SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

I'm not a fan of Goro going from honorable warrior in the original timeline to egotistical ponce in this alternate one. Bad characterization.

Conversely, Reiko is now awesome. He was always boring as shit, but they finally made him compelling by making him a competent military tactician, something we haven't seen before in Mortal Kombat. So in addition to an interesting backstory, he now has a unique identity/personality to build on. All he needs now is a shiny new moveset and costume and I'd welcome his presence in MKX with open arms.

Unfortunately, with Reiko being the brains, this means Mileena is still the stupid child from MK9. Fifteen years of life experience seems to have been for naught. How disappointing. It seems Deception Mileena will always be best Mileena.

Cyber Lin Kuei, huh? Suppose that means Sektor is still in command 15 years after MK9, or Bi-Han took over and kept his minions as robots (I don't see Kuai Liang keeping them cyber).

off topic

do you think that nrs keep an eye on the fans reaction on the comic and characters and know that this character is now very popular for example reiko?

This artist at the least draw better than last issue. Man, last issue while you had a very well drawn Shao Kahn, when it comes to distance, the guy just doesn't draw, he puts some paint and pretend that who is in the background is there.

That guy draws well everything that it's close to the camera, what is not, he just says "meh, won't draw it at all".

Most likely the technology was stolen from the cyber lin kuei

I still think the new artists makes the comic look like a cheap gas station book. Previous one had a much better style imo.

To be fair with Goro, I think his motives are quite coherent with his character and his "treason" needs to be put in contest.

-- About the motives, under Shao Kahn he was always treated very well, we see them side by side in multiple battles (as a previous poster showed, this goes way back to past games) and he was the one chosen as Mortal Kombat champion to represent Outworld. That was the position he was used to and the position he wanted. Apparently he didn't oppose Kotal Kahn taking over while he had no reason to, but when he saw under Kotal he wouldn't be the top enforcer he used to be, he became unhappy with the situation. When Mileena and Reiko came to him as a Prince of Shokan he decided to fight with them instead. I see no problem with this.

-- About the treason, it's important to note he didn't backstab anyone. Goro agreed to Mileena that he'd kill Kotal, and he meant in a fair battle. When Kotal's forces came to be ambushed, that tactic was Reiko's doing, Goro doesn't care about that stuff he just wants glorious battle. Goro walked up to them, said he was going to kill them, and fought Kotal's father in a perfectly fair fight - remember Kotal's father was a conqueror who ate the hearts of his enemies, not a naive school boy. All he is guilty of is not sending Kotal an email rescinding his contract or wathever, but we never see him lie to anyone or come up with devious plots.

The first artist is the best artist without a doubt.

I understand and agree with you.

But that would happen anyway. Goro does not want only to have his Shokan race in good position.

He wants to konquer, smash people.

Look at Kotal's perspective. He sent Goro, a general warrior, to hunt the most dangerous individuals on Outworld right now. Goro is the guy who spen 500 years in a rat hole called Goro's Lair. I don't know what he is complaining.

Well, I know, to tell you the truth. It's the same thing he did on MK:D. He gets a peaceful position. Then comes someone who says "hey, join me and we will start knoquering the world and slaughtering many innocent and non innocent guys".

He goes there and join.

That's what happened. He was sent as a trusted warrior, but he knew that killing Mileena and Reiko meant nothing. He wants someone who will ensure his Shokan race (Kotal surely did), but wants someone to be partner on genocide.

Goro is as murderer as Shao Kahn, and now Kotal Kahn will teach him a lesson for what he has done.

As a die-hard Mavado fan, i'm really happy to see him in this comic... even if he is poorly drawn !!
It's sad to know he won't be in the game (i suppose he will be killed very soon).

I also really appreciate the fact that Reiko and Mileena are hiding in the Golden Desert, which was one of my favorite stages in MKD ! This comic is great because everything is so "MK" ! The writer got a good knowledge of the franchise, and this is GREAT ! I jus hope this comic will live very long, even after 14th of april !!

Finally to read Chapter #7 and WOW!!!!!!

Im sure most have seen the issue by now, but incase you havent inside the Spoiler Tags, I gave a run down for what was going on. It doesnt do it actual justice, so read it if you can!

