Soul Calibur IV

Seriously, its so lame without it. Create-a-Character that is.... anyways I like yoda and the apprentice, even though the are kind of cheap, but so what? it's part of the game. any ways, as being more of a Star Wars fan, it was good to get some recognition... yoda has needed to be in a game like this for a long time.

Wow that's a lot of hate. I'm almost certain you can choose to have the Japanese voices if you hate the english ones so much. If this game "hurts your eyes" then I think your TV needs readjustment (or maybe your EYES need readjustment). I don't even understand where you're coming from with that it's not a complaint I've ever heard...on like, any game ever.

But I'd like to explore this "SC2 feel" a bit more. What was so different about SC2? Ok, they had soul charge (which I never used anyway) but what else made it so different? The Tower is basically the same as Weapon Master mode which still made you jump through hoops to unlock things. You say SC3/4 want you to be a drone? I don't understand what you mean. SC2 doesn't just had you shit on a silver platter, it forces you to unlock things too. Could you elaborate and get an eye exam and get back to me?

Okay, the TV doesn't do it to any other game so I know its the game. Its not the first game to do that either (I think one of the FFs did the same). The game "Throne of Darkness" for the PC also hurts my eyes for a simulair reason. These are course, are not used on the same TV (ToD is on a monitor screen).

Okay, SC2 had unlockable content but it felt a lot less of a expedition to achieve them, you didn't notice the grinding. Okay, so sc3 has more rewards, but most of them are uneeded and you might as well not bother with. I don't know, I just got into SC2 a lot quicke then SC3 which just bored me. After ten days I wasn't bored with SC2, but after one day of Sc3 I had had enough. I don't know, something had been lost between the games, its like having ten chocolate buttons on a cake one day and nine on the next, you might notice something is odd, but you won't be able to figure out what it was and it will be kicking you until you figure it out.

What I mean by drones, is that if your someone like me, determined to unlock everything in a game no matter how pointless it is, you soon get fed up with the amount of things you have to unlock. I had the same feeling for MK:Arm as I did for SC3 when it comes to unlockable content and it took me two weeks to bring myself to finish that. I feel sulky for admitting it, but I'm still unlocking SC3 content even now (mostly because I've only just picked up the game again).

Ther are some things that you just can't explain. Its not like I will only like the orginals of a game and dimiss any sequals because I also rate:

-Streets of Rage2 felt a superior beast to no.1 and no.3
-Golden Axe 3 was far better then no. 1 and no.2
-Shining Force 1 and 2 I rate as equals
-Doom 2 was better then Doom and amanged to keep the series strong.

The best way I can descripe why its no fun anymore it that it feels like a commitment then a game. I know you don't have to unlock everything, but then you can see a game in its full glory until you do. I spent more time creating characters then I did playing them. That was the same for MK:arm. A game should never be like this. And as I said, had it not been for Tira I wouldn't have played it some much.

Cronicles of the sword became fun though, I must admit, once I got the soul of Voldo. :)

Right, because Yoda and the Apprentice are ALL that matter. Not the, you know, REAL characters. The ones that were tweaked and improved drastically? Yoshimitsu? Siegfried? You know? Just because Yoda sucks doesn't mean everybody does.

I'll give you that one about the endings though. Most of them do flat out blow. SC3's were better.

Well, like I said it's my opinion as far as "the overall game" is concerned it's alright to me, better then SC3 but no where near as good as the first two.... but still as far as Yoda and Apprentice are concerned gameplay wise...they're both broken none the less(Yoda can't be thrown and is tough to hit at times) and Apprentice is broken/too powerful....

Yes, I know the ones that needed tweaking in SC3 were fixed but the same can't be said about Yoda and Apprentice, the reason why it matters is because these fighters are played online....and since that's going to happen people will abuse the hell out of the "broken" or unbalanced characters...and I never said everyone sucks because Yoda sucks, where did you read that?

I got this a couple of days ago. It's... well, it's just fantastic.
Vader is awesome, the apprentice is good but Vader is the don mega.
Apart from that, Nightmare got awesome and Mitsurugi is still awesome. I'm so impressed with Nightmare this time around that I based my 'KAK' on him. With all the Death armour on I'm kicking ass!

Okay... One final sum of SC4 and that it:

Imagine buying a "Jam-filled doughnut" and biting into it, only to find someone replaced the jam for toothpaste.

