Wait, so Rain only appeared in Trilogy and Armageddon right? I'm surprised at all the fans on such a lowkey character.

UMK3, MKT and MKA.
Why it surprises you? Kenshi has a lot of fans and he was in the same amount of games (not counting MK9), MKDA, MKD and MKA.
Or Tanya, there is a lot of people requesting her and she was in only in 3 games too, MK4, MKD and MKA.
Though Rain is the one who most fans has, just because he's a ninja, yes I know maybe sounds stupid but ninjas are the most loved chars of all, also he is totally unique, using water as his element of power, unlike other characters that uses borrowed powers like for example (no offense to fans of this char), Frost that uses ice.

I think part of the reason he got so many requests was because MK9 is basically a MK: Trilogy remake. Rain was the only missing main character. Him and Motaro...
But, to give him his due, I think he's a good character.

Really? In UMK3 too? I really did not know that,
and as for the Ninja thing I agree, look at Tremor, his only appearance was in one of the most (IMO) shameful Mk's to date, and despite this, He's loved by many.

He is a ninja and he was in the first 2d games so of course there is people who want him in MK9 and also the most of the MK3/UMK3 or MK4 characters are maximum in 2 or 3 games.

I never understood the whole fan obsession with Tremor.
He looked terrible in Special Forces (though that was a terrible game and it's obvious that he'd have a revamped look for MK9 if he ever came back), was a mere Black Dragon ninja, and he has by far the least chance of any requested MK character to be brought back, yet people still hope for him and even ask for him. I don't like him in his current form, but I guess he'd be cool with the new engine, being the only earth-controlling character that MK has.
Oh, and Motaro might be the single unluckiest character ever in MK.

Depends how you look at it.
He was a "Fake" character in the Arcade version's attract mode, making people think he was a secret. Rain and Noob were later added as playable characters to the SNES/Mega Drive (Genesis) versions, replacing Sheeva.

Boon knows Sheeva's is one of the most hated charters and least used in Mk9. Wondering if there making another Shokan warrior because they want a playable Shokan that everybody would like. Maybe he or she will be a more agile. Who knows. Glad there making a new character for the series though.

Yes, Rain only appeared in the console versions of UMK3, SNES and Sega Genesis, and sadly he wont be in the upcoming MK Acrade Collection cause this game will have MK1,MK2 and UMK3 but only the arcade versions, that means no Rain in MKAC, that sucks =( cause Im buying it but one of my fav chars wont be in it.
I hope the new playable shokan (if its really made) is a male since we already have Sheeva as the female shokan, and I hope he's "younger" so he can be smaller and with a higher speed.

I think Noob is going to be in MKAD, but they can tweak Rain and Noob to dont have infinites, why not?

I've seen a number of infinites on youtube for a bunch of characters. I can't speak to the ease of them, but it seemed like a lot of characters do have them. Rain was a bit unbalanced lol, but it didn't seem like Noob's was all that bad. Maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah well, it's kinda their fault for Sheeva being so hated. They didn't exactly try very hard to make her likable. It's almost as if they went in saying "We give up on Sheeva and so should the fans."
