic characters in MK.

I believe in MK2011 Quan Chi showed Scorpion the real events of what's happened, but it was Quan Chi himself disguised as Sub-Zero, which Scorpion didn't know and thought it was Bi-Han. But why he would suppose to show him these false memories in the comic? And did he erase the "right" ones only to replace them with the comic ones? It doesn't make any sense anyway. The author f***ed up. But why Boon let this happen?

Going by Scorpion's vs intro with Quan Chi, it seems like Quan Chi is the real killer. I guess the comic wants to avoid spoilers since the twist of Quan Chi being the real killer of Scorpion's clan can be view as a major spoiler. Long time fans know Quan Chi is the real killer but the new fans of the series may not know that.

Because visually it looks more badass and gets people talking. Kittleston does seem like he knows the MK lore well enough, but it does seem like he cuts corners here and there to make the story more poetic/visually interesting.
