As long as there are no guest characters like a chainsaw wielding cheerleader, or a bloodsucking vampire, or a Greek demigod, or an 80s horror killer, I'm fine with it.

New ‘Mortal Kombat’ Game To Launch Alongside Movie Reboot
But in an interview with GamerHub.tv regarding the movie reboot, Legacy producer Lance Sloane let confirmation slip:
Well, we’ve been in greenlight committee for a while at the studio and we’ve got a great script, and we’ve got a great director with Kevin Tancharoen who is on board. It’s just figuring out the business side of it, and when we would do it, and when we would launch it, and how do we sync up with the launch of the game that they’re working on now. It’s not 100% yet, but we’re getting closer every day.”

@GamesRadar: New Mortal Kombat game in the works, producer says - http://bit.ly/13sBEhF " @noobde is this true?
@noobde Nothing announced but I'm sure many people are just assuming that one is coming at some point in the future.
That's not 100% certain, at the moment, though.
As per Ed Boon, nothing is announced, as far as a new Mortal Kombat game goes.
Yeah, but you know it is in development.
Unless they are developing a special MK Legacy 2 Paint ball action Sub Zero DLC for Injustice to celebrate the release of MK Legacy 2.

If it's in production, chances are good that NRS would have announced something by now.
How do you come to that conclusion?
I don't think they would announce something w/o something to show first like a trailer or something. They want you anticipating and hoping, then BOOM trailer out of nowhere to hype you.
Telling you "yes we're making it now" in a press release sounds less hype to me.
Plenty of people wait til they atleast have something presentable before showcasing it.
I don't know a damn thing.

NRS tends to show their stuff off in a BIG way where a HUGE amount of people would be tuning in, such as E3, GamesCon, PAX, GTTV (etc, etc, etc).
You don't think that one of those outlets would have hinted that "something from NRS will be revealed in the next few months," if NRS was actually working on it by now?
Hell, NRS only had an Injustice teaser trailer by the time that they made the 1st big announcement.
How is NRS saying that "we're working on something else" less hype?
On the contrary, people would be scratching their heads wondering if it's an MK action-adventure game, or MK10, or something completely different.
The hype would build on its own, just on people trying to guess what it is.
why? injustice is only 3 months old dude do you really think there just gona stop one project thats out now for another?
lol because it's automatically assumed they would start a project right after injustice. I know you don't think they'd just stand around with their thumbs up their ass waiting for WB to say something.
That "anticipation" is already there because Injustice is nearly over with updates, and i'm sure not their ENTIRE team is working on the DLC.
and yes they tend to show off at big events. So why would they announce it w/o much to show? I'm sure they atleast want it working well enough they can have a CGI trailer + 2 characters in a 1v1 match to show off mechanics.
and who knows maybe they're trying a new engine for the next game.
Wha???
This is EXACTLY my point.
I never said or assumed that they we're standing around with their thumbs up their asses.
You implied that.
They are still working on DLC stuff for Injustice and STILL have plenty of stuff to keep them busy.
If they were working on something, Boon would have mentioned that something is coming in the next few months, to hype people up and get people going nuts, trying to wrack their brains on what it "could be" about.
Boon and Kojima are 2 of the video-game industry's biggest trolls.
As much as Boon would also follow up with a trailer some time down the line, he also would have mentioned that "something is coming" by now to tease the fans.
He's good at it.
That's what he does.
He did that type of "something BIG is coming" mention with MK9 and Injustice, and he hasn't done that yet for MK10 or a next MK game.
Boon likes to build hype by getting people to talk about the "possibilities of what NRS is doing next."
