Shin Megami Tensei

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

They are finally releasing a English P4 art book. I'm gonna pick that shit up. The 2nd Volume to the P4 Anime should be out sometime in February I think and it'll be in English like the 1st Volume too. Hopefully the 2nd one comes with the TRUE ending. Episode 26.

I just finished my 3rd playthrough of P4G yesterday. Maxed out ALL Social Links and completed the Persona Compendium. It was a kick ass playthrough. I need 2 more trophies in which one is the hardest one to get.

1. Compulsive Reader. Read every book
2. Hardcore Risette Fan. Hear 250 DIFFERENT navigation's.

Hardcore Risette Fan is a ridiculous trophy since you can't be over leveled or anything like that. Each of your party members have to die, you have to use every kind of attack (I don't ever use Dark or Light attacks) and you get a unique one from the Reaper and 2 unique ones from fighting Margaret and I think there is 1 or 2 for the final boss fight.

So you have to do A LOT for that trophy. Which is just a dumb bronze trophy. Reading all the books shouldn't be too hard.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I'm wondering, after you beat P4G and start a new game+ option, is it possible to change your characters name?

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I'm resuming P4 now that I got Dragon Age out of the way for now. I'm wondering of Quests are worth doing, especially ones that essentially require you to farm for items in dungeons.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

In P4, not really. The Quest in P3:FES are worth doing because Elizabeth will give you items to create certain Persona's, while P4 quests don't really give you anything worth while except in P4G were Ms. Kashiwagi will give you a Gekkoukan High School uniform.

So, in short. No.

I'm wondering, after you beat P4G and start a new game+ option, is it possible to change your characters name?

Yes in a NG+ you can change your name. However, you will be disappointed with the NG+ because your level doesn't carry over. The only things that carry over are

1.Money
2.Compendium
3.Stats (courage, knowledge, understanding ect ect)

Also, just a heads up. Izanagi-no-Okami is NOT part of the compendium. You'll have to make him every time.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

That's good to know. I want to get the most money, loot, and experience with the fewest dungeons runs. I guess I could complete quests around the same time I defeat the optional bosses.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I remember having money problems in my first run of P4. It was because it was my first time playing it lol.

Money in P4G is just beyond easy to get. It really is. Just play on Very Easy and each fight basically drops 10,000Y every fight lol. Golden Hands drop an insane amount of hands on very easy.

Took this pic before I knew about the built in screen shot function, so give me a break lol.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I spend most my money on consumable items and withdrawing personas from compendiums. Weapons and armor seem to be too expensive to upgrade often.

Right now, I'm at Rise's dungeon, trying to survive and make it to the final floor. I'll have exit the dungeon and restock my supplies though, since I'm encountering a lot of enemies that can wipe out my party if they get the initiative. My main character is level 28 with the rest of the party members being level 26-27.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

Vanilla is actually harder than Golden. They turned the difficulty down on P4G by a lot. P4G is basically a joke when it comes to difficulty.

I completely forgot that the shadows in Vanilla are the purple orb things. In P4G, they're the slime blob things like in P3.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

There are both blobs and orbs in Vanilla. I personally find it harder to sneak attack on the orbs. Getting the initiative can make or break encounters. I can't count the number of times my party got raped because a particularly strong enemy got the first move.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I don't remember the blobs, but I remember the orbs.

I had the same problem as you, I remember that much. The orbs are harder to get the PA. After awhile, I stopped trying to get the PA on them because it seemed like they always got the EA majority of the time since they're so fast.

They probably got rid of them in P4G since they were harder to get the PA on lol.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

Persona 3 all this weekend, no excuses.

Studying every damn day afterschool.

I must do it, for Mitsuru <3

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I wish was I allowed to do after school activities during the the week of finals/midterms....must raise S-links and make money.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

I ended being at top of the class and finished the Void Quest dungeon.

I'm trying to catch the Guardian, but the bastard won't appear.

Edit:

I finally caught one, but it took a lot of tries. I never liked fishing mini-games.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

Pretty much dropped Persona 3 for 4, recently. I enjoy 4 much more than 3, because it has a much better cast of characters.

Finally got Kanji, and halfway to Rise.

Yukiko is ALWAYS in my party. Such a great support character.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei: Persona Series

(This is a REALLY simple and random list which most likely will be added to in the future)

Pros and Cons of Persona 3

Pros:

-Darker atmosphere is pretty sweet, but I guess this depends all on opinion. I'm sure people prefer Persona 4's more colorful tone, but I always favor a darker theme, so Persona 3 really does that well.

-The BGM when roaming the school is better than in Persona 4. Is this a big deal? No, but **** it.

-Minato is cooler than Yu. Just kidding.

-More creative and expansive story. You really feel like fate is in your hands, and all that shit.

-Clothing is better. Maybe it's just me, but my clothing has not changed AT ALL in Persona 4 yet, except from the Fall/Winter Uniform to Spring/Summer. Can you even get a different appearance in P4? Well, having Mitsuru in bikini battle armor is sweet anyway.

-Better all out attack. The sound is also on sync, unlike in Persona 4 when you do an all-out attack

-Elizabeth is cooler than Margaret. Pretty simple enough.

-S. Links don't screw with you as much as they do in Persona 4

Cons:

-Free roam environment BLOWS. The design of the school blows. The place where all the shops are at blows. The shrine blows. Everything blows, and just doesn't have me motivated to explore.

-Battle music SUCKS. It's so annoying, seriously. I prefer Reach out to the Truth much more.

-Not all the characters are great. Akihiko, Aigis, Mitsuru, Junpei, and others are cool, but some characters I seriously don't give two shits about. And when they are part of your team, it blows even more, to have to see their stupid, unwanted faces!

-S. Links aren't as good as the ones in Persona 4. There's some nice ones, but a good amount just feel like a chore. Like with the stupid class president.

-Variety of weapons is nice, but I prefer the very unique styles of the P4 characters, like Kanji with his steel chair, and Chie with her feet. Not a big different though.

Persona 4 Pros and Cons:

Pros:

-Open world design is awesome. I'm actually encouraged to explore, and just try new things like the capsule machine or a steak bowl or something.

-The whole thing with gathering materials for Deidara

-S. Links are fabulous so far, except for one. Stupid Ai.

-Characters are beyond amazing. I adore everyone, and love all the dialogue and things...except with Ai.

-Reach out to the Truth and the dungeon music

-Velvet Room design

-Dungeon design (Mere looks)

Cons:

-Damn near impossible to get a first attack. Seriously, even if you get a hit from behind, 7 times out of 10, you didn't get shit.

-Dungeon design BLOWS. Each floor is TOO freakin' big, and just feels like you're going around in circles. This is one of my biggest grips of the game, seriously. Even the map doesn't help at all. I remember how annoying Yukiko's castle was for me.

-Some ailments combined with certain moves can be a recipe for some cheap ass shit

-Some enemies are either too easy, or too annoying. I beat the Sub-boss in Kanji's dungeon, and only got hit once, because he just kept charging and charging each turn.

Cons of both games:

**** Hama and Mudo

**** having no way to buy items to give you SP, except Soda cans

1. Minato is way cooler than Yu (though Minato is not his official name. He's got an official name now, I just can't remember it)
2. The social link at the shrine in P3 makes up for every social link. Not the little girl, but Akinari. His social link is by far the best social link in ANY Persona game to date.
