Quan Chi Revealed

anyways can anyone else picture quan chi using the undead heroes just to personally fvck with raiden mentally?

I could see that happening.
I could even see Quan Chi resurrecting them but as new NetherRealm creations, like he did with Noob Saibot, Scorpion and Sindel.

Araknyd_Commander weren't they technically netherealm creations when Quan Chi first resurescted them all in Raiden's chapter? i mean i'm pretty sure the method in which he resurrected them was no different than Scorpion and Sindel save for the glass like corpse appearance they all had

though i can understand if he used the same method he used to resurrect Bi Han

They were slaves, just zombies.

Noob Saibot and Scorpion have free will.

This.

They weren't resurrected.
Those were just the ghosts / souls of the dead warriors under Quan Chi's control, which Raiden fought against.
Revenants, if you will.

Quan Chi's trailer also hints at those revenants (or ghosts / souls) still being under Quan Chi's control and serving in his army.

"Using his necromancer powers, Quan Chi has built an army of revenants from the fallen EarthRealm warriors."

once more i stand corrected but back on you're theory about quan chi making them Netherealm creations it's very likely depite the former heroes' strong ties to Earthrealm. It would make for a more dramatic experience for Raiden and whoever he may have rounded up if the revenents did have some semblance of free will

Agreed, but I don't think Quan Chi is the type of person to give up free will like that.

My 2 cents:

Having control of the dead EarthRealm warriors and having an army of them to do his dirty work seems more like something that he would do, like he did in MK9 by making Raiden fight against them, and also trying to break Raiden down in the process.

let me throw in my two cents then to your theory

i actually think giving them free will is going to bite him in the ass hard likely around the end of MKX's story

Agreed, and I also think that it could backfire if he does resurrect them in the story.
IMO, though, I don't think he will.
If he was going to resurrect them in the story, it would likely be as his own new creations.

I honestly think that he will try to have them under his control for as long as possible, in MKX.
Any type of dictator / overlord / ruling being would want 10 free beings at his (or her) beck and call, and bending to the will of said ruler.
I don't think he'll just give up free reign of the 10 kombatants under his control.

I think the Quan Chi reveal answered a certain nagging question a lot of us had- The fallen have been resurrected as his slave AND Quan has a major part in the story mode so we'll be seeing them again in MKX, at least in cut scenes, but personally I would like to see them in secrets fights in the versus mode while 2 or 3 of them can be unlocked and playable as you progress through the story after you defeat them, the rest can be DLC. I'm hoping they get resurrected and restored to their normal selves when it's all said and done.

Hardy har har, what if he could have had an ability that summons the undead characters as a special and they all did various things?

Cyber Sub-Zero would freeze
Sindel would scream
Jax would ground pound
Smoke would do that teleport punch
Kitana would throw fans

So on and so on.

Sadly, I think the only thing Quan Chi summons is that bat.
I say sadly because I would have also have loved to have seen a Cerberus-like creature or another creature also be summon-able.

Ozzy Osbourne should be a guest character for that reason. I like it when bats have their heads bitten off.

Yeah, the Netherrealm bat is weak sauce. I'm surprised at NRS to be honest, especially after my faith in the team had been strengthened so much by the hands-on event. Which is not to say that I don't LOVE Quan Chi's new design, it's awesome.

I just... don't find a diminutive bat to be all that intimidating, especially when the name of the variation is SUMMONER. Come on, at the very least, he should be able to summon all manner of hellish creatures with his specials. His steed for example!

Best case scenario would be making use of the fallen warriors like Kitty_55 suggested. I can't believe they passed up that opportunity. It must've been late in the day during that dev meeting, some fool said 'how about a small bat?' and they all went home.

Jade would throw her razorang.
Stryker would throw his grenades.
Kabal would dash through his opponent.

The Bat that he summons would be such a weak idea if it wasn't the only thing he summoned

Skeletons- Holds the opponent for a free hit
Hounds- Quick Dash strikes
Bat- Mauls the face and sweeps the legs

The green hands coming out of his back in the Warlock variation look SOOOOOOOOOOO f***ing SICK!!!!

Some have been questioning the Skull on his chest.

I mean, it has its eyes covered.

But in some moves, it seems to open it and cast some kind of sorcery.

Then you have hands on his back...
