Shaolin Trailer + Bo rai cho

Still not a fan of liu kang. I don't think he looks that cool, and from first impressions his gameplay doesn't appeal to me(I mean I've always been more partial to the icey sub-zero than the firey scorpion) Who knows though. Maybe that'll change. I do have to say though, one thing I've liked about liu kang in mk9 that apparently transitions into mkx, is the attitude he has. Not just some follower of raiden.

There's one thing some of you are forgetting: we saw MKII events in MK9. It is a new timeline, after all. Unless Raiden suddenly starts getting all emotional over old events, I doubt that's from MKII.

The whole "problem" (more like we still don't know what happens and, since the game isn't out yet, we shouldn't) is Raiden changing costumes and their young looks. We still don't know how many times Raiden will decide to change costumes during story, so there's that. It could be that they are the first ones to be ressurected and, in fact, maybe they are the ones who help resurrecting the "chosen ones". This creates a whole new level of confusion as to how they are resurrected and when, though. Will things just happen fast and during one or two chapters we will go through the entire NRW story? Shinnok's fall, Quan Chi's fall, everyone suddenly alive? That would suck, IMO. I felt that the ressurection was caused by something else and that the Bo Rai Cho dialogue was after Shinnok's fall, but if I have to fit the scene with Raiden, LK and KL somewhere, it just doesn't make sense. Unless Raiden keeps changing costumes, then it could be soon after their resurrection.

To be honest, I'm worried about certain story elements. NRW AND the whole blood demon/God/whatever seem like a bit too much for them to handle well in one game. I feel that NRW's part will be rushed and will mostly be just an excuse to follow MK9's cliffhanger and the ressurection of the dead characters.

I actually thought he was clearly younger. I mean, he doesn't have facial hair (and MKX already showed us that facial hair is a MUST for looking older. lol) and the overall design is different. They showed his older version, but that was the back from dead KL.
That and Raiden's "Where have you been, Kung Lao?" intro make me believe the resurrections will happen right after the Netherrealm War. Well, some of them, at least.

It can't be one chapter, because chapter 1 doesn't feature any confrontations with Quan Chi, and it's pretty clear from this trailer that a section of the NRW is devoted to taking the fight to Quan Chi in the Netherrealm. Two chapters is a safe bet at this point. Actually, it has been for a long while, IMO. I used to think it would be ch1 Kenshi, then ch2 Johnny, but now I put my money on ch2 Scorpion.

There's absolutely no reason to suspect that the blood demon/God story makes it out of the comic and into MKX.

For all we know, there are actually two Netherrealm Wars - one immediately after MK9, and one following the Outworld Civil War. I can't imagine that Shinnok's amulet being used and abused is just a red herring. He'll have some role to play later in the game, the only question is how large.

I believe our very own Nasty_Freak is working on that already.

Actually i can care less about Liu Kang. I'm here in the Philippines with barely any internet so that explains my absence in case you guys were wondering.

Just about all of the survivors of MK9 are going to have a Netherrealm War flashback sequence.

EDIT: Sorry, quoted the wrong person lol

Sorry if this has been answered but in the trailer Liu Kang has gotten older like Kung Lao. As the champion of the MK 1, doesn't that prevent him from aging. Did the reboot throw that out or am i thinking of something else.

It seems that being killed in Mortal Kombat (end of MK9) and being brought back via Quan Chi's sorcery to fight alongside Quan Chi negates that whole "Champion doesn't age" thing.

Technically, Raiden was the elder gods Champion at the end of MK9 and not Liu Kang, since Raiden (along with the help of the elder gods) defeated Shao Kahn, once and for all.

Thing is, Liu Kang is supposed to be immortal until the next tournament. The events of MK3 are not a tournament. So it does seem like they threw out the immortal thing.
