Retro New Sub-Zero

I agree, with everyone about the scar being nostalgic. It gave him a diff edge aside from being a ninja. He was more a less a badass rogue ninja with evolving powers. When I think mk3 was the first time he got the overhead freeze and ice clone. Would be a great dlc costume to bundle up with cyrax and sektor.

For the love of all things Lin Kuei, young SZ DOES NOT have the scar; only the elder SZ. Midway/NRS always switched between older and younger Sub Zero in each game.

^Ummm, fail? Unless I'm remembering incorrectly, shirtless Sub Zero from MK3 was confirmed as Kuai Liang, not Bi Han, in his in-game bio. He's the one that has the scar over his eye.

I like unmasked Subby from MK3 because he was....hot. That face. *drools* And I actually wouldn't mind seeing that outfit come out as DLC. But I am sure that chances are pretty low. They would rather make a UMK3 ninja look so they can "palette swap" that to everyone. Because then Sub-Zero would end up with 5 costumes. MK primary, MK alt, MK1, UMK3 ninja, MK3 unmasked. Dreaming is free. :)

Lol, this topic will always bring mixed reaction. If you don't like it, don't use it ;). I learned that from the Kratos inclusion.

anyone know how the younger sub-zero even got that eye scar? I was thinking maybe it had something to do with him turning into cyber-sub and getting captured instead of smoke that the events that WOULDA gave him a scar did not happen.

I believe it had something to do with Kung Lao and his hat.

It was youger Sub with the scar in UMK3 old Sub was Noob that being said I would support MK:DA alt for Cyber Sub Zero

In UMK3T there was three incarnations of Sub Zero: Elder(unmasked), Elder(Noob), Younger(standard garb). It was revealed that after failing to kill Shang Tsung the elder SZ fled into hiding, returning with new garb and a scar. As I said before, Midway always changed which version of Sub Zero would be implemented into the games. The inclusion of the scar to "younger" SZ was an oversight by Boon and Midway/NRS, possibly in homage to Sub Zero fans.

I'd rather have a skull headed Scorpion. Even though I rarely use him in MK9, I use Sub-Zero even less.

That was the explanation given in Shaolin Monks and the state of that game's canonization (not used ecclesiastically lol) is highly questionable. The origins of the scar came from Kuai Lang's escape from the Lin Kuei. They marked him for death via that scar.

You are wrong, in MK3, UMK3 and MKT Unmasked SZ is Kuai Liang the younger, and Noob and Masked SZ are Bi-Han, the Elder.

They decided to make Kuai Liang use ninja garbs and a mask again, because fans didnt like the ridiculous unmasked SZ with suspenders.

In MK3 Kuai Liang appeared unmasked and Bi Han was already dead at that point, though Bi-Han appears as masked SZ in UMK3 because it was like an anthology not canon game.

gotta say I disagree.. ninja - mask = fail. :P if that were to be DLC as a skin then okay but I wouldn't want Subzero to return to this as a primary look in the next mk.. the only thing I'd choose this over from is that shredder look which was uhh.. yeah I'll just skip commenting :P you can still hope for this as a skin for this mk though, they'll probably launch more klassics and proceed after mk1 so why not? I'd be thrilled to see him in the UMK3 costume though , those ninja costumes were quite epic
