Im a guy that wants to all being explained, specially the powers, we know sub-zero has ice powers because he is a cryomancer (a race originated in outworld), smoke has smoky powers because its an enenra, scorpion has fire powers because is a hell-coming wraith but i do not understand some. kung lao and liu kang are shaolins they master the air and fire element respectivly, shaolins are always tied to elements, so thats ok.

But those:

First, Johnny's green energy, his bio says he is descents from a more than human family that served the gods, well makes some sense.

Sonya's pink energy, where does it come from? its a device like a clock? or is energy she canalize from her body?

Scorpion's spear, is a device? or comes from inside his hand like ion the movie?

Kabal's violet energy, comes from inside him? or is something related to his breathing device? because that move is called Gas something.


Whatever this are some, can someone expalain me one of those? I know its a fantastic game, but everything has a reason no matter how crazy it is, and i like reasons.

scorpions spear comes from his gauntlet glove thing. Kabals gas thing i believe comes from his back pack thing. sonya has her wrist thing. johnny idk i think you are right

Damn i liked most the spear source from the movie, making it come from inside his hand is way cooler.
 
I don't know how well this will be taken by the rest of the forum, but I love the idea. I, too, like you, like things being explained.

With that being said, can somebody explain the cyborg thing to me? At first I thought they were just robots (when they were first introduced). Then I thought that they were just robotic shells. But now, they have human parts inside, yet Sektor's rockets come out of his body and Cyrax's blade comes out of his chest.

Yeah, that is the one thing that, no matter how much magic you sprinkle it with, will never make sense to me. Cyrax and Cyb Zero aren't robots; they are cyborgs. That means they have a heart, a liver, and most of their human organs, which must be connected by a venous system. Once you split up during your teleport, you sever all of those vital connections. Which means you're dead. This is why fatalities kill Cyrax and Cyb Zero. Otherwise, they'd just come back together again after Kung Lao cuts them in half with his hat.
 
Sonya has that gauntlet thing, and it shoots out the beam thingy.
Scorpion the same thing.

The cyborg thing also confused me.
At first I thought they were just dead people who were brought back to life through cybernetics.
But the new MK's but that idea to rest, now I don't know what to think lol
 
As far as Cyborgs go, the way I always looked at it was that they were enhanced humans. They have the robotic limbs (as seen in the MK3 dizzy sprites) and have the human head and torso. I think the torso is more hollowed out though (like the bones serve as a "support" for the armor like beams on a bridge) and the organs replaced with their various weapons. So they never are able to go back to being real humans unless someone can turn them into some kind of Frankenstein monster or something.

Xrays kind of squashed that theory though. The cyborgs have everything, as far as the insides go, that every other fighter includes.

Yeah I know that x-rays are kind of messed up, but I consider them "non-canon" since there is no way Cyrax or Sektor can have ALL the same parts as the human fighters (certain x-rays show parts that are there when they obviously aren't after battle damage like Cyrax's missing toe part). I mean how can Jax have bones or muscle inside his metal arms? That made me not even think that X-Rays are proof of anything.
 
Johnny Cage with his green powers just doesn't seem right whatsoever. I can see a character like Sub-Zero throwing ice, and Ermac using souls, but Johnny Cage with magical powers just seems tacked on.
 
I think Johnny Cage is a Shadow Magic user (or something like that) just like Jade. Both of them Glow when they use their powers and such.
 
Well as mentioned Cage backstory has been expanded to add that he is a descendant from an "Ancient mediterranean cult" who trained warriors for the gods, but yeah it seems Johnny, Jade and Shao Kahn use similar powers
 
I agree that not all the X-rays can be considered "cannon". Though, considering they had different skulls for some characters, and extra arms and whatnot...why couldn't they have given the cyborgs more robotic innards? I think it was just a matter of simplicity in modeling, working off a template.
 
Johnny Cage's ancestors were some people that bred like warriors with magical people or something like that . So Johnny Cage is a decendant of one of the people so he has his green energy powers from his blood line .
Sonya has her wrist gun that shoots those energy rings
Everyone's powers have a back story to it . You just have to find it out .
Well everyone except Jade - Idk where her powers are from
