Raiden & Tourneys

So i just recently started playing Raiden. Hes been my favourite since MK1, i played him for a little while when MK9 first came out but he was getting a bad rap for people using him to only spam and anyone i played online did spam which was offputting :-( Now that i have a better grasp of the game im really enjoying playing him again :-D and i dont spam! (all the time) i can also see why he is such a strong character. So i suppose my question is, if Raiden is top/god/hat/S tier, why havn't i seen anyone win tournaments with him? or anyone play him in tournaments for that matter? maybe someone else has seen him?

There are some high level raidens that have been nailing top 8 at some majors. But yeah your right Raiden I don't think has landed Grand Finals yet. let alone loser's finals?

You have to understand alot of complaints come from "Non" pro players who cannot effectively handle a powerful tool as well as professionals can.

For all we know. Raiden could be OP to the average joe. guy who plays his friends once ina while at his house.

But at tip top level, He could be just a viable character to win a tournament but not... OP.

Different levels of skill will have different opinion on things.


another example:

I saw alot of people complaining about lui kang's combo's being too easy to perform. This matters at a very low level of play where players struggle with consistent combos.

at a VERY high level of play. The ease of execution does not matter, as pros will execute their stuff flawlessly I wanna say probably 90% at the VERY LEAST of the time.

to a pro it does not matter how easy it is to do 30% as long as their character has the tools they wish to be able to use.
 
I've Only seen 1 raiden at EVO, He lost to Reo (WOOT!!!) and I really dont have a Problem with Raiden anymore i think that I complained Because i lost to raidens Online. Imo He isnt very OP =D
 
Online players hate raiden because they don't realize he isnt OP at all, he only abuses online lag(NRS fault, not the character)

And OP, he is used at tourneys(Recently by Justin Wong) and he just is a tier whore(If he had stuck with KL I wouldnt call him out, but now that hes jumping characters w/e)so he is losing to players who stick to their guns and know more about the game

No he's pretty op. Instant teleport is absurd. The superman has priority over nearly everything, including cyber sub zero's parry, can be done in the air, and pushes you into the corner....oh and he has good mix ups.

Have you SEEN the block stun on the superman? You get a little over a full second to do whatever the **** you want, so that evens it out. Also, in the brief moment that Raiden is teleporting, he cannot block or attack, which makes him vulnerable. It may be difficult, but a pro can easily take advantage of this and punish Raiden.
