Some High Level Gameplay Videos from the Competitive Community at Iplaywinner.com

Reptile vs Kabal.

Reptile is a zoner character that forces the opponent toward him because of his great projectiles. Notice how his force ball ducks him under high attacks(like most other character's projectiles) AND how his acid spit is ridiculously fast. These two things together make it so going toe to toe with him in a ranged battle would be kind of downhill. One forceball juggle takes a gigantic chunk from your opponent so it is clear that it is the bread and butter of his gameplay.

Kabal in these videos gets most of his damage by actually out smarting the Reptile player into force balling and jumps in for his combos. He also times his approach with dashes and jumps to predicts when is a good time to dash in. He severely discourages the opponent from jumping because his short hop fireball = a free 35% juggle for Kabal. Kabal could shorthop fireball VERY fast on reaction, and could actually spam them versus a character that isn't as good as zoning as Reptile in this video. If this were Johnny vs Kabal, the Kabal player would most definitely be zoning Johnny instead.

See how Kabal uses his enhanced dash(which goes through projectiles) to seriously mess with the Reptile player's game.

Notice how they both forward then dash backward to bait the opponent into throwing out normal hits so they could punish accordingly. It's alot like the mobility in game in Tekken. Alot of baiting. This makes it so the safest battle someone could have is right in the opponent's face so you have no risk of whiffing your move and getting destroyed because of it.

Also notice how they are hit confirming their normal strings into their specials like Kabals hook sword swing. If they see the opponent blocked the first hit of the string they don't bother latching on the unsafe special move at the end.

So what do you guys think so far? Because of the nature of their characters we haven't seen some sick mixup game from up close. And their reaction defense from up close is just a tad sloppy still, but it's really early. Either way these players ARE playing these characters and this game the way the developers intended them to be played so I think you guys will be happy with what you're seeing here.

Wish I could of explained more of the mixup game up close, but these characters don't play that way. Either way it looks f***ing sexy if you ask me.

Sorry about the bad audio.

Nice breakdown.

One question? Was/is there a reason the Kabal player never threw out his low projectile? Couldn't he have played around abit more to force Reptile to either jump over it or take chip damage, if avoiding the chip then follow with the dash special?

Great thread, I really like that gameplay. I didn't know that you could shoot Kabal's projectiles so quickly, and his ground saw is awesome too. His projectile in the old games was a little risky to pull off, and usually was just used at the end of a combo. His ground saw in the old games was way too risky and also pointless against CPU. I'm really glad how both characters turned out though.

I just can't wait to see what's to come in the next few months once people learn the characters and also mix in enhanced specials.

Well the thing behind the ground saw leaves Kabal on the floor for a very long time while he's recovering from throwing the attack. Reptile is throwing acid and forceballs like a crazy man, if Kabal would of ground sawed Reptile would of just recovered from the ground saw hit stun and juggled Kabal from getting hit by the force balls. The small amount of damage the saw would do wouldn't be worth the risk of getting hit by the forceball because of it.

It's just generally not a good idea to throw out too many projectiles against Reptile. Kabal's shorthop fireball has little to no ending lag so that's why he prefers that instead. He did throw out the ground saw in some juggles, but he knows better than to throw out any grounded fireballs or ground saws from standing position randomly against this opponent.

It sounds like they are playing on a fightstick

Edit: At least one person definitely is which makes me feel a little more better about getting the TE . . I guess.

too bad the video is bad and audio is delay slightly off. and i would have like if they chose other characters too but guess theyre trying to get good at one so it be their go to character.

vids like this excite and scare the shit out of me
whats going to happen if one of these guys lose online shit storm but good players thow

how is he throwing kabals energy ball so fast, what is the input for that?

It's just jump fireball, jump fireball, jump fireball. He's just doing it really fast. Doing the fireball in the air stops you from ascending any higher. So you have to do it as close to the ground as possible.

It's crucial for a Kabal and Mileena player to know how to shortjump projectile to properly zone out the opponent.
