Slang

Trilogy

New member
alright, in this thread i want to talk about slang, because i feel that it gets mixed up between different people

for instance, i found a new meanings to two words that i've already known to mean something else.

Flaming someone- (new meaning)to talk about someone on the internet
-(original meaning) to jone on someone nonstop without holding back

Scrub- (new meaning) an inexperince player who spams moves and uses immature ways to defeat their opponent with no wish to increase their skills
-(original meaning)a guy that thinks he's fly
And is also known as a buster
Always talkin' about what he wants
And just sits on his broke ass
A scrub is a guy that cant get no love from me
Hanging out the passenger side
Of his best-friend's ride
Trying to holler at me

Is there any other slang that you either don't understand, or that you feel people assign a different meaning to??

I don't want no scrubs! A scrub is a guy who can't get no (double negative, lol) love from me! God, I hate that song. :P

So I guess the purpose of this thread is to explain a shift in Internet terminology?

TLC - Scrubs ^^

And Scrub is basically an alternative to the word "Noob", simple as that. Maybe more specifically someone that is under the impression that they are good but totally unaware of how much they fail.

Flaming is just going batshit crazy on someone over the internet, especially when the insults are taken to a more personal level.

Your "original" meanings aren't exactly the correct meanings, they just have different meanings among different groups. Obviously, if your homeboy on the street uses the word "Scrub" he's more than likely NOT talking about someone that fails at a video game.

YES!! or ask what a particular word means, or to list a slang word and see if someone else has a separate meaning for it

You should thank your lucky stars that you don't know it.

"Flaming" is bashing and insulting someone on the internet, not just talking about them in general.

well, when did this definition for "flaming" come up, because since i was a child to flame someone meant to go ballistic on someone, like talk about them, but with no break for a comparatively longer time

another word that i'm surprised people still don't know is to "jone" or "jonin" on someone

I've never heard "Flaming" used in real life other than to describe the way some homosexual males act, that's it.

I have never heard that definition of flaming....I didn't even know the word was used outside the net.....anyways, flaming on the net = insulting someone.

Language is dynamic, words and their meaning change with time. Football is a name for two different sports depending on whether you live in the United, or the UK (or the rest of the world for that matter). Within the same country different people may use different words to describe the same thing. What I call soda, folks from the North call pop.

I guess the rest of us aren't familiar with the Missourian dialect of English. :(

I wish the whole Umadbro thing would stop, EVERYBODY says it. It's the most unoriginal thing you could ever say and it just makes you sound like you play too many video games. Same thing with the whole cool story bro BS as well. People always say it at times trying to be clever and funny, but theres nothing clever about using the same comeback thousands of 14 year olds use online daily.
