SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Kotal coming to Earthrrealm, teaching stuff to the Aztecs and becoming their leader?

I called that days ago! Well I said god not leader but close enough lol

Kotal Kahn is an outworlder. Yet, he has a lot of Earthrealm on him.

Here, he saw an important civilization, learned and taught them.

Also, he saw the evil of the man, not only among his people, but of the "gods" of the Old World.

Nobody is better for Outworld.

And Goro must have his butt kicked. He helped killing Kotal's people.

It seems like they've given Goro's old honorable personality/storyline to Kotal, with Goro remaining an evil brute in this timeline.

Here's the summary, thanks to a user on GFaqs:

Spoiler:
Kotal is from the realm Osh-Tekk where the people were very strong under Kotal's father. However, one day Shao Kahn and Goro showed up and Kotal's father handed over his rule to them (not sure if merged though). So, Kotal was sent to Earthrealm where he found the Aztecs and wanted to protect them against the conquistadors. He did and they worshipped him as a god. However, upon returning to Outworld, his father was disapponted with him and told him he would never be emperor so Kotal left and found the Aztecs all dead by disease. Flash to the present, Kotal is seen at an Outworld rally with D'Vorah, Erron, and Reptile where the people are chanting his name as he says he will eradicate all of Mileena's forces. Flash to Mileena's group in some desert where Reiko tells her that the Red Dragon have agreed to an unspecified plan. Mileena then offers Goro the chance to be the one to kill Kotal Kahn.

Just read it on iBooks. Guess I'll give the full summary!

Spoiler:
Ages ago, Kotal Kahn's people resided in their realm of Osh-Tekk; thanks to the leadership of Kotal's father, Kotal K'Etz, Kotal's race crushed all of their enemies and lorded over Osh-Tekk... until Shao Kahn arrived. He and Goro slaughtered the denizens of Osh-Tekk, with Kotal K'Etz ultimately swearing fealty to Shao. Shao allows Kotal's race to keep their portal stone as a reward for their obedience, and a young Kotal expresses his outrage at his father's surrender; however, Kotal is surprised when K'Etz tells him that he can take over as leader of their people if he can fulfill their ancient rite of "realmwalk" and survive the dangerous lands of Earthrealm.

Kotal ends up taking his father's challenge, travelling through deserts and snowy mountains in Earthrealm, until he arrives at the Amazon jungle. The Mayans' civilization reminds Kotal of his own home, and while the Mayans fear him at first, they begin to worship him after he brutally kills some invading conquistadors. Kotal then begins to consider that his destiny is to not conquer these people, but to save them: Kotal stays with the Mayans, helping them repel further attacks by the Spanish as his own powers grow (he obliterates a ship by summoning a giant death beam from the sky!) The Mayans begin taking after the maturing Kotal as they devour the hearts of their enemies, and name him Buluc the war god.

As the Mayans begin running out of enemies to fight, however, Kotal begins to long for home and decides that it's time to return. Using the portal stone, Kotal returns to Osh-Tekk to find his father, not proud, but disappointed. K'Etz chastises Kotal for dooming the Mayans with his actions and demands that he give him back the portal stone, only for Kotal to slam him against a wall in a fit of fury. Deciding that he doesn't need his father's crown, Kotal returns to Earthrealm... but doesn't find what he was expecting. After all of those years of eating foreigners' hearts, the Mayans have contracted all kinds of diseases from their blood and are now dying, as a horrified Kotal can do nothing but watch.

In present day Outworld, at the city of Z'Unkahrah, Kotal finishes telling this story to a crowd of onlookers that includes Erron Black, D'Vorah, Reptile, and two other members of Kotal's race. Kotal talks of how he deposed Mileena from the throne of Outworld and drove her underground a decade ago, with her threat to his empire now extremely small. However, as Kotal learned so many years ago, even the mightiest warriors can be defeated by the smallest threats: therefore, he vows to eradicate Mileena and every last one of her supporters, along with all other opposition to the Outworld empire, no matter how great or small! To this, the people of Z'Unkahrah chant Kotal Kahn's name!

Somewhere in the Golden Desert, Reiko informs Mileena that the Red Dragon have agreed to their plan. A pleased Mileena dismisses Reiko, and then asks someone else in the room if he will agree to help her take down Kotal. That someone else is Goro, who agrees to finish Kotal Kahn in exchange for the restoration of the Shokans' glory!

Wow Kotal is amazing as a character... And he is a nice guy for a change.

Does it say in the comic the name of his race?

BTW I'm glad Reiko is doing something, I loved him in MK4, hope he makes it in with a revamped MK4 outfit (I hate the shirtless post MK4 outfits)

No, it doesn't. Osh-Tekkians is probably as good as it's going to get.

Spoiler:
I think Kotal's fallen ally is going to be one of those two other members of his race. They're right at the front along with Kotal's other allies and very much stand out in the sea of generics, and the death of one of them seems like ample rage fodder for Kotal...

Wow, the backstory for Kotal is depressing.

Annnnnd he has blue skin. I like this guy.

Interesting outfit for Mileena may I add.

I hope you're right, but it feels like wishful thinking. One more week for the fate of Erron Black!

And lol at Osh-Tekk. Kinda lazy.

No more wishful than people proclaiming the other guy not seen in the game so far was going to be Kotal's fallen ally the moment he showed up. (and I'm not just talking about Erron--when we still didn't know who that was beside Kotal/when Reptile hadn't been confirmed yet, some of us thought he'd be the one!)

Mileena's got a neat new costume there.

Had the same idea. I feel like we don't really know much but Erron (and Wtf happened with Cassie and Jaqui)

Waaaaait...

Kotal returns to Osh-Tekk to find his father, not proud, but disappointed. K'Etz chastises Kotal for dooming the Mayans with his actions

What? So did K'Etz want Kotal to be a brutal dictator? Is that still a thing?
