Perfect game to send Baraka packing

He had four special moves if you want to call them that.
1. Blade projectile
2. Drop kick
3. Double stab
4. Blade shred? (His best move)

2-4 weren't anything but combo finishers and very predictable. He would need a serious overhaul to kompete not just to satisfy loyalist.

As a Baraka Main in MK9, yeah no.

3 and 4 had precedence over basically every other move in the game; if one didn't beat a move, the other did. 2 could lead to surprise attacks, especially when the opponent was expecting you to just stand there and bait out his attack. His projectile was pretty much worthless, though.

Baraka was amazing at playing a waiting game to throw your opponent off their game, and then move in for the kill. Not many people seemed to have the patience to play him, honestly.

I'm neutral for Baraka.
If he does come in via unlockable or DLC, fine.
If he doesn't come in via unlockable or DLC, also fine.

At 1 point, I was just like "Might as freakin' well put him in. The rest of the MKII debut cast is in, minus Baraka."

If the supposed rumor of 8 characters being killed in story mode is true, then I hope that some of those "deaths" are of the parents and klassic characters that should sit out for a while.
They don't need to die, per se, but maybe just sit out for a while.
NRS has basically proven with MKX that the characters needed to keep the tourney guys happy are: Kung Lao, Kitana and Mileena.
Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Raiden also don't seem to be going away any time soon.
I would love it if they kept 10 klassics from MK9 / MKX, and let the rest of the MKXI roster be post-MK3 & MKX debut characters and NEW characters.
Maybe if some of the klassics died or sat out after this game, and this was their last "hurrah" for a while, then Baraka, Noob, Smoke, Kabal and Shang Tsung can come back for MKXI.
The dead / sitting out characters can be rotated back and forth, allowing some characters to sit out and others to be put in their place, klassic or otherwise, while also allowing for 4 or 5 more new characters to come up.

You're funny, salty? How? Please explain....I'm not the guy/gal who's trying to validate his inclusion. It seems that the salt is heavy on your side of the plate. Please explain how Baraka made the story better, by being the lacky that always got his a55 whooped or the limited dialogue from a mouth that doesn't move?

"Just another character option" and the fact you brought up his mk2 standard moves and calling 2 of them non-moves basically, implies your strong dislike for Baraka and probably others who made the game.

I'm not validating his inclusion, simply stating my case why it would make sense he could be in this game. You just taking bits from my original statement to prove your point since I made it clear I would not even care that much if he's not included (after this game).

Why would I need to explain to you how Baraka made the story better? Made suggests games in the past, I'm talking about MKX and everybody knows and it's been stated several times that he's the general of Mileena's armies..

If you would've read my opening statement, I already concurred that he's been treated like a lackey and is one of the reasons he shouldn't be in the games after this since NRS made a choice not to develop him.

LOL you sound very upset that a character could be in who you claim cannot move his mouth :bird:

@ Commander, it does seem weird that he's the only one excluded from the MK2 debut cast, while he makes the most sense for this gritty new direction.

Bar aka was one of those characters that really sucked if you played just a little with him but became really strong and annoying if you gave him time.

His specials were quick and deadly, his spin was better than that of Kung Lao.

goro15, I read your op and kept up with this thread and commented like the rest yet I seem to be the one you want to argue with the most. This is very entertaining and we can go back and forth all you want, I don't care if he's in or out either. I asked what would he bring to the story and that he'd need an overhaul if nothing has changed from past story/ gameplay then his inclusion does nothing and he would just be...a roster filler. Don't be mad, I say again, I have virtual tissues if you want one or a few.

Comedic how I asked good questions of relevance, not to bash but to hear thoughts about one's love of a kharacter. Yet you have nothing to say to members who truly don't care about him and think he's a waste of space. Read their comments and get back to me when you're done addressing those who made comments about him being and get back to me. For now go change your undies and start over.

Fair enough, no need to cry now.

Again, story wise he's the general of the Tarkatan and Mileena's forces. He could easily betray her, work for Quan Chi or try to bring her before Kotal Kahn in exchange for a valuable position under his rule. As far as gameplay goes, here are 3 variations (I thought I posted them already):

- Blades variation: blades extended, which would cause the most damage of the variations. The downside should be that he would be susceptible to getting grabbed since his reach is longer.

- Hit em up variation: Big blades are in his arms and cannot be used unless it's a standard move. The focus is on his fighting moves, combos and the smaller blades in his arms can be used. He has a fighting style and causes more damage when making combos than in any other variation.

- Monster variation: his eyes are glowing red / orange, he's a bit quicker and will be more of a grappling freak, who can grab his characters more easily and use his teeth to bite and such. I came up with this before they gave it to Mileena.

Universal moves:
- slice em up
- different types of projectiles (diagonally, low, high)
- rotating blades while moving forward
- backslash
- some combos

Fanboys do not change their minds so I felt no need to convince anyone, just made my case with that opening statement, but there it is. Maybe this will convince some ;)

By the way, stay mature please.

Yeah, that immediately caught my attention.
I was like "Huh. There's a certain bladed Tarkatan that's absent."

That said, though, if there is more DLC koming after the Kombat Pack (which I believe there will be), then I could easily see a demand for Baraka and Fujin (if Fujin isn't an unlockable character already) as DLC characters.
Those 2 seem like VERY strong candidates for DLC.
Seems like the Tarkatan hordes are more NPC characters in this game, helping Mileena out, and maybe that's why he's not on the main roster.
I don't work at NRs, but that's just my opinion and $0.02 on the matter.

LOL I'm sure you're not going to cause trouble, let's leave it at that :).

Ah yes, of course. Innocent Mr. Nice Guy that is me.

Come on Taj we've known you for years now, be easy on us ;). Lol jk man, you seem to be a nice mod for now, you even got those RoboCop speeches lmao.

Barakas the exact kind of character MKX needs. the roster is far too over populated with boring generic human characters.

characters like baraka mix it up. and his move sets could be well minipulated with the variation system.

im shocked hes not in the main roster, theres actually no dark evil looking badass monster types in MKX :/ feels like a huge piece of the puzzle is missing

I highly doubt Baraka would ever be killed off (and since when has any character in Mortal Kombat really been killed off besides elder Sub-Zero, which hardly counts). Characters from MK1-3 have the biggest fan base.

Not to mention tarkatans are such good cliche bad guys to fight against.

Some interesting stuff during the stream: Erron Black has a Tarkatan arm with the sword, which for me pretty much de-confirms him BUT they said "Is it Baraka's? Hmmm...maybe...maybe not". The quote itself is not that interesting, but if you consider that they did the same with Havik, maybe maybe not..it might be planned. These streams are a lot more thought out than people might assume. Pair this info with Baraka in another scene other than the Kove during the trailer tease for next week, what you guys think?

EDIT: He's not in the faction war video, at least I don't see him, only Jax with spikes on his armour..

Can't lie. I smiled like a lunatic when they hinted at Erron using Baraka's arm blade as a sword. For once Baraka would be involved in something interesting! :p
