Mortal Kombat X Official Gameplay Discussion Thread

Whats not fair is talking shit when you lose and getting all high and mighty when you win. Nobody owes him anything, but he acts like it. When i say he sucks, i mean he as a person sucks. I believe madzin can smoke that ass. 41-8 thats enough time to learn a few things or two about a match up. Its blood god, garunteed 50/50s on knockdown, and in the corner against gm sub zero shouldve been easy. If you think theyre even then thats your opinion, but i would bever say he's the best

Tom has beaten Madzin in the BG mu 10-9 before but for some reason you don't wanna bring that set up? Ok.

*Sigh* I figured people would've realized now that Tom is a troll. I've met Tom in real life before he's a nice, funny guy. He's not a jerk like he acts like on his streams.

Didnt see that set, still, 10-9 is pretty even. And i meant the sub zero mirror

I mean, it would be cool to master all 3 variations for the characters you like, but that seems really impossible if you like more than 5 characters with most variations playing really differently. So then you gotta pick 1 variation per character to make it more realistic. But even then, if I have 10 characters I train and toggle between, it seems hard and there's just 3 I can focus on a lot with only 1 being really good. The remaining 6 then I somewhat know, but altogether I still end up sometimes checking the moves list for all of them.

Anyhow, it has been probably listed already, but who's in your top ten you play with the most? And does the game have a statistic that can show you that?

Most fighting game players only stick with a handful, if not just one character. With all the nuances you have to learn with just one character, most players are not going to have the time, desire, or even the aptitude to use every available character. Variations (which isn't really new in fighting games) can be treated like separate characters. Why waste time on a character/variations that you do don't enjoy using or doesn't fit your preferred play style?

You both make good points. Yeah. Or you could always go with random and have fun :D

One more thing... How do you know you're actually good? Because sometimes I play and own the opponent, sometimes they own me by putting me in a corner using repeatedly one combo and just spamming, sometimes it's equal and sometimes the other guy really knows his stuff and is boss. I know it's not just about winning, but wanted to hear what you thought.

I use Mileena piercing most of the time. My side character is D'vorah swarm queen. I'll use Tanya pyromancer once and awhile, even though I suck with her. And yeah just use who you like lol.

If I'm playing with my friend and we're messing around, I'll pick randoms as well.

I normally pick Cyromancer for Sub because I love the pressure you can get from it.

I know all the cool kids use Grandmaster but I still have ptsd from how slow he was in MK9 whenever I see that move set lol

I've never understood this sentiment from players. The shunning of someone who uses "only" one combo. It's called optimization, doing the maximum amount of damage. Do you intentionally drop your own combos because you feel like you need to be different?

I can completely understand that feeling when it comes to characters that were previously in MK9.
Cryomancer is the more offensive / quicker variation.

That said, to me, GM Sub-Zero and Displacer Raiden feel like the complete versions of those characters.
SZ without Ice Clone and Raiden without the Teleport just feel weird and unfinished, to me.

Nah that makes sense considering how they both had those abilities since forever.

It doesn't bother me that I will lose. What bothers me is how I will lose. Why should I put time and effort into learning a character when I then get beaten by someone who doesn't care and only repeats one combo like a turd while thinking he's cool? That's just pathetic. Just because such a person wins doesn't make him automatically a good player. In fact the opposite. He's a bad player, because he doesn't know jack expect for one move. And now you're going to tell me to then break out of it and kick his butt. But there's one problem. There's not enough time between his spams to pull of a combo. It's barely a second before he does it again. If it was a local match, maybe. But online where every milisecond counts? Rarely. Anyway, yeah. Those people to me aren't players, but spammers. And the last thing they are are fans of the series.

At first I felt the same. No ice clone, no SZ. But then I started playing Cryo and sticked with it. That's my main. I just love the speed.

Why is it his fault that you can't get around his "spam"? You aren't even saying what his spam is. There is a way around everything in this game, and it isn't your opponent's fault that you're quicker to call him names than you are to learn how to beat him.

Answer my question, please. If you were to find a combo that did a great amount of damage and was comfortable for you to pull off, would you find shame in doing this combo? Would you seriously change up your own playstyle to please other people? Because that, to me, is more pathetic than anything.

I don't remember exactly what it's called, don't play or care for Kenshi really, but it was a normal combo. 2 strings. 3 at most. Maybe it was even one of his basic special moves. That doesn't really matter. What matters is it was something very basic anybody could execute.

Well, there's a difference between what you ask (a proper combo or chain that does damage and you learn) and spamming one short combo that doesn't do much damage, but can kill you eventually if you're cornered. If such a person had any actual skills they would use a plethora of moves and combos to use the character to its fullest. To show off how good they are. But because they don't have any skills and don't know what to do they just spam one easy move to win by basically cheating. At least that's what playing this way is to me. Cheating. At the very least yourself if not the opponent. I would never put someone in a corner and play this way. It's lame and boring. Even if I get someone into a corner I kick them out. There's no pleasure in button mashing like a robot. If that should count and be the purpose then all the moves and variations are meaningless and everyone would just spam basic moves and wouldn't bother to learn more. And clearly that is not the case with the amount of spammers being limited. Thankfully enough people still have a brain and actually play. To learn and have fun. Not to boost their ego.
