I know its probably been done before, but I cannot stand playing Raidens online. All they do is teleport, small combo, torpedo rinse repeat. I find it near impossible to defeat a decent Raiden with my Subzero.

He has a counter for literally everything I do. Any other frustrated subzero players encounter this?

It's come to a point where I just leave when the other guy selects Raiden, not because I can't accept losing, simply because I don't need that shit in my life.

Anyways I just had to let off some steam.
 
Yo i'll help you out if you want. We can lab it up. I'll pick raiden. And you pick subzero and i'll try to be as gay as possible. And we'll figure something out for you to make beating raidens who spam the same 4 moves over and over again.

Then once you can handle that. then you can move on to fight raiden's who do all that.... plus have ridiculous combos/pressure game. But atleast you'll feel good when you lose to those raidens. It kinda hurts your confidence when you lose to simplistic tactics. So best remedy for that is to find simplistic ways to beat simplistic tactics so you greatly turn the tides in your favor.

when I say lab... I mean i'll let you do say a clone. Then most raidens will teleport here to try to render it useless. Well we'll have you try like a million different things to try to react against his teleport to put your scenarios in your favor.

You shouldn't run from it. embrace the raiden, and once you finally have him figured out... you'll feel like a millionaire.
 
Wait cant ice clones block raidens torpedo move? Raiden barely has any mixup with average players so thats why they rinse and repeat
 
I play with Raiden and Sub so.. when Raiden use a torpedo do an ice clone and you get it. When he teleports you can do a slide 'cause has a low hit and is relatively a fast move. The trick here is predict what your opponent will do so you can counter it.
For example, when you do an ice clone (and Raiden is in the other corner), your opponent will not to do a Torpedo, instead he will use a teleport to avoid the ice clone and catch you. Then you must counter with something.

I'm a Raiden -trying to play with another character because the haters- player but i always forgot he has a teleport move :P

The solution IS your Ice clone...play all your game around it.
If you stay in front of the clone, when raiden teleports he will be frozen and you can destroy him.
If he teleports and you don't have the clone on your back, just smash D4 or D2.
Pay attention to his torpedo move and block, after blocking you will be able to start your combo.
If he stays away shooting lightining, trade your iceball.

Follow these tips and, believe me, you won't lose.
 
my mileena has no probs with raidens anymore (because most of them have nothing to fall back on once the teleport and superman fail), but that DAMN kung lao. arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. i HATE HIM.
 
Wait a sec, can't you record inputs in training? Like setup the CPU Raiden to do that stupid crap and then use it to practice against him?


Or is the record I'm thinking of just to record your own combos?
 
Raiden is another character I dread fighting. I see people spamming his torpedo and stuff all the time.

The only way to get better is to fight him again & again until you familiarize with his patterns. I am having problems with Kano & kung lao but I learn something new everytime. Soon enough I am going to beat the hell out of kano online and I will be satisfied. Just keep trying.
 
Not impossible to beat, but harcore annyoing... all these scrubs out there, just teleport spam smash buttons with no clue and then teleport again. so i just sit there and block all the time and then punish... its kinda gay ******** gameplay everytime i play vs raidens, sometimes they leave because of that... but yeh, its not my fault the match is boring like ****.. raiden players should ****ing learn to play then we can have better matches.
 
I know what you guys mean, One of the characters I use is Raiden and I played one the other night that spammed the living daylights out of his teleports. His teleport does come in handy but using it like that does get annoying.
 
So i played nothing but Raiden's last night and I did pretty good. But then my friend called me to play and he destroyed me. I couldn't do anything against him. I can't take anything away from him, he's a very good player but I just feel that if he wasn't Raiden, he wouldn't be as good.

Anyways, I tried playing defensive, I hid behind my clones, I blocked non stop. He had an answer for everything. His wakeup attack is crazy. His teleport is near impossible to predict. he would teleport + grab or teleport + torpedo. I can punish the torpedo but he's so quick with it. So when i catch onto that, he would change it up and teleport non stop to fake me out. It was depressing. I feel like I cant use my bread and butter moves against him. I have no answer for when he plays distance game with me. He punishes my slide, my trajectory is too slow for his lightning trajectory. I'm not giving up but yesterday was quite the demoralizing day vs him.

Using the tips written in these thread, I think you can win against a good Raiden.

Remember:

When he teleports smash D2 or D4, it should work
Don't use slide if you are not 100% sure to hit him.
Be ready for his wakeup attack and block it
Stay in front of your clone, not behind it
Pay attention to what he likes to do, what his favorite patterns are, and react in time

This does seem to be like the best strategy. Im going to work at it. Thanks alot
