Official 'Batman Begins' Thread (56K - Not Recommended)

I only hope this is a one off movie.

The last time they went into Batman movie-making mode, we saw Batman movie after Batman Movie, the plot didn't change, the costumes got further and further from the REal ones, and they got more boring every second.

I'm stil debating on whether or not to see it... :?

Actually I've thought about that too. Although, if anyone's seen the Mask of Zorro, that was basically the same way, and that wasn't immensely long (at least not Braveheart-long). They could just do the first hour setting everything up and the second with Batman in all his awesomeness.

But yeah, this could end up being really long. Oh well, I'm still gonna see it, I just hope I'm not let down 'cause I have really high hopes for this movie and have been looking forward to it for a while.

Hey, wait a minute, weren't you just angling for a 3-hour MK movie? So why not a 3-hour Batman movie? Fascist. :P

I'm sure I'll end up seeing it anyway. I have this blind faith in movies that have a lot weighing against them.

And yes, I was. A 3-hour MK movie would be Godly. That's about the only thing I'd sit down for three hours about nowdays :D

It's supposed to be 139 minutes long.

That's not too bad. Longer than the average movie, but not necessarily long enough to turn your ass into Jello.

*BUMP*

I just saw it a few hours ago and I gotta preface my thoughts on the film with this: I was expecting a lot from this movie and my hopes were as high as they've been for any movie I've ever seen. Tim Burton's Batman movies are still two of my all-time favorite movies (especially the first one), classics in my eyes, while the following sequels are two of my all-time least favorite movies and utter crap in my eyes. I have had a tremendous amount of blind faith in this new movie ever since I heard about the premise and its objective to turn Batman back into the dark, foreboding hero he was always intended to be, and away from the bright, cheesy weeny that the last movies turned him into. So now my thoughts...

This movie was fan-fucking-tastic! I loved it! It was absolutely everything I hoped it'd be. I have never anticipated a movie this much and walked out of the theater without being even remotely let down, until now. If you have ever been a fan of Batman, seriously, you gotta see this movie. Forget about the last two movies, or even the first two for that matter, this is completely different. I really think this takes the series to a whole new level, and it no doubt makes you forget the previous couple movies even existed. Awesome movie.

Ditto on Deathcore. Even if you ARE NOT a fan of Batman, this is a must see movie.

This is the type of movie that the box office has been deprived of the last 5-6 years since the computer technology has taken root over actual story and dialogue. Batman Begins is near masterpiece.

The movie has great story, from start to finish, and the way the story unfolds is impressive. The movie really doesn't use much in the computer animation department. Instead it uses old-style action sequences, great camera work/angles, and the old-style "fireball" special effects. The movie itself is more dark-orientated and very realistic (or as real as a comic book movie can get ... in this case, very real). I was wondering how they would fit the Scarecrow into the movie ... and he was done perfectly. I thought the entire movie was directed to perfection.

The acting was great as well. Liam Neeson, Michael Cain, Gary Oldman, and Katie Holmes all do a great job. Morgan Freeman makes you smile everytime he speaks with his great dialogue and style. Christian Bale? GREAT JOB.

I had very high expectations for this movie and very very rarely do my expectations get met. With this movie they were surpassed. That's saying a lot for anyone who knows me on this forum.

Get your ass out to the theater this weekend and go see this movie. I think the confusion in release date hurt it's opening day box office draw (15 million) but come this weekend and by word of mouth on how good thos movie is, I expect it to do well in the theater.

Great movie from start to finish - even if you don't like comics, Batman, or action movies.

I'm also anticipating to see this movie. I hated the previous batman movies except the Tim burton ones.
Glad you liked it chupa.

Im probobly alone in this one but i liked Batman Forever, anyway this one tops all of em ten fold. Like after you see it the first words are like...holy crap...that was sooo cool. or AWESOME MAN etc. Just makes Batman look edgy, not cheesy like i thought hed be. Its funny in some parts for bein so serious which is good.

This was almost a perfect Batman movie. It was dark and had the right atmosphere for a Batman flick. None of his gagets seemed silly and none of the villians seemed cheesy like in the other Batman movies. The only bad thing I can say is that the fight scenes were a little chopy but it didn't take away much from the experience.

I just saw it a while ago and I can't stop raving about how much that movie ruled. Finally DC makes a new movie that can stand up to all those big movies Marvel's been spitting out. This movie was great and Christian Bale played a good Batman, imo. I also like how he tried to disguise his voice each time he was in costume, very clever. I can't really type anything else about how good this movie was; watch it, 'nuff said.

It's really bugging me. Everyone who has seen this movie loves it! Girls I know. Guys I know. Non action movie followers and non comic book followers. Why? It's a great movie!

