Rate mkx's overall roster from 0-100

Take out Jax, Jacqui, Kung Lao and Sonya for Fujin, Havik, Cyrax and Sektor. 100 but as it is now... 72. Need to see everyone first. Could be higher I guess.

I'm gonna rate every character.

Sub-Zero - 100
Scorpion - 100
Kenshi - 100
Takeda - 100
D'Vorah - 100
Kitana - 90
Johnny Cage - 90 (waaaay better in this game)
Mileena - 85 (same as Cage, and she finally looks good outfit-wise)
Raiden - 80 (It's time for NRS to do some more original and inspired stuff with electricity...)
Ferra/Torr - 75 (Love Torr, hate Ferra)
Ermac - 75 (I love him but I'm not digging his new outfits)
Reptile - 75 (same as Ermac, his alt is quite good though)
Kotal - 75 (I love his look but his gameplay... ehm...)
Quan Chi - 75
Kung Jin - 65 (he dissapointed me, I expected more)
Cassie - 60
Kung Lao - 55 (I don't like him that much)
Kano - 50 (never liked him but he looks better this time around)

Tremor - 90
Erron Black - 75
^(I haven't seem them but I like the idea behind them and their outfits, that's why I gave them such a high score)

Goro - 60
Tanya - 50
Shinnok - 50
Predator - 50
^(I'm giving these 4 guys the benefit of the doubt)

Liu Kang - 0
Jason - 0
Jax - 0
Jacqui - 0
Sonya - 0
^(I haven't seen anything about this last 5 chars but I know I won't like them at all)

So... let's make an average score....

62.9... let's make it 70. I give the roster a 70/100.

I won't do a correct math because I think the roster can only truly be bad if there are a lot of characters with barely any story importance. Like in MK9. But that game is understandable since it was supposed to be the MK1-UMK3 nostalgia game.

For example, if characters like Reptile, Ermac, D'Vorah and Erron Black are mindless grunts, I won't give the roster a very high score. However, the simple fact that we now have intro dialogues already contribute to every character's story and personality.

So right now, I'll give the roster an 80. I still think there should be more evil characters, and more surprises, like post-MK3 chars. But there are no characters I truly consider bad (maaybe Jax, but again, it'll depend on his story and personality in the game. If he ends up serving the same purpose in the story as in MK9, than yeah, I'll consider him a bad character).

Positives:
+ finally a cowboy but without the indian (though Kotal Kahn could count)
+ nailing Mileena's dark look and getting rid of that weird Tarkatan mouth
+ finally honouring Kitana's royal side
+ Sub-Zero and Scorpion finally look great, not simple ninjas and not overdone like in MK9 and Deception
+ bringing back Lui Kang and possibly making him a fire god / neutral
+ making Jax not that military man, but the brutal big dude who looks cool
+ finally nailing the crossbow with a character and giving him a dragon stick!
+ finally nailing Ermac's non-human and non-ninja look
+ giving Raiden his powers back
+ finally bringing in another animal inspired character
+ finally bringing in a proper big brute and having a a little dwarf makes it even better
+ giving Kano his movie look and upgrade him

NRS biggest roster moves:
+++++ GORO, his look and just bringing him back was the biggest surprise and very welcomed. 3 variations and for the first time in a main game playable without the hassle, cannot wait.
+++++ finally bringing back SHINNOK and making him look scary as hell!
+++++ PREDATOR!!!
++++ finally an aztec inspired character and a new Kahn, no Shao!
++++ finally nailing Reptile's look and bringing him back
++++ taking a chance on Tremor who has a lot of potential

Negatives:
- bringing back Sonya & Johnny as well as giving them a daughter who is lame.
- bringing back Kung Lao instead of just giving his cutting hat to another character, there's nothing special besides that hat.
- bringing back Kenshi, who is just a blind old guy with a sword and there's already telekinetic based characters.
- not introducing a new young street fighter / martial arts champion
- Takeda: his name, look and his star wars weapons.
- giving Fujin's moves to others, while he is one of the few post MK trilogy characters with serious potential.
- no new netherrealm / outworld evil character (Erron Black is neutral).
- not having a martial arts master.

NRS biggest mistakes:
----- not bringing back Baraka and Havik who are making an appearance, have tremendous story value, potential and probably fit the new darker tone of this game over 90% of the roster.
---- with the more serious tone, having at least 3 characters who are all about jokes and sarcasm (Cassie, Johnny & Takeda). Then you might as well bring Bo Rai Cho back.
---- Tanya and Jason over other more deserving and fitting characters.

I give it a 90/100 or 9/10 since I still see potential with some characters I dislike because every single one has at least one variation that is great. Also they have just made some total awesome moves with Goro, Shinnok, Kotal Kahn, Reptile, Tremor and even Lui Kang I hope. Basically for me it would be perfect if you add Baraka and Havik, maybe Fujin. Take out Johnny / Sonya & Kung Lao / Kenshi if that's what it would take. For the rest, this roster is just awesome!

The only way, IMO at least, for the roster to be salvaged would be if Fujin were to somehow make the main roster (this would mean that there would have to be 26 character slots), while having Reiko and/or Havik be the sub-boss & boss. It's still wouldn't be perfect, since I was really hoping for those two to be playable, but at the very least it keeps them relevant, while opening the door for them to be playable in the next game.

Not including Reiko/Havik in the main roster only to have them be DLC is not acceptable. Not including them in the main roster for the sake of having them be boss characters, is. DLC characters always come off as incomplete, at least from my experiences in the past.

I'd give the roster a score of 95, because I wish it had none of the dead MK9 characters.
Aside from that, the roster is stellar, to me.
The only thing that could be even better for me is a 9th new character or Fujin as an unlockable or DLC, but those 2 things don't affect the 95 score that I give the roster.

It's fascinating, reading both this forum and TYM, the sheer number of people who seem to be namedropping Fujin as someone they'd like to see -- either because they're long-time fans, or simply just because they like the character's background and the fantastic role he could have (and I hope does have) in a story like MKX's.

I've wanted another good Fujin in an MK game, ever since MK4.
Armageddon Fujin was utter ass, IMO.
He's been long overdue for another proper appearance in an MK game, especially since he got f***ed out of being in MK9, according to the hacked audio files that have the announcer calling his name.

That aside, the wind god with 3 variations and some of his MK4 moves would be sick as hell with a nice revamp.
If he's not 1 of the 2 unlockable characters in MKX, then I sure as hell hope that he's post-Kombat Pack DLC.

I'll give the roster a 90/100 I feel like a lot of the old characters have received a great revamp! I usually don't play as Johnny but now I can't wait to have the game and play as him and Kitana. I'm really surprise to see people saying that the roster would be better if bland characters such as Kabal, Stryker, Cyrax and Sektor were included these characters are usually secondary to the main story and imo they're not as important as the characters already included. I took of the 10 points because I don't find any of the DLC appealing. Predator and Jason are irrelevant to me and I think Tanya and Tremor are a waste of space they could've added Fujin & Reiko instead. Overall it seems like MKX will be one of the best MK games ever and I can't wait to play it!
