Wow that's a lot of hate. I'm almost certain you can choose to have the Japanese voices if you hate the english ones so much. If this game "hurts your eyes" then I think your TV needs readjustment (or maybe your EYES need readjustment). I don't even understand where you're coming from with that it's not a complaint I've ever heard...on like, any game ever.
But I'd like to explore this "SC2 feel" a bit more. What was so different about SC2? Ok, they had soul charge (which I never used anyway) but what else made it so different? The Tower is basically the same as Weapon Master mode which still made you jump through hoops to unlock things. You say SC3/4 want you to be a drone? I don't understand what you mean. SC2 doesn't just had you shit on a silver platter, it forces you to unlock things too. Could you elaborate and get an eye exam and get back to me?
Okay, the TV doesn't do it to any other game so I know its the game. Its not the first game to do that either (I think one of the FFs did the same). The game "Throne of Darkness" for the PC also hurts my eyes for a simulair reason. These are course, are not used on the same TV (ToD is on a monitor screen).
Okay, SC2 had unlockable content but it felt a lot less of a expedition to achieve them, you didn't notice the grinding. Okay, so sc3 has more rewards, but most of them are uneeded and you might as well not bother with. I don't know, I just got into SC2 a lot quicke then SC3 which just bored me. After ten days I wasn't bored with SC2, but after one day of Sc3 I had had enough. I don't know, something had been lost between the games, its like having ten chocolate buttons on a cake one day and nine on the next, you might notice something is odd, but you won't be able to figure out what it was and it will be kicking you until you figure it out.
What I mean by drones, is that if your someone like me, determined to unlock everything in a game no matter how pointless it is, you soon get fed up with the amount of things you have to unlock. I had the same feeling for MK:Arm as I did for SC3 when it comes to unlockable content and it took me two weeks to bring myself to finish that. I feel sulky for admitting it, but I'm still unlocking SC3 content even now (mostly because I've only just picked up the game again).
Ther are some things that you just can't explain. Its not like I will only like the orginals of a game and dimiss any sequals because I also rate:
-Streets of Rage2 felt a superior beast to no.1 and no.3
-Golden Axe 3 was far better then no. 1 and no.2
-Shining Force 1 and 2 I rate as equals
-Doom 2 was better then Doom and amanged to keep the series strong.
The best way I can descripe why its no fun anymore it that it feels like a commitment then a game. I know you don't have to unlock everything, but then you can see a game in its full glory until you do. I spent more time creating characters then I did playing them. That was the same for MK:arm. A game should never be like this. And as I said, had it not been for Tira I wouldn't have played it some much.
Cronicles of the sword became fun though, I must admit, once I got the soul of Voldo.
