Re: Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Episode 2

Can't wait to play this and the Episode Metal since i own the first one as well.

So has anyone played episode 2 yet? I've gotten all the achievements I'm likely ever gonna bother with (no gold account = no multiplayer stuff, and I'm not even gonna try that "collect every ring in the first special stage" crap).

Overall, it's pretty good, and better than episode 1 in pretty much every way, but there are quite a few areas that I kind of dread playing again. Most of the bosses drag on to the point of tedium and the "call Tails or die" parts serve no other purpose than to annoy to shit out of me. White Park act 3 is just tedious, Sky Fortress act 1 is frustrating and tedious, and the Sky Fortress boss is a frustrating, tedious, soaking wet bag of dicks. The final boss is just a pain in the ass.

Otherwise, the physics are better (although Sonic doesn't always react to slopes the way he should), the graphics are way better and the level design is mostly improved. I like using the combo moves for optional paths (the 69-ing ball of death is the shit) but I don't really like when they're required to progress through the act. Flying with Tails was always my least favorite method of transportation in the classics, and that hasn't changed here, but having to now use that over stupid ass bottomless pits with spikes and fire everywhere makes it even worse.

Episode Metal is kind of disappointing. Granted it's simply a bonus that didn't have to be there in the first place, but 4 slightly tweaked acts with no unique moves for Metal Sonic is pretty weak considering what I initially expected.

Oh yeah, and then there's Super Sonic. They managed to screwed him up again. His physics are completely unchanged from episode 1, so he plays like crap when you have regular Sonic to immediately compare him to. What the hell? I spend the better part of an hour on that final unrepentant bastard of a special stage and that's the reward I get?

I got Sonic Generations 2 days ago, and I'm loving it :). I especially love playing as Classic Sonic <3

But is the Casino Night Pinball a limited time offer DLC, or a pre-order bonus?

I can't find it in XBL marketplace.

"Soaking wet bag of dicks"

That's some colorful vocabulary you got there

That's because DCR is a funny dude. lol

Relevant to the subject of Ice Cap as DLC (take with a truckload of salt): http://www.tssznews.com/2012/05/19/rumor-alert-anonymous-sega-employees-discuss-projects/

I'm sure it's horseshit, but that'd be a great level lineup, so I'd really like to believe it. Ice Cap has always been one of my favorite zones, and although White Park in S4:E2 takes a lot of cues from it, it really deserves a more direct tribute. Hidden Palace would be awesome too, especially if they mix in elements from the scrapped Sonic 2 zone or even Lava Reef. Dragon Road from Unleashed was also pretty bad ass.

For some reason search doesn't pull it up on xbox.com, but I managed to find it through bing.

Unfortunately, the $1.59 price is for the Steam version. You only get a pinball game and nothing more. :/

I doubt that it's real either, but it would be nice if it was true. 2 classic stages, and 2 modern stages would be great, especially if one of those was Ice Cap.

Yeah, I can't find anything either on Xbox dashboard. If its just the pinball game and nothing more, I don't think that it's worth 320MSpoints/$4.

Thanks for the link. :)