Problem is that not enough people are going out and seeing it. It's opening day wasn't as good as anticipated and its Thursday and Friday take were below expected as well. It won't be could if the movie is considered a flop (seeing as that production was around 135 million or so) so that it won't produce a sequel.

This is the type of movie that needs to thrive. It's a very well acted, dialogued, acted, and scripted movie with a great story and great cast. It doesn't use to many ridiculous computer effects - it uses the old special effects.

I think the problem is that the movie really wasn't promoted enough. I have met people that didn't even know it was out yet. Hopefully word of mouth gets this movie successful box office in the long run. I would really like to get a sequel as this is one of the best movies I have seen in years.

overall i thought it was great considering i do not enjoy these types of movies. scarecrow was amazing i thought. but i hate that girl in the movie uhhh katie holmes...would have been better if someone differnt then her was cast but i guess im just prejudice with her and her dumb face expressions. maybe itsjust me but her mouth always looks like it should be on a handicapped person with its awkward smile/junk whatever...

well, i thought alfred was hilarious

I completely agree with everything you just said. I can't even imagine that this movie isn't doing insanely well with so many other comic book movies having done an immense amount of money, especially when this movie crushes all those other movies. I thought the hype would just build and build until the day it came out where it would explode in the theaters. What the fuck happened?

I don't think it's been promoted enough, either, which is baffling when you see how many other crappy movies are promoted all day long every day on TV months before they even come out. Like you, about a week ago I talked to a friend of mine online who had no clue the movie even existed, and she's enough of a fan of Batman to have become completely excited when I told her about it.

Since Wednesday I've seen the TV spot for this movie no more than once. Once! I thought this was supposed to be blockbuster of the summer. Could it possibly just be that most people think this is part of the previous series and don't know that it has nothing to do with the last two movies under the Batman name? I thought that was all painfully obvious, but maybe I'm wrong.

It really angers me to see such a fantastic movie like this sputter out of the gates when a generic heap like Mr. and Mrs. Smith does well on the speculation of the stars banging each other alone. What a world. Oh well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go see Batman Begins again this week. Last time I did that with any movie? I think I was still wearing Batman pajamas.

It would be nice if they could sneak Nightwing in one of these movies. But I know from what they said from a apparent guest appearance in one show called Teen Titians reason why. His copywrite. Every DC character is owned by his or her creator and the copyright behind that character that character means the creator of him isn't fond of letting him out. There are several DC characters with this same prob, Plastic man being another. So basically your never get more then a name mention about those characters.

Man the more I read about the movie the more I want to see it... And I'm not even much of a batman fan.

omfg this movie is the best ive seen... EVER!!!!

i thought it was sooooooo good

the first half was so deep and interesing, about how he bacame the dark knight, that I almost forgot this was an action film!!!

the effects of scarecrows 'serum' were spectacular, especially when batman reversed it, and bloody heeelll!!! did you see batman as that beast thing???

honourable mention to the new batmobile/tumbler, what.a.car.

if bale is not propelled to the a-list, i will be very disappointed...

this has to be the best start to any franchise imo

there is too much to say but what i will add is that the ending was the best ending I have ever seen in the history of film endings -

spoilers - highlight to see
(joker in the sequel!!!!, plus did anyone notice the bald guy in the asylum? the one with the scars? well thats another comic villan too, and i think him, scarecrow (they cant leave him out, plus batman said he will be caught) and the joker will be in the next batman... )

9/10 imo

actually that is very wrong

BB is the highest grossing movie on a wednesday opening in the month of June. Hopefully the movie will keep up the momentum and strong word of mouth will help. DVD sales will be huge too i reckon...

It is not very wrong. Go read some movie sites: The opening day take in of 15 million, the 9 million dollar day Thursday, and the weekend gross of 46 million were not as high as anticipated. Yes, the movie had a good opening weekend, but it was not as high as DC, WB, and the critics anticipated - which is never good. Like I said: I think it's because it wasn't promoted enough. But like you said, as do the sites, DVD sales will definatley be strong and this movie should retain some momentum as just about everyone likes it; word of mouth.

I just want this movie to do great so there is no question about a sequel ... and because Bale deserves to get into the spotlight. I can't believe people are seeing trash like Mr and Mrs. Smith (which over achieved in terms of box office draw, especially this weekend which also cut into Batman's take in).

There are some articles on both sites which explain how the sales were not as high as anticipated.

reeeeeeaaaaallllyy????

Warner Brothers were said to be estactic about it's opening. It's the biggest June opening for WB

I knew I recognized that guy from somewhere, he wouldn't happen to be Bane, would he?
