Online tournie? (360)

Cyber Sub Zero is one of the characters in this game I think I can say I know inside and out now.

I have a question, do you guys still play this game as religiously as before? I'm thinking of taking a break because im just not enjoying the game at the moment. Online is a joke and I just wasn't getting into the game at my last offline session. I dont know why, but I think the main reason is the vast amount of BS in this game still. For instance, I can play against an inferior player but if they know how to instant air fan or instant air gas blast, the game for CSZ is about a million times harder. Things like small hitboxes, fast uppercuts, characters having buckets of armour, characters having none....just lead me to believe NRS have no idea how to balance a game. They buffed Jax 8 times, characters like CSZ, Kano and Jade got nerfs. I mean seriously... when all is said and done, I genuinely think CSZ is a good character. All I want for him is a good teleport but as Paulo said "a bad teleport is the price of divekicks". I mean seriously..

My XBox Gold is up today so I wont be able to get online until I top it up. I would be happy to do this tournie at some point though, be good to get some numbers up as I see, including me we probably got about 8 guys so far? 16-20 guys would be good. That way we could have 4 little RR tables, and the top guys from each table meet in a final Grand Final RR. It's a cool way that ensures everyone gets to play and we could probably do something like this in under a week.

For now I think I need a small break. I'll keep checking back here, if we can get the numbers up to at least 16, then we got a mini tournie on.

Thanks for sharing your insight on the state of the game as far as online and offline goes. I have always loved this franchise but havent logged enough hours with this latest version to see some of the flaws you have.

EDIT: I notice a couple of UK players here. If you guys are interested, we have offline casuals every monday in London. The last one till September is this monday, but there's a tournie at the end of the month. We're a friendly enough bunch and you'll meet some really amazing players.

Yes i would like to do that. The wardens(wifes) sister lives in London, if we visit i would try and make it. Londons a bit far from Pontefract to play MK every Monday lol

I still play it a lot. Not as much online for obvious reasons. And I still make tournaments.

IF your gonna play a character like cyber Sub zero, and you don't want to deal with instant air fans (which everyone can deal with it, it's just more work but it's all on you whether you get hit or not.)

Then you s hould pick up a secondary to compliment the matchups you hate as CSZ, but still learn the match ups you hate anyways. Because picking up a secondary means you got 25+ more matchups to learn all over again.

Yes NRS is a bit on the nooby side when it comes to making a competitive fighter. But if you follow the scene like I do. They go to their own tournaments and support it. They drop money on their tournies like I hardly see from other companies besides Blizzard. Nintendo NEVER drops money on their games.

NRS is also very open to listening to the public aka the gamers. And I believe they are stepping in the right direction in making great fighting games. It's just MK9 was their first attempt at trying to make something really competitive.

What you're doing is comparing other fighting game companies like say Arc System where they only need like 2-4 updates to make it really balanced but they got history/experience and your comparing them to NRS who's just a child in school learning how to make a competitive game. They are growing, give them some room to learn. It's their first bout on the competitive side.

They didnt' even know their own frame data that's why there was so much broken shit at launch. Now they understand the importance of frame data because of the communities support.

Next MK will be awesome I have a feeling.

I've just been salty recently, made worse by a hammering i took from a set in Treadmill about three days ago. So i've ditched the stick and gone back to pad. Played yesterday and it was like the matches with Treadmill were like an exorcism because I seem to be playing like my old self again. Hopefully i'll get a run back with him tonight.

As for CSZ, well I hate to be the counter picking type but for someone like Kitana or a Kabal I just cant crack, I have Baraka and a Ermac (work in progress) to hand. I've just discovered how good Raiden is.

I do feel NRS don't quite know what to do in terms of balancing, I mean look what they did to Jax and then look what the did to Jade and Kano. It's not all bad, as I think Baraka got a "fair" buff, full screen ex blade charge, which improved him but didn't make him retarded. NRS need to either give every character armour, or no one armour at all, and no one wants to be frame trapped by Cage all day so everyone should get armour, but I think one special with Armour is adequate.

Yeah this game has quite a bit of BS, but it looks fantastic, the mechanics are pretty nice and it has the best super meter in a fg, bar none.

As for Frame Data, thank God for Somberness and Aidan.

We can play whenever man. I forget when you are on because of the time difference though.
