I think Fayte just misunderstands what they're going for. Seems to think that having a 2D fighting plane means that all 3-dimensional aspects should be removed. Side-stepping is what caused a lot of turmoil amongst the old-school crowd, but there are actually even worse things that were implemented that really didn't have anything to do with the 3D fighting plane. (Namely more fluid but slower animations.)
no not at all i understand they're going for 2d gameplay
I dnt mind the camera closing in on characters when they throw, fatalities etc but i'd rather the Y-axis on the camera stay still when i'm actually fighting makes the game look more 2D/Classical that way
its the small touches that make a big difference
