SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Yeah I pointed it out a few pages back. The weird thing is the mask. The character selection portrait makes it look like he isn't wearing one, but everyone pointed to the similarity with the off-color comic picture as proof that he's wearing a mask that we can't see because of the blur. Well now we've got another pic of him, and instead of providing answers, it only raises more questions.

Does he have a mask? It looks like there isn't one.

If there's no mask, why is his face a different shade of green?

Maybe the colors in the new pic are wrong (and he does have a mask); the colors on Erron Black's costume in the same pic are definitely wrong.

If there is a mask, do the colors tell us anything? The mask in the original pic is the same color as the (leather?) straps, but the mask doesn't appear to be leather at all. Furthermore, a beige mask, like the beige straps in the pic, would look weird.

I'm gonna have to go with "neither of the pics tell us anything" for now, and hope we get this cleared up soon.

I do think he's wearing a mask in the character select portrait. But yeah, he looks really weird in this second panel. Maybe he does have a mask there.

Another possibility is that maybe his costume wasn't final by the time the artist drew chapter 3. Some people have pointed out that Erron Black's costume is different here, and I think D'Vorah's is a bit different as well.

The artist is good, look at the Shao Kahn's drawings. Look perfect.

But when it comes to distances, he prefer giving less detail, it's his art, his way of drawing. Personally, I don't like the distance drawings

And Reptile is exactly on the blur field. Notice thar Erron is visible, but it's already in some blur.

How exactly is Mileena suppose to restore the Shokan to their former glory?

What's stopping him from killing her and just taking the throne himself?

Sorry to say, but Goro is dumb. He has become one of the dumbest guys on MK lore because of things like that.

JUST RIP OFF HER ARMS ELDERGODDAMMIT!

Killing Mileena would just turn the Tarkatans against the Shokan. Being enemies with both the Centaurs and the Tarkatans at the same time sounds like a terrible idea.

Com'on now. He's not that bad.
He had a good thing going til they messed it all up in Deception.

I have faith NRS will do him some good before he gets killed. There's no way he's going to die during his fight with Kotal Kahn. And even if he does, he'll come back somehow. The trailer said "Goro Lives". lol

Yeah, you are right. Specially for the fact that Shokans look strong like that and are still oppressed. He would have Kotal's forces, Tarkatans, Centaurs and who knows if the Red Dragon would not kill him too.

Yeah, his Deception eding that messed everything, he was better with Kitana!

Deception was Goro's highlight for me.

Noob Saibot mortally wounds Goro on the battlefield, a maskless Shao Kahn uses the last of his power to save his life, together they go into hiding and prepare to flip Outworld on it's head?

Dude it's like the world's greatest buddy cop movie

I'm guessing the whole "Shokan uprising" led by Kintaro is going to be there attempt at taking the throne.

It probably won't end very well.

 When you put it that way, it is kinda badass.

I don't see what was dumb about Goro? That character never wanted to rule a realm, that's not a dumb thing, most characters in Mortal Kombat don't want to rule a realm. Goro is a warrior who lives for battle and wants to bring glory to the Shokan race. He also lives in Outworld.

Kotal Kahn hasn't offered him anything for his service, and it's unlikely he'd favor Goro over anyone else - he might even dislike Goro for participating in the invasion of Kotal's realm back in the day. Kotal already has his favored servants like D'Vorah and Erron Black, and he's also trying diplomacy with Earthrealm. He doesn't offer Goro much in the ways of battle glory and Shokan prominence.

On the other hand Mileena went straight to him and offered Goro opportunity for battle and conquest, rewards for his Shokan race, and a place as her champion.

It made perfect sense for Goro to side with Mileena. He was always a guy who liked war and having a top position, and he was never a guy who wanted to rule Outworld himself.
It would also be completely against character for him to be afraid of Kotal Kahn or anything like that.

I was saying he became dumb because he is always portrayed weaker than he is.

If he wants to maintain the existence of Shokan race, better change behavior.

And considering the two sides, it was obvious for him siding with Mileena. But always a "follower".

I can't see any of that, it's just my opinion. Goro never really wanted to be Emperor of Outworld, he's not dumbed down for continuing being what he always was, a warrior figure and clan champion.
People have different interpretations, but to me, Goro wouldn't want to sit in a throne, give orders to civilians, manage an empire and have a crown. He was always a guy who lived to fight, and all he wanted was to be considered the best at fighting. That's what Shao Kahn gave him, he made him his champion, a famous warrior regularly given worthy opponents.

Kotal ignored Goro and went on with his business. Millena went to Goro as an equal, called him Prince, and asked of him what a warrior would consider the most glorious task, killing a great fighter like Kotal Kahn in Mortal Kombat and becoming the champion.

For me, it makes perfect sense. As for preserving the Shokan, they are a warrior race, it would be ridiculous for them to give in to fearing for their existence, and sit in their villages trying not to piss anyone off while Kotal manages the crops.

Is anyone else concerned that with details of the Kotal/Mileena power-struggle starting to come out, we're starting to get into serious spoiler territory for MKX? Who is leader of Outworld at precisely what time period in the game, that sort of stuff. This is actual plot that's being teased/hinted at/revealed.

That's quite different from Scorpion/Takeda, Kano/Sub-Zero, Raiden/Fujin, Cassie getting kidnapped...

Yes, we are now starting to get the MKX experience.

The other stories are to explain what's going on with the characters, how they will face the big problem of MKX.

Yet the "demon" thing is still a mystery. I don't know what are the limits for that. I don't even imagine if there are limits.

They do jump around a lot, like they did with the Kano vs Sub-Zero plot that was abandoned for a bunch of issues. We are getting some juicy chapters on the Outworld civil war, but they might jump away from that story soon and get back to the lesser stuff.
The Goro attacks and Red Dragon plan may just be two incidents in a decade long war, leaving plenty for the game to cover.
