Rate mkx's overall roster from 0-100

Having Kitana and Tanya is almost perfect for me... However, it´s almost the MK9 roster, so I cannot give it a 100...
If it gets more post mk3 chars like fujin it´ll be a 100, but now it could be an 80??? 90??? (If they eliminate jax it could be a 200!!!)

Exactly, the only returning ones that weren't playable in MK9 is Shinnok, Tanya and Tremor (well, he was in the PS Vita version, but...) 2 of them DLC for $30 Dollars =/

I agree with the idea that the klassics from MK1-2-3 have to be in the games, but in a 26 roster, 10 is enough... 14 is an unnecessary number.

And feel the same way about Jax. They not only put one of the most boring characters in the main roster, but had to put his freaking daughter too.

70.

No Reiko, Fujin or Havik. Really takes away from getting a decent grade from me, in regards to the roster.

Too many descendants/family members, as well as Special Forces overload.

Had they removed a few SF characters and added a few 3D/post Trilogy characters, the roster would have been perfect.

Hell, I would have even been fine with people like Li Mei, Hotaru, Sareena, etc., in addition to the three I mentioned earlier.

7.5/10.

It's decent but no excellent. If Jax, Liu Kang and Sonya would've replaced with Sektor, Smoke and Fujin, it would've gone up to 9/10.

Considering what we know so far (I mean, I don't believe most leaks) I'd give it a 72.

Pros - Everyone looks amazingly designed visually and the variations are great. New Characters are all good additions with their own unique styles. Lot's of favourites are in.

Cons - Bar Shinnock, we played every klassic character in MK9, the lack of revamped post mk4 characters and all the revived "dead" characters is very disappointing. No cyborgs and low species diversity with it mainly being special forces dominated. All signs appear to point to the boss being a playable character which i find underwhelming.

This hate for Jax is getting ridiculous. He's not my favorite, hell, I rarely used him, but he does have his fans, and he's not a "wasted" slot, Neatherrealm has decided that he has a part in the story, so he's in. I'm all for opinions, and its okay to not like a character, but damn, some of you guys act like Jax broke into your house and ate the last piece of cheesecake.

60 / 100
Let me explain in thorough detail why I have the lowest rating so far;

The roster is just a bore to me.
50% of the returning characters happen to be the ones I was hoping would be left out, (Especially Liu Kang, Kung Lao, Jax, and Reptile)
and the new characters all seem like they were thrown together in a rush.
This is the first game in MK history that I wasn't excited about new characters. When Tanya, Reiko, and Shinnok came into play at MK4 I was excited. When Frost, Nitara, and Drahmin arrived in MKDA, I was excited. When Shujinko, Onaga, and Havik came out, I was doubled with excitement.
MKX's new characters don't give me any excitement. They all make me just yawn. The only new character I think will be fun to play is Jacqui.
Original score 40, Shinnok +10, making my score 50, Tanya +10, making my total score 60/100.

Well until its in my hands i cant officially give it a grade. But I would like to think itll have a high score. Like an A++ and kick all other games A.S.S LMAO

I don't hate him. He's just so damn boring. He adds little to the story, has a generic personality, his moves are very basic and bland, his fatalities sub-par and overall I barely notice he's in the game. Jax's biggest problem is that's he's simply...there. Nothing more or less.

The expectations on this forum for permadeath in the sotry is so bizarre considering we are talking about a game whos single most defining characteristic is the ability to brutally murder your enemies after a victory. If every death remained canon we would basically have a new roster every game, it just sinply doesnt make sense to expect that. Being a game its important for NRS to put function before form and so when people cry foul that characters that seemingly died are returning.... Smh

On topic: roster grade is %70. I like a minimal amount of returners, and i really like a small portion of the new characters. When it was first showed i had hope that characters like cassie cage were intended to replace their bland, overused parents and in some cases, streamline the ideas behind two characters into a single character to create space. That didnt happen. Jacqui is here, but so is jax. Johnny, sonya, and cassie are all here in the same game.... Is that really necessary? Kung Jin, Kung Lao etc. Etc. And really what that means is that in most cases those new characters feel a bit like throwaways and in almost every case are the least interesting newcomers. Furthermore, those characters take up space from classoc characters that i usually really enjoy playing as. And finally it just seems a bit cliche and coincidential that all of these characters have children of approximately the same age, each of whom is a competent kombatant.... Just a little cheezey and unnecessary and most importantly its not being done in a way tuat works.

I wouldnt be surprised to find that in the future we never see Kung Jin, Takeda, or Jacqui again and they all end up going the way of most post MK3 characters.

Im glad to see Shinnok and Tanya return for the first time in a while and Tremor is aj exciting addition. I hope to see him and charCters like Dvorrah and Erron Black in thw future.

Bht i miss characters like the cyborgs, Noob Saibot, Rain, Skarlet Kabal, Stryker and my personal favorite among the obscure, Chameleon.

The sidlining of old favorites hurts a little more in the face of guezt characters, which as a concept is itself unnecessary, but in the case of these particular guests seem quite a bit left field and unnecessary, i woukd jever want to play as either of them, and.that theyre taking up half the DLC i already paid for adds insult to injury. The Carl Weathers skin for jax is hilarious and comes as a small consolation.

But Ermac is on the roster, and as long as he is around i have to be greatful. They included hin and did right by him so i am happy to play what im sure will be a great game. Even if the absence of my other favorites is felt. It gives me some space to enjoy some newer characters.

Let's see: 29 characters (including DLC)....

I could do without Reptile, Ermac, Kung Jin, and Tremor...

So 25/29 = 86%...

But Tanya is on the roster so that bumps it up 10%...

But she isn't on the MAIN roster so -3...

That rounds it out to a 93!

A--

So far is 100 to me. I just can give a final note when I see who won't appear. So far, everybody that is in has awesome looks, awesome variations, nice plot, nice kombat skills, powers...that's it.

Im looking forward to trying out 3/4 of the roster. That is impressive to me in a game with this substantial of a roster.

So 75/100 for the base roster + 15 bonus points for wanting to play all of the currently announced DLC

90/100

I agree, along with any of the kharacters that aren't from the Diarrhea, Disease and Death, era these guys/gals are going to whine until the MK11.

Welcome back Mr. Lao

I'm surprised by the relatively low scores. I really like this roster so far, but there are still seven characters who we haven't seen game play for (which is why it surprises me so many have already written off Jaqui). It isn't ideal - I am also one of those that would have preferred Jax, Liu Kang, and one of J. Cage/S. Blade be left out for either more interesting, older 3D characters or even better, brand new ones - but I think the revamps and move sets are all top notch. I can't say there is a character that I'm really fond of that was left out, except maybe Kabal, though he was in the last game so it doesn't bother me at all. I love the variations and the characters they've included in the DLC.

Overall I give this roster a 95.
