Mortal Kombat X to feature microtransactions?

Who gives a shit? All it's going to be are XP boosts and gold packs. It isn't like they'll let you buy "INFINITE METER" items to use in Ranked.

Pretty much this. I won't really be intimidated with a high 'xp level' or 'gold' amounts. The same way I didn't give a shit about a high w/l ratio in mk9. The people with the most ridiculous W/L ratios usually got wrecked the hardest. This really isn't a big deal even if it is true. They wouldn't compromise the balance of the game after working this hard on it.

If you give an inch, even if it doesn't impact competitive balance, WB is going to take a mile. Mark my words. It's only getting worse the longer you people tolerate it, because money speaks louder than words.

This can be a problem if in-game currency and experience earned through normal play doesn't scale very well. A common way F2P games coax player to shelling out real money is by making the XP/gold gains through normal play very low.

I don't get why everyone is crying. As stated before, it is ENTIRELY optional. It does not make the game any less fun or give you a disadvantage gameplay-wise. I highly doubt you can't afford a few bucks for a certain add-on anyways. If you don't want to pay that money, stop complaining. This is business and a marketing strategy, they don't care about your feelings or your tears, money makes the world go round.

You don't get it...it is our natural born RIGHT as consumers to complain! The customer is always RIGHT! The corporation is answerable to the customer.

Why don't you go have a protest? First-world problems are absolutely hilarious. You have no idea how ungrateful you sound.

And no, the consumer isn't always right. In fact, they normally aren't.

Yup MKX stuff revealed, including Brutalities, faction info and a possible Jax, Sonya, Mileena & new character with a bow reveal, but let's all herp derp over something that IGN may have falsely reported.

How do we know that the NetherRealm guy wasn't talking aboutd DLC, and IGN (as per usual) twisted things around again?
It wouldn't be the first time that IGN would give us an "Update" on an article, which they were misinformed about.
They've never done microtransactions in the 22 years that they've done games, and there's no reason to believe that they will now.
I'll be waiting for the "Update" on this article, with IGN saying "Oops, we were wrong, they actually meant they didn't want to talk about DLC."
Even if this microtransactions thing is true, I still plan to wreck a bunch of these people's asses online, and they'll probably drop the game after a few online loses, so what does it matter anyways.

With the large amount of modes, I don't see resources being very hard to come by. But I'm talking out my ass so we'll see.

How much money does WB pay you to spread anti-consumer propaganda?

Anti-consumer propaganda? Hahaha

I refuse to bother anymore, you're delusional and refuse to accept anyone else's opinion, and once they state their opinion you lash out and accuse people of 'anti-consumer propaganda', how pretentious.

I don't accept opinions that trample on my rights as a consumer, and ESPECIALLY my right to play on the same level playing field as everyone else!

You guys should see the comments on that IGN article.. bunch of clueless people talking about pay to win and junk. If anything, the micro transactions are probably just koins for the krypt or some other pointless thing that you can earn.

Agreed.
As usual, IGN reports something that may not necessarily be true, and people run with it.

The mere presence of using real money in the game itself carries implications of pay-to-win. What's next? Are we going to start gambling on gaming? Anyone could bet MASSIVE amounts of money against themselves and throw the fight to win their bets!