Spoiler:
I've always like Reiko but damn I've never liked him as much as I do NOW. he is definitely a "Genius without Scruples" Remembering an ability and able to use that against Kotals Warriors! Amazing! Its not like we've never seen that before but to have Reiko have that kind of intelligents, all i can hope for at this moment is that he will be in the game!

For a moment i wasn't exactly expecting Goro to be the Traitor, I thought Reptile would be the one. Saw him in the panel and figured he'd just leave K'etz to his fate without help.

The mention of Rain as her Faithful Servant was a nice announcement! Wonder whats in store for him?

I dont care how tough you think you are. or if honor wont allow you to leave. If your opponent takes a hit to the face full force with a Hammer, Shao Kahns Wraith Hammer at that, and they get up and say, thats all you got. You might want to retreat, regroup and come up with a different plan...just saying...

Not a Big fan of the Red Dragon or Mavado at that, but it was interesting to hear that they wouldn't interfere with Goro & K'etz fight, Also that they acquired a Cloaking Tech from the Lin Kuei. So I cant help but wonder, do they also have an arrangement with the Lin Kuei and Mileena or did they steal it?

Reptile reports to Kotal Kahn about his Fathers defeat and letting him know, Goro was the Traitor. Kotal then apparently invokes the Blood God Rite and might possibly have released the Blood Demon who was mentioned in earlier issue?

Great issue, I love Kotal Kahn, but to me I think Reiko, even though he was limited in the issue, stole the spotlight in this on. I really hope this is an indicator that he will be a playable character for the game. The Story is slowly being reveal, or at least we have an idea of what is going to happen.

...is it next sunday already, I cant wait!

Also, anyone else think the panels of Kotal and Reiko fighting together back when they served Shao Kahn were absolute badass? They had a bromance going on. These two are cool as hell wether they work together or against each other!

Yeah, I liked that too. I can imagine the Han and Luke style bickering that went on between them when they were on missions.

Yeah, I'm not sure how I feel about Goro betraying Kotal yet. I just don't get why he would, Kotal is definitely more honorable than Mileena and Reiko. What I DO want to see is Kintaro siding with Kotal, and for us to get a Goro vs. Kintaro showdown. Oh my God...

I don't think that Reiko is entirely the brains here. I think Mileena is just playing dumb and she's got something else up her sleeves (veil?).

I hope this blood magic doesn't turn Kotal into a maniacal villain. It's really awesome to have a more neutral Outworld leader for once. I hope they don't mess this up.

Are we all going to ignore how much that creature they fought in the cave looked like a Xenomorph from Alien?? It's a stretch, but I'm really hoping for the guests to be Alien and Predator.

I predict that the Rieko we are seeing in the Comic book is really Shao Kahn.

Shao Kahn forced Rieko to fight Raiden in his place while he recovered from his wounds

Impossible. If he was Shao Kahn he'd have no reason to do what Reiko is doing, he'd have jumped straight back to the throne when he returned.

1) Shao Kahn has no reason to fear opposition from Kotal or Mileena. Kotal was one of his warriors for decades and only took the throne after Mileena screwed it up after being there 5 years. Also, don't forget his first defeat in MK9 story, he walked straight into the throne room when everyone was talking about who would replace him when they thought he had died, like Mileena, and yet they all backed the f*** up right away even though Shao Kahn had been near death.
2) Even though Shao Kahn can be cunning (like when he poisoned Onaga) his style is to dominate situations with overwhelming agression and brutality. He wouldn't hide in the desert, he'd charge straight into the capital.
3) He'd never, ever, kneel before Mileena and be dismissed by her.
4) He wouldn't have to talk Goro into joining his side, all he would have to do is say he was Shao Kahn.
5) Kotal said he served alongside Reiko under Shao Kahn for decades, we even see flashback images of this. Clearly Reiko existed long before the events of MK1, let alone when the Elder Gods took Shao Kahn.
6) Reiko is noticeably shorter than Shao Kahn.

etc. etc.

Those two monsters in the comics that we see Reiko and Kotal fighting looks nothing like a Xenomorph and Predator. I don't see it at all.
