I never really cared much for Rain, and I still don't get why all the hype about him, wish there was something I could see that would make me understand all the craze for him.

how would that make sense though? not that it couldn't be those two, but we're talking about characters that already got retro costumes as well. if we assume it's them, then we could also assume NRS will keep giving us ninja retro ones until they are done and then move on to other characters. but that wouldn't make sense.. it would make much more sense actually to stop ninja retros now, give each other character one classic and then either start over with 'new' retros for ninjas and then the normal characters or brand new costumes for each. it doesn't really make sense for them to give costumes for kitana, jade, scorpion etc then again kitana, jade, scorpion etc and then sonya, jax, cage etc and AGAIN sonya, jax, cage etc, it would be kinda tiring/boring, plus not good for marketing reasons

That's just the thing - I can't make sense of it, really. What I said was just a gut feeling. Probably will be something different.

X-Play on the G4 channel is on right now, and there will be an interview between Ed Boon and the show's hosts. We have theorized that Ed Boon might reveal the identity of the 4th DLC character, talk a little bit about Rain, and other interesting stuff like that. Go check on X-Play's official Twitter for confirmation, or if you can, just watch the show.
 
Just watch Ed's segment. Nothing new is revealed. All he talks about is DLC, their Twitter accounts, and the hotfix system... :(

What did he say about Shinnok? Just him being the main boss of the next game, or did he say anything else?

well people tend to like ninjas a lot :P I can understand most people that say this , not just for Rain but any character but mostly for the past. did you take a look at his new pic? the new costume? we'll be getting a video soon as well. I'm sure lots will change their minds about Rain as they have for other characters that were shown already, we're not in the palette swap days anymore, everyone has something to offer. from personal experience, stryker disgusts me. I'd MAYBE welcome a cop character with another design but stryker? I hated him always. the thing is, in the new mk I actually like him and his moves. so far NRS didn't disappoint with character designs and uniqueness, I'm quite sure if you see Rain in action, you might as well change your mind

too bad :/ I thought we'd be getting some Rain sneak peak or something at least. Shinnok was in Ed's list for DLC back then so that was pretty much known. I do like the goro-like news though, I'd prefer for that character to be a good and brand new intimidating boss though rather than a male Sheeva kind of character. so I guess with all this, we gotta wait some more days for Rain's video -.- can't wait :D
 
What I think would be a nice as a real Element of surprise, is for NRS to withhold the identity of the 4th DLC untile the day it is released.

They have to market the 4th DLC character and announce their release date (even though we all know it's almost certainly August 2nd), so that's not going to happen. I think it's more than likely that the identity of the 4th character will be revealed with their gameplay trailer, presumably the Monday after Rain is released (July 19th).