Hehe...I'm not going to blame you for hating a great game. There are plenty of great games I hate. Like FFVII, Mario 64, and Kingdom Hearts 1. So hate all you like, I'm just happy I could get dozens of hours of enjoyable playtime out of it.

Hell, I am pretty sure everyone knows my stance on 2-D vs 3-D fighters and I think SC4 is quite awesome. For what it is at least, a 3-D fighter. Might be the best 3-D fighter ever, or at least the best SC since the first.

All we need now is SC4 + Star Wars: MOTTK = new Star Wars only fighter, lol:-D

lol, hilarious

@ Tim, yeah dude although I'm not saying so I'm sure there would be those nutty Tekken fans that will disagree with that....I hate Tekken though lol

As far as 3D fighters, I'm going to pick MK:DA or DOA4 but that's me. Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to 3D fighters. I just never liked Tekken or SC, could never get into either of them that much..

I don't understand all the XB fanboys going on about DOA. I mean, it's okay, but what's so great about it? After SCIV, SFIV and MKvDCU hopefully they'll have a bit of choice and see that DOA really is just softcore porn.

And I couldn't play with you anyway Glam, no Gold account.

Yoda & Vader in both versions of SC IV!
Namco Bandai has officially confirmed this long running rumor... On October 23rd, a download will be available on both systems that will bring Darth Vader to the 360 version, and Yoda to the PS3 version respectively! In Japan, where this news was first announced, the price of this download is said to be 600 yen... which means it should run about $5 in the states.

I KNEW we had to PAY for VADER!! Friggin' NAMCO...

I never got on with FF7 just because of the way the character leaves on scre facing one way (E.g: left ) and comes out facing another direction (E.g. down). After about thirty minutes I got annoyed. It felt like someone had skimpt on something in the planning. Saying that I really loved FF Tactics on the GBA, really, it was simple, it was fun and stole fifteen days of my life from me until I realised a project deadline was due in three days when I was at college. I never picked it p again. Not tht I don't like it... I like it too much.

Kingdom Hearts I don't like because of the characters in it, my group of friends were actually split in half on KH2 on whether or not we liked that game. Half of us loved it, the other half hated it. I noted my bro was on the side that loved it, but out of all those on that side (he included) within a day of completing it the game was selved. I said to my bro "If your not going to play it, why did you buy it?"

Can't speak on Mario64... At all. :-/

Ah... Going off topic...

Despite the fact I hate SC4 with passion, I'd buy it and any downloads (I wish I was allowed to do that) if it just gave me the option to turn a few things off. I don't want Vader/Yoda, I'm not even a Star Wars fan, nor do I like to be blinded by high contrast. Its not much of a request, just let me fiddle with the in-game contrasts and character select options. I'll put up with the rest of the stuff I hate if you did that NAMCO. :-(

You can call it "softcore porn," but I'm entitled to call SC a button masher.

Everyone acknowledges that VF is the preeminent 3-D fighter. The rest are all fun, but not nearly as balanced or competitive. There's no reason to single out DOA.

Not until SCIV came out. And it might be the best 3-D fighter ever, if not since the original SC.

VF as a series is yes, better. DOA is a joke IMO, and Tekken is way overrated.

Look at me defending 3-D fighters, lulz:hmmmm:

SC is a button busher, more so then any other series. I started playing against my bro by hitting random buttons until I "learnt" moves. My bro taught my half-bro's how to play it by telling them to "hit any buttom". If a noob can play it, and win, by hitting buttoms and making many good moves... Its a button basher.

One could argue any game has a level of button bashing, but any top grade MK player can beat a button basher, but with SC any button basher could beat a top grade player. ^_-

Thats absurd. Any good or decent player who understand how to really play it would destroy a button masher. Mashers stick out like sore thumbs, and I can guarantee, would be put in their place.

It was not so long ago someone mentioned in another SC related topic that the champion or whatever of this game (t least SC2 or SC3) lost to a 11 year old button basher. ^_-

Either way, I cn ensure you button bashers can beat top players...

...As I said, learnt how to play the game by button bashing; and I did it against many great players.

Edt:

And to add to that, I note that my button bashing against top players in SC3 to learn how to play everything since the mechanics had change was the ultimate reason why I don't like SC3; that was the easiest set of button bashing matches I'd ever won.

I was singling out DOA as being pretty much one of the worst, if not THE worst, of the main 3D fighter series. And while I acknowledge that VF is the most in-depth series going, I f*cking hate it. I had VF4 and the demo of VF5, and I actually prefer DOA tbh. I know I just contradicted myself.
