NetherRealm stole X-Ray moves from Fight Club game

Fight Club for PS2 was released in 2004, and featured X-Ray moves long before Mortal Kombat (2011).

From Wikipedia:
The game also goes into a mode showing X-rays of the character to show bones being broken. The fighting moves are intended to be brutally violent, such as one where the opponent's arm is visibly broken at the elbow.

What do you guys think about this?

Some X-Rays at 1:13, more throughout.

To take (another person's property) without permission or legal right and without intending to return it.

What exactly has been 'stolen'?

The Greeks stole The Iliad from the Hittites. There's nothing new under the sun.

Meanwhile, my god, that 'likeness' of Brad Pitt there is truly atrocious.

Your point?
Batman: Arkham Asylum had X-Ray knockouts as well.
My point is that NetherRealm stole the concept of X-Ray moves, as the thread title explicitly states.

Resorting to semantics I see. Blatantly ripping off another game's idea would be considered "stealing" by most, I believe.

Oh cool. Internet memes from 2009.

Those X-rays were so brutal, why couldn't Nether realm remake X-rays similar to those. Man, I'd pay millions for that to be in MKX.

But what makes you think they ever saw this Fight Club game? I didn't even know it existed until this very moment.

Did that game created X ray? No.

Did Netherrealm "stole" their idea? No.

Why? Well first of all, both of the game mechanics are based on a form of electromagnetic radiation. X rays were used only for medical uses at first. So if anything they stole it from the guys who invented X ray. But that is nonsense.

It is called copying and improving. This is how things work in nature. The very chinese kung fu art is a copy. Main moves have been taken from nature, while observing creatures as Praying Mantis or Tiger. So I guess now Praying Mantis can file a lawsuit, cause humans copied his movements/the way he fights and implemented for themselves.

In short Fight Club didn't invent X rays, X rays aren't their property. They just took the ideas of X rays and implemented it in their own game. Same as Mortal Kombat which implemented X rays IN THEIR OWN WAY as well.
And for that reason no one is suing anyone, as nothing has been stolen.

Also we could use the same logic for things like mobas. Dota was the first MOBA. Do you see them suing League of Legends or Heroes of the Storm?

If let's say the very idea of Fight Club would have been taken and used by Netherrealm. For example: They would make a game called Street Club, but core idea/mechanics/story is pretty much the same as Fight Club. Then we could talk. But now? X ray wasn't invented by Fight Club. So that ends this debate.

Also for your sake, next time, please do some research. As to accuse someone of thief is a serious matter.

I wouldn't say they stole it. More like borrowed it and improved it or were inspired by it. And I don't think this is even the game NRS took inspiration from actually. If anything, they copied Street Fighter who's been countless times mentioned by Ed. They got the Fatalities from SF and now even the X-Rays. And I don't mind. SF makes my head hurt.

Actually, NetherRealm (aka Midway) first used X-Rays in Blitz II:The League, a game which Midway made, so no they didn't steal from anyone.
