Random MK9 news/tidbits

His parents must think Mortal Kombat is one of them 'brain enhancement games'. I hope new news on MK9 comes out soon.

Need I repeat how MK was the first game I ever played when I was 4 years old and it's helped shape me into what I am today?

It all depends on the child. I'm brilliant, introspective, and reasonable. Therefore cartoon violence doesn't affect me. Hell, Jerry did more horrible things to Tom than they do to each other in MK. At least the guys DIE afterward, instead of being confined to a wheelchair with brain damage and missing limbs.

I was watching horror films when I was 4. MK wasn't around. Mind you I was also watching kids cartoons like Rainbow Brite. My parents viewed that 4 year old didn't understand what their watching anyway so it doesn't matter. Nature programs are more grusome then many horror films at times. What is fake blood to a animal being ripped apart for real? I watched them to.

Heck most of the veteran fans played MK when they were less then 10.

The idea is, nobody cares if Jason or Chucky goes around butchering animals. The only life that matters is human life if you give children the idea that taking human life is somehow "awesome" or "desirable" then their fragile little minds that can't distinguish between reality and fantasy yet (ever notice how often little kids pantomime things?) will tell them to murder and maim.

Human life is all that matters...the arrogance...

Yet I have no desire to go around murdering and maiming anyone... Well except my dad and like I'd actaully do that. The point is a kid needs to be taught that reality and fantasy are too different things, my parents taught me that. Besides, I can't actaully remember watching those horror films... That reminds me, I should re-watch those old horror films I saw as a child some time. ^_^

Anyway, we've got a really old topic in the general discussion on this. Plus we all have had this discussion before, censorships, age ratings, etc, etc since every MK fan has to deal with it being 18+ (except MK Vs. DC but that doesn't count) with more blood and gore then most other games.

Any MK9 news? Damn it's getting lonely without a new MK in my Xbox.

First time I played MK, arcade MK1 I was 4 =) and I'm not a serial killer either.

Good. I really don't want to see babalities in the new Mortal Kombat. Babalities contradicts the whole "darker and grittier" approach that Team MK is going for in 9.

I wouldn't see it as so much of a "contradiction". MK2 was a dark and gritty game for its time, despite the presence of those, and I can't imagine MK not poking fun at itself in any way in the next game, regardless of how dark it is.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't particularly want to see Babalities return either. They don't allow for the personality and creativity the other 'Alities do, and as soon as you've seen them once, the concept's already pretty well served its purpose.

Babalities were the most embarassing way to lose in the history of MK, especially in MK3/UMK3 because to perform them you couldnt block in the winning round. So if you got Babied, it was embarassing because the winner didnt even have to block you to beat you.

BRING THE BABIES BACK!!! lol
